Private graveside services for Jean Parker will be held Thursday at Knobbs Springs Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday atmMemorial Funeral Chapel College Station. Burial will be at Knobbs Springs Cemetery in Lee County, Texas. Mrs. Parker died Tuesday at Bryton Inn Health Care in College Station.
Mrs. Parker was born in McDade, Texas in 1922 and has been in College Station since 1964. She was a member for the Polka Club of America; Lady’s Chiropractic Auxiliary; American Legion Auxiliary; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a member of the Clan Dunbar. She worked in her husband’s Dr. J.R. Parker Chiropractic Office for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. J.R. Parker of College Station; two sons David Wayne Parker of Phoenix, Arizona, and Shawn A. Parker of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and Stanley Sommers of Bryan; a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Mary Sherman of Austin; a sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Ray Stone of Austin; two grandchildren, Anissa Sommers and Thomas Reagor of Pflugerville, and Kris K. and Courtney Sommers of Brenham and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lillian Turner Hoke

WEBSTER — Services for Lillian Turner Hoke, 76, of Marquez are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Seale-Round Prairie Community Center.
The Rev. Ray Payne of Ephesus Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Seale Round Prairie Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ricks-Bower Funeral Home in Jewett.
Visitation will be from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday at the community center.
Mrs. Hoke died Tuesday at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster.
She lived in Houston, Pearland and Marquez. She was a purchasing agent employed by Nationwide Paper Co. in Houston for 37 years and an antique collector. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vivian Hoke.
Survivors include her son, Elton “Bubba” Hoke of Pasadena; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin D. and Donna Hoke of Alvin; a daughter, Jan Hoke of Marquez; three sisters, Ernestine “Little” Ainsworth of Bellaire, Frances Ellender of Pasadena and Jackie “Snoopy” Dunlap of Marquez; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Perry D. Woods
Jan. 30, 1924 — Dec. 10, 2002
Services for Perry D. Woods, 78, of Milano are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
The Rev. Gary Maroney will officiate. Burial will be in the Milano Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Woods died Tuesday in a Rockdale hospital.
Mr. Woods was born in Milano and graduated from Milano High School. He was co-valedictorian of his College of Agriculture class at Texas A&M University.
Mr. Woods taught vocational agriculture for 36 years, and the Henrietta school district dedicated the agriscience facility in his honor. He served as an infantry officer during World War II in Austria, France and Germany and was a Methodist.
He was a lifetime member of the American Vocational Association and the National Vocational Agricultural Teachers of America.
Survivors include his sister, Lola Mae Brzycki of San Antonio.
Jay Sherrod Winn
May 4, 1915 — Dec. 10, 2002
CENTERVILLE — Services for Jay Sherrod Winn, 87, of Centerville are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville.
The Rev. Anthony Cecil of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville will officiate. Masonic services, under the auspices of the Jewett Masonic Lodge No. 427, will be at the funeral home following the service.
Burial will be in the Marquez Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., and 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday.
Mr. Winn died Tuesday at his ranch in Marquez.
Mr. Winn was a lifelong resident of Leon County. He attended public school in the Bowling school district and after one year moved to Marquez, where he finished high school in 1933. He attended Sam Houston State Teachers College and Texas A&M University, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to Jewett in 1946 and was elected Leon County school superintendant and served from 1947-1979. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, the Jewett Masonic Lodge No. 427 and Centerville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star No. 1022. He was a member and past president of the Centerville AARP Chaper No. 1499.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frances Winn of Centerville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jay Sherrod Winn II and Deneice of Marquez; a daughter and son-in-law, Jayme and Kenneth Wakefield of Bryan; a sister, Elizabeth Winn Jackson of Marquez; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Candy Winn of Marquez; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Centerville or to a charity of choice.
Pickney Parnell
June 17, 1934 — Dec. 8, 2002
Services for Pickney Parnell, 68, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Castle Heights Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. U.L. Green of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary.
Mr. Parnell died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Iola and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He was a mechanic and a member of the Castle Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Addie Lee Blue Parnell of Bryan; four sons, Ollie Parnell, Charles Blue, Lawrence Blue and Allan Blue, all of Bryan; three daughters, Gwendolyn Parnell, Cassandra Blue and Sharon Blue, all of Bryan; three brothers, Nelson Parnell Sr., Jimmy Parnell and Joe Pleasant, all of Bryan; three sisters, Lillian Workman and Vera Robertson of Bryan and Carrie Ware of Lubbock; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Terrell Warren
June 11, 1949 — Dec. 7, 2002
Services for Terrell Warren, 53, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. Larry T. Hall will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary.
Mr. Warren died Saturday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
Mr. Warren was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He graduated from E.A. Kemp High School. He was a laborer and member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Green of Dallas and Regina Renae Perry Msigwa of Houston; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Warren Jr. of Virginia, Anthony Warren and Marylin of Bryan and Lyndon Warren of Bryan; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and MacArthur Rice of Houston, Janice and Kenneth Cavitt of Bryan, Linda and Keith Garner of Bryan and Annette Warren of Bryan; and five grandchildren.
Abbie D. Johnson

NAVASOTA — Services for Abbie D. Johnson, 95, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Truevine Baptist Church in Navasota.
The Rev. W. Gantt of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Neblett Cemetery in Navasota.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.
Mrs. Johnson died Friday.
She was a lifelong resident of Navasota and Grimes County. She was a housewife and member of the True Vine Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Johnson.
Survivors include three daughters, Bessie M. Johnson and Ben Annie Johnson, both of Navasota, and Helen R. Myles of Clovis, N.M., a sister, Emma Matthews of Navasota; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Irene Louise Blum Menk

HOUSTON — Graveside services for Irene Louise Blum Menk, 94, of Houston are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mrs. Menk died Thursday in Houston. She was born in Brenham and was a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Menk.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Donald L. Webb of Brenham; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Nizavali Esmail

Services for Nizavali Esmail, 57, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Hassan Kassam will be officiating. Burial will be in the College Station City Cemetery.
Mr. Esmail died Wednesday at his residence.
He was born in Daressalaam, Tanzia, and was a resident of College Station since 1979. He owned and operated Nick’s one-stop convenience store in Bryan. Survivors include his wife, Zainab Esmail of College Station; a son, Alkham Esmail of College Station; a daughter, Narmin Esmail of College Staton; and two sisters, Anis Mithani of San Antonio and Mehrun Jadauji of New York, N.Y.
