Charles Torrey Harper Sr.

THORNDALE — Services for Charles Torrey Harper Sr., 83, of Thorndale are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Burial will be in the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor.
Pastor Vicki Averitt of Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church in Thorndale and the Rev. Bill Fulton will officiate.
Mr. Harper died Monday at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
He was raised in Nashville and Clarksville, Tenn., was a graduate of Clarksville High School, and had had lived in Thorndale for 26 years. Mr. Harper attended the University of Texas for two years and during World War II and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Philippines, where he was a radio operator on a C-47 air transport plane and received the Air Medal.
He was a manager for Sterchi Brothers Furniture Stores in Murfreesboro, Tenn., for 25 years. Mr. Harper was a member of Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Dee Harper of Thorndale; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles T. Harper Jr. and Irene Harper and Stephen D. Harper, all of Fort Worth; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa E. and Cam Stolte of Thorndale; and four granddaughters.

Carey Smith

SINGLETON — Services for Carey Smith, 54, of Bedias are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Nobles Funeral Chapel.
The Revs. Jerald Brown of Bedias Baptist Church and Floyd Hoke of the Church at Singleton Bible Fellowship will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Navasota and retired from the Wallace Pack Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was a member of the Church at Singleton Bible Fellowship.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Smith of Bedias; two stepdaughters, Tori Rae Gardner of Singleton and Heidi and Sonny Rowe of Junction; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Sherrie Smith of Channelview; two grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
John ‘Johnnie’ W. Holick
Sept. 6, 1907 — Dec. 6, 2002
Memorial services for John “Johnnie” W. Holick, 95, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Chapel at Texas A&M University.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home.
Mr. Holick died Friday at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was the owner of Holick’s Boot Makers & Insignia in College Station. He graduated from high school in Bryan and attended Allen Academy. Mr. Holick also served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Holick was a professional musician, playing in theater orchestras, and was a member of the Bryan Civic Orchestra.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Holick of Bryan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen “Kathi” Dudley of College Station, Billie and Jim Reece of Wimberley and Carolyn “Cookie” and Dewayne Matheson of College Station; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Martha Anne Schramm

Martha Anne Schramm, (Marty) January 13, 1922 in Arlington, TN, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2002 in Dallas.
Marty loved to care for people. Even though a very petite woman, her family called her Big Mama for the size of her heart. Mrs. Schramm was the wife of Tex Schramm, the colorful former president of the Dallas Cowboys. Like her husband, she was dedicated to the sport. She organized golf and tennis tournaments for the National Football League and traveled to every Super Bowl with her husband. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her daughters. After raising their children, Mrs. Schramm always accompanied Tex on his NFL travels.
She graduated from Alhambra High School, where she met Mr. Schramm. They married in 1941. Four years later, the couple moved to Austin so Mr. Schramm could finish school at the University of Texas. Mr. Schramm, who was not particularly fond of reading, often said that his wife helped him graduate by doing his homework.
After Mr. Schramm left the Cowboys, the couple spent a lot of time in Key West, FL, where they shared a love for deep-sea fishing. They also traveled to islands in the Caribbean. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mardee Anne Smith on June 5, 1997.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Tex Schramm; daughters, Christi Wilkinson and husband, Bill of San Antonio, and Kandy Court and husband, Greg of Bryan, TX; grandchildren, Todd Smith and wife, Keli of Dallas; Jamie Morris and husband, Thomas of The Woodlands, Shane Engstrom of Key West, FL, Griff Wilkinson of San Antonio, Bret Schramm Court of Bryan, TX and Charli Schramm Court of Bryan, TX.
A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, Northwest Hwy. & Inwood. Private Interment will be at Restland Funeral Home.

Lawrence C. ‘Unky’ Nemec
Jan. 18, 1948 — Dec. 9, 2002
A funeral mass for Lawrence C. “Unky” Nemec, 54, of College Station is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station.
The Rev. Mike Sis will officiate.
Burial will be in the College Station Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday. Deacon Bill Scott will officiate.
Mr. Nemec died Monday at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and a 1966 graduate of A&M Consolidated High School. Mr. Nemec was disabled and worked many years for Payless Shoe Source.
He was a volunteer for the MDA telethons for more than 25 years and was a member of the Heart of Texas CB Radio Club of Bryan. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include a sister, Martha D. Jones of Palestine; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Thomas Wayne Olin
Feb. 7, 1973 — Dec. 10, 2002
HOUSTON — Services for Thomas Wayne Olin, 29, of Pearland are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Jeter Funeral Home in Friendswood.
The Revs. Brad Ottosen, Joe Saffle and Keith Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Olin died Tuesday at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston of complications from a brain tumor.
A lifelong resident of Pearland, Mr. Olin graduated from Texas A&M University, Class of 1995. He earned a degree in business and was a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. He worked as an administrative coordinator for AOL Time Warner in Texas City.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary Jo and George Olin of Pearland.
He is survived by his parents, Hazel and John Thomas Olin of Pearland; a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Helen Olin of Bryan; grandparents Lester and Lorraine Smith of Pearland; three aunts and four uncles, Jackie and Ray Estes and Peggy and Brad Ottosen of Pearland, Pam and Doug Smith of Atascocita and Larry Smith of Friendswood; a niece, Grace Olin of Bryan; and numerous cousins.

Fredrick Leon Lewis

Services for Fredrick Leon Lewis, 44, of Bryan are set for 9 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Cameron.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Thursday and wake service will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Jackson Mortuary Chapel in Cameron. Burial will be at the Houston National Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis died Sunday at his home.
He was born in Cameron. He worked in the maintenance department at Texas A&M University and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include four daughters, Gitania Oges, LeAnna Lewis and Verna Lewis, all of Cameron, and Demetra Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Kevin Lewis of Jacksonville; seven sisters, Patsy Selby of Accomac, Va., Frances Kennard of Corpus Christi, Vanessa Lewis Davis and Velma Moss of Houston, Margaret Lewis of Pocomoke, Md., and Arthur Mary Lewis and Virginia Lewis of Cameron; three brothers, Mack Harvey Lewis Jr. of Rio Rancho, N.M., Steve Lewis of Missouri City and Samuel Lewis of Cameron; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Christine Reagan

Services for Christine Reagan, 91, of Bald Prairie community in Robertson County are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.
Burial will be in the Seale Round Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reagan died Tuesday in College Station.
She was born in the Round Prairie community and was a resident of the Bald Prairie community most of her life. She was a homemaker and received her teaching certificate. Mrs. Reagan was a member of the Bald Prairie Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, J.C. Reagan of Bald Prairie; a daughter, Emma Reagan of Bald Prairie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Erwin and Yvonne Reagan of Marquez and Fred and Patricia Reagan of Groesbeck; two sisters, Geraldine Thomas of Round Prairie and Glenice Carrington of Hearne; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
