Frances Evelyn Davis McCoy

Evelyn McCoy went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2002 in Cypress, Texas. Services will be held Monday, December 2nd at 11 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Rev. J.W. Kornegay officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 1st from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will be at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery in Bryan.
Mrs. McCoy was born in Marlin, Texas, and was a graduate of Marlin High School. She had been a resident of Bryan since 1950 before moving to Park Place in Stafford, Texas, in 1999. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress who is remembered for her love of sewing and flowers. She also delivered papers for the Bryan Daily Eagle for 21 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, A.H. McCoy.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Norma McCoy of Cypress, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and L.G. Crum of College Station and Sallye and Jerry Tucker of Sugar Land, Texas; five grandsons and one granddaughter, Barry and Kelley Crum of Harker Heights, Texas, Douglas and Janell Crum of College Station, Kevin Crum and Robin McCoy, both of College Station, Jason and Jamey Tucker of Sugar Land and Scott Tucker of Sugar Land; three step-grandchildren, Tracey and Gus Yepes of Odessa, Florida, Jamie Tucker of Sugar Land and Brent Tucker; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Pratt, Chad Pratt, Jasmine Crum, Andrew Crum, Elizabeth Crum, Aaron Crum and Anna Yepes. She is also survived by a half-brother, B.L. Davis of Houston, and a brother-in-law, W.W. McCoy of Dallas, several cousins, two nephews and a multitude of friends.

Romanita Nita Vaca Barrera

Romanita Vaca Barrera, loving wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother, departed this earth on November 29, 2002. She was one of the first Hispanic businesswomen of Bryan, starting her own beauty shop in the 1950s and practicing her trade for 40 years. Her small shop was a social gathering place for many local women.
Romanita Vaca was born August 9, 1930 in Hearne, Texas, and was a resident of Bryan for over 65 years. She was the oldest of six daughters to Secundino Vaca and Maria Herrera Vaca. Her early education was cut short due to helping support her family and serve as a migrant farm worker as a youth. While still a teen, she attended beauty school in Waco, Texas, graduating in 1950. At the age of twenty she was required to heavily assist with family expenses for a house of eight, including her parents. She was very creative and was always working on projects. She was an avid seamstress and crafter all of her life and at the age of 70, she taught herself to paint.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Secundino Vaca and Maria Herrera Vaca; and two sisters, Suzie Alvarez and Dora Lopez.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Victor Barrera; daughters, Teresa Barrera of Bryan and Mary Ann Vaca-Lambert and her husband Mark Lambert of Houston; her grandson, James Barrera; and her sisters, Alice Pena of Austin, Gloria Vasquez and her husband George Vasquez of Austin and Maria Garrison of Houston; and nephews, Moses Alvarez Jr. of Bryan and his family, and Phil Alvarez of Fort Worth and his family; and other close relatives, including 11 other nieces, nephews and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2002 at the Sanctuary of Praise, 1216 Beck, Bryan, Texas. Pastor Jose P. Alaniz, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Sanctuary of Praise Church.
Romanita died as she lived, always wanting to give to others, her body being willed to science.

Services for Dorothy Love Wood Partin, 67, of Porter, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 1 at the Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, Texas.
Burial will be in Farris Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Partin will lie in state through out the remainder of the day.
Mrs. Partin died Wednesday in Houston, Texas.
She was born in Walker County, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Georgia Love; three brothers, Lanny Love, G.D. Love and Weldon Love; and her husband, Georgie Wood.
Survivors include her husband, Benny Partin of Porter, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond and Debbie Wood of Bryan, Texas, and Perry Wood of Huntsville, Texas; a daughter, Janice Wood of Humble, Texas; three granddaughters, Kathryn Wood Sheppard of San Marcos, Texas, Ellen Wood of Summerville and Tessa Bryant of The Woodlands, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Caitlin Sheppard of San Marcos, Texas; three sisters, Molly Sylvester, Audrey Mayfield and Ruby Holder; five brothers, Wayne Love, Lloyd Love, Jimmy Love, Butch Love and Alton Love; and many nieces and nephews.

ROCKDALE Graveside services for Elsie M. Caywood, 90, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Rockdale I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
The Rev. Dennis Maddox of the First United Pentecostal Church in Rockdale will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Caywood died Friday at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
She was a lifelong resident of Rockdale and worked 20 years with her husband in the roofing business. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Caywood, and a son, William Clinard.
Survivors include two sons, Myrl Clinard of Raeford, N.C., and Van Clinard of South Dakota; two daughters, Bernice Stephens Stewart of Rockdale and Jean Wehrman of San Marcos; a brother, Eugene English of Lake Charles, La.; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

BRENHAM Services for Jo Nell Prastik Hunt, 73, of Brenham are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Brenham.
The Revs. Wesley Wellborn and Fred Trevino will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mrs. Hunt died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
She was born in Sugar Land and lived in Brenham since 1991. She graduated from Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated High School and Wharton County Junior College. She lived in Houston 29 years prior to moving to Brenham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Dale Hunt; and two step-sons, James Hunt and Gregory Hunt.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Hunt of Simonton, Christopher and Karen Hunt of Kanehoe, Hawaii, and Milton Hunt of Houston; a daughter, Kathleen Hunt of Brenham; a brother, James Prastik of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Kennedy of Houston; four grandchildren; two nieces; a nephew; an aunt; an uncle; and two cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Brenham.

Ms. James died Wednesday in the Cypress-Fairbanks Medical Center in Houston.
She was born in Austin and lived in Channelview nine years. She worked as a courier for Fed-Ex and worked for various delivery companies for 20 years.
Survivors include her mother, Valeara Bates of Austin; and two brothers, Carl E. Erwin and Jimmie Don Bates, both of Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Bates Kelm of Brenham; his father and step-mother, Rueben and Mary Kelm of Brenham; a son, Eric Kelm of Brenham; a daughter, Larissa Kelm of Brenham; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Richard McCord of Brenham; a step-sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Wayne Hunderhuse; and his mother-in-law, Ruth Bates of Brenham.

She was born in Marlin and lived in Stafford since 1999. Prior to her move to Stafford, she lived in Bryan since 1950. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a graduate of Marlin High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bryan. She also delivered papers for The Bryan Daily Eagle for 21 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton H. McCoy.

SHEPHERD, Texas Elton Le Roy Shaner, 77, formerly of Bryan, died Friday at Woodland Park Nursing Home in Shepherd.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew William Shaner of Albuquerque, N.M., and Charles Sigman Shaner of Stewartville, Minn.; a daughter, Marthe Shaner of Shepherd; and four grandchildren.
