George Patrick ‘Pat’ Dougherty

NAVASOTA — A funeral mass for the Rev. George Patrick “Pat” Dougherty, 77, of Katy will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Houston.
A vigil and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home in Houston.
The Rev. Dougherty died Dec. 1 at his home.
He was born in Houston and graduated in 1942 from Lamar High School, where he was a cheerleader. He attended the University of Texas and then joined the Navy, being transferred to the Marine Corps later. He received a Purple Heart for injuries he received in Okinowa.
After returning from the war, he graduated from Ursinus University in Pennsylvania. He worked for Conoco and later decided to become a Catholic priest and began his studies at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston and completed them at Conception Seminary in Missouri.
He served many churches in the Galveston-Houston Diocese and retired in 1991 from St. Patrick’s (Christ Our Light) Catholic Church in Navasota.
Survivors include a sister, Nona Jewel Grazier of Bellville; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lillian Myrle Hoke
Feb. 24, 1921 — Dec. 6, 2002
MADISONVILLE — Services for Lillian Myrle Hoke, 81, of Madisonville are set for 1 p.m. Monday at the J.M. Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville.
The Rev. Dick White will officiate. Burial will be in the Madisonville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hoke died Friday in the College Station Medical Center.
She was born in Madison County and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Hoke.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Ed and Betty Hoke of Madisonville and David Harold and Jeannine Hoke of Dripping Springs; a daughter, Mary Ann Novosad of Madisonville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Kennerson
June 10, 1929 — Dec. 5, 2002
BRENHAM — Services for Dorothy Kennerson, 73, of Somerville are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Somerville Church of God.
The Rev. Stanley Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Lyons Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taft Harris Funeral Home in Brenham.
Survivors include four daughters, two sons, a sister, 19 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Frank J. Krupa

Frank J. Krupa, age 76, of Livingston, TX, died on December 6, 2002 in Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin, TX. He was born on November 21, 1926 in Dime Box, TX, the son of Frank Jerome Krupa, Sr. and Mary Malinak Krupa. Mr. Krupa served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II. He married Rose Marie Vitopil Krupa on April 10, 1948 in Bryan, TX. Mr. Krupa was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Livingston, TX and of V.F.W. Post No. 8568 and Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Jerome Krupa, Sr. and Mary Malinak Krupa; and sister, Delores Tiedt. Mr. Krupa is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Krupa of Livingston, TX; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Frank J. Krupa III of Austin, TX, David J. and Mary Krupa and Kevin J. and Donna Krupa of Dripping Springs, TX; two sisters, Ann Rice of Normangee, TX, and Frances Polansky of Irving, TX; and two grandchildren, Nicholas J. Krupa and Jennifer M. Krupa. The Rosary was held Sunday, December 8, 2002 at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers are: Wallace Walker, Bradley Rice, Bobby Rice, Roland Ruffino, Tim Muzny and Brian Muzny. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Obst and Mike Buright. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, December 9, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Livingston, TX. Father Clifton Labbe will conduct the service. Military honors will be provided by V.F.W. No. 8568. Burial will be at 2:30 PM Monday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bryan, TX. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Rebecca Sue Gilbert
Sept. 7, 1910 — Dec. 6, 2002
MADISONVILLE — Services for Rebecca Sue Gilbert, 92, of Madisonville are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
The Rev. Jeff Witcher will officiate. Burial will be in the Madisonville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Mrs. Gilbert died Friday at her home.
She was born in Madison County and was a graduate of Sam Houston State College. She taught school in Madison County, Palacios, Port LaVaca and Dallas, where she retired from Dallas Baptist College. She also served as the librarian at the First Baptist Church of Madisonville.
Survivors include two nephews and their wives, Louis and Beverly Mitchell of Madisonville and Kenneth and Kaye Mitchell of Spring; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Gideons.
Dorothy Luckey
July 6, 1924 — Dec. 7, 2002
ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Dorothy Luckey, 78, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
The Rev. Calvin Springer will officiate.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Luckey died Saturday in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
She was born in Brenham and lived in Rockdale since 1944. She was a graduate of Brenham High School and the University of Texas and taught school in the Rockdale ISD until 1959. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Rockdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Luckey.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Rebecca Luckey of Rockdale; two daughters, Carol Ann Luckey and Linda Lee Luckey, both of Rockdale; two granddaughters; a niece; and four nephews.

Arthur Luel Lee

MADISONVILLE — Services for Arthur Luel Lee, 89, of Bellaire and formerly of North Zulch are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch.
Burial will be in the Willowhole Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Mr. Lee died Sunday in Bellaire.
He was born and raised in North Zulch and lived in Houston, where he worked 47 years for the Allen Parker Company. He then retired and moved back to North Zulch and became a rancher. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in North Zulch.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Lee of Bellaire; a son, Stephen A. Lee of Houston; two brothers, Donald Lee of North Zulch and W.F. Lee of Houston; a sister, Bobbie Coleman of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rae Rogers
Oct. 3, 1928 — Dec. 8, 2002
Services for Rae Rogers, 74, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
The Baha’i community will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.
Ms. Rogers died Sunday at her home.
She was born in Dallas and lived in Bryan for two years. She was a retired homemaker and was of the Baha’i faith.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Evelyn Carpenter of Tow; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mark Smith of Bryan; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Mildred Rogers of Katy; two sisters, Rea Miller and Freda Hensley; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Gulan Ann Young

Services for Gulan Ann Young, 37, of Austin are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. C.L. King of Mount Nebo Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Belltown Cemetery in the Belltown community.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.
Miss Young died Thursday in Austin.
She was born in Brazos County and employed by Home Health Care. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her fiance, Ray Reed of Austin; two sons, Royce Lee Young and Eric Young, both of Austin; two daughters, Kimberly Ann Young and Nicole Denise Young, both of Austin; two brothers, Calvin E. Young Sr. of Bryan and Carl Lee Young of Austin; five sisters, Level Young Stephey, Olivia Young Degrate and Lillian Denice Young Nasir, all of Waco, Jewel Young and Lasine Young, both of Austin; her parents, Rex Young and Lillian Young, both of Austin; and two grandchildren.
Willie G. Hennard Jr.

CENTERVILLE — Graveside services for Willie G. Hennard Jr., 62, of Marquez are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville.
Mr. Hennard died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Marquez and lived in Leon County for 30 years. He was an equipment operator and was a Baptist.
Survivors include two brothers and a sister-in-law, William and Frankie Hennard of Marquez and Gary Hennard of Concord; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Bob Piper of Houston, JoBell and Ray Haile of Granite Shoals and Patricia Ann Carey of Dallas, Ga.
