Marilyn Holland

Services for Marilyn Holland, 77, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.
The Rev. Bill Armstrong will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holland died Saturday at her home.
She was born in Oakland, Calif., and lived in College Station for 15 years. She was a homemaker and a member of A&M United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at Crestview Retirement Community and a volunteer tutor at College Hills Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Holland.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jimmie Sue Holland of College Station and David and Nancy Holland of Midland; a sister-in-law, Mabel Ruth Wright of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie Magness

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Eddie Magness, 88, of Rockdale are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
The Rev. Bill Smith will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Magness died Saturday at the Cottages in Chandler Creek in Round Rock.
She was born in Selma, Ark., and lived in Rockdale since 1954. She was a homemaker and was the Women’s Club champion golfer at the Rockdale Country Club. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale and was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 23. She was a volunteer at Richards Memorial Hospital and with Meals-on-Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred D. Magness; and a daughter, Betty Carol Magness.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jodie and Charles Steger of Georgetown and Rita and Dan Hull of Waco; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Robert Allen Martinez

FRANKLIN — Services for Robert Allen Martinez, 17, of Franklin are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.
C.E. Barnett, Rodney Box and Robert Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Robert died Saturday in Bryan.
He was born in Bryan and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. He was a high school graduate and attended TSTC in Waco. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Kaitlyne Jade Martinez of Calvert; his parents, Roy and Patricia Martinez of Franklin; a sister, Felicia Martinez of Franklin; grandparents, Pablo Martinez and Alice Bennett; seven aunts; six uncles; a great-aunt; and 15 cousins.
Johnoween Smyth Mathis

HEARNE — Services for Johnoween Smyth Mathis, 85, of Hearne are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Hearne.
The Rev. Robert Tobin of Christ Episcopal Church in Cambridge, Mass., will officiate. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.
Ms. Mathis died Saturday at her home.
She was born in Kosse and was a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Mathis.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Mathis of Washington, D.C.; a daughter-in-law, Shelley Mathis of Dallas; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Smyth of Wichita Falls; and two granddaughters.
Joel Ray Reese

CAMERON — Services for Joel Ray Reese, 76, of Cameron are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
The Rev. Gary Maroney will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Reese died Saturday at a Bryan health center.
He was born in Ballinger and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1950. He was a county supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration and served as county agent in Bastrop County. He served on the Veterans Land Board and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Cameron Lions Club, The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He was preceded in death by his wife, True Reese; and a daughter, Sally Jane Reese.
Survivors include a son, Clyde Reese of Bryan; a daughter, Cynthia Nethery of Huntsville; a brother, James Reese of Lubbock; two sisters, Mary Field of Dora, N.M., and Audrey Vess of Big Spring; and two grandchildren.
Robert Franklin Cotten

NACOGDOCHES — Services for Robert Franklin Cotten, 91, of Nacogdoches are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Rockdale.
Bro. Raymond Wooten, his son-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Garrison Funeral Home in Garrison.
Mr. Cotten died Saturday at the Rock Haven Nursing Home in Nacogdoches.
He was born in Rockdale and lived in Nacogdoches since 1996. He formerly lived in Bellville from 1964 to 1996. He was a boilermaker, pipe fitter and welder, retiring in 1965. He also worked as a framing contractor between boiler jobs. He was a member of Boilermakers Union Local No. 74 in Houston for more than 55 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellville.
Survivors include his wife, Bertie Cotten of Nacogdoches; three sons, Bob Cotton of Katy, Johnny Cotton of Bryan and Charles Cotton of Houston; two daughters, Mary Zinn of Caldwell and Flo Wooten of Nacogdoches; a brother, Charlie Cotton of Houston; 20 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.
Alvin W. Houston

Services for Alvin W. Houston, 90, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
The Rev. David Rowland will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Houston died Saturday in the College Station Medical Center.
He was born in Davidson, Okla., and lived in College Station since 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Texas A&M University after 26 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in College Station since 1947 and served as a deacon for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Florene Houston of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Ailese and Pat Gamble of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Mildred Houston of Cameron; a sister and brother-in-law, Floy and Richard Peek of Bryan; and a grandson.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in College Station.

Anna Mae Match, 76, of Navasota died Sunday in the College Station Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Ms. Match was born in Iowa.
Survivors include a daughter, Melodie Tomkivits of Navasota; two brothers, Wayne Wells and Jack Wells, both of Auburn, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
James Lee Smith

NORMANGEE — Graveside services for James Lee Smith, 97, of Austin are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.
Clinton Thomas Smith will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Mr. Smith died Sunday in Austin.
He was born in Smithville, Miss., and was a retired stone mason. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Smith.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Virginia Smith of Austin, Alvin Lloyd and Barbara Smith of Pangburn, Ark., and Clinton Thomas and Sue Smith of Jarrell; a daughter, Ruth Anette Smith Meszaros of Austin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ollie and Sally Smith of Anderson and Coy and LaNore Smith of Rockdale; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
