CALDWELL — Services for Thomas Fred Urban Sr., 88, of Schulenburg are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
The Revs. Henry Beseda and Bob Owens will officiate. Burial will be in the Hranice Cemetery near Dime Box.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 a.m. to the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Urban died Friday in the Fayette Memorial Hospital in La Grange.
He was born in Burleson County and was a retired farmer and rancher. He was a member of the VSTIN CMB Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Carol Urban of Schulenburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Dennis Groce of Caldwell; and three grandchildren.
Catherine S. McCarthy Beikirch

IOLA — Private services for Catherine S. McCarthy Beikirch, 77, of Iola will be at a later date in New York.
Arrangements are under the direction of Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Bedias.
Mrs. Beikirch died Wednesday.
She was born in Rochester, N.Y., and was retired from the electronics field as a technician. She was a Catholic and was a member of the American Women’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, James Beikirch of Iola; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Pointer of Iola; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven Beikirch of Iola, David and Michele Beikirch of Brockport, N.Y., and James Beikirch of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Evelyn Annette Peterson
Dec. 22, 1939 — Jan. 26, 2003
MADISONVILLE — Evelyn Annette Peterson, 63, of North Zulch died Sunday at the Madison St. Joseph Health Center in Madisonville.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Peterson was born in Baton Rouge, La., and was a resident of North Zulch for two years, formerly living in Houston. She was employed by the Pasadena Police Department as a PBX supervisor for 20 years, retiring in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Peterson; and a son, Alan Knighten.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Glenn Fountain of North Zulch; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Wayne and Roberta Knighten of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Billy Ray Pruitt of Baton Rouge; and two granddaughters.
Alfonse Lloyd Schoppe
May 31, 1922 — Jan. 26, 2003
CAMERON — Services for Alfonse Lloyd Schoppe, 80, of Cameron are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron.
The Rev. Walter Matus will officiate. Burial will be at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Frenstat.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mr. Schoppe died Sunday in a Temple nursing facility.
He was born in Birch and attended Birch schools. At the age of 16 he enrolled in a work-training program for youths, NYA, at Inks Lake to learn the trades of trades cooking, carpentry and mechanics. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of staff sergeant and serving as a cook. He was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bernadette Marek Schoppe.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Rose Marie Schoppe of Cyclone, Michael and JoAnn Schoppe of Cameron, Al and Diann Schoppe of Temple, Robert and Geneivieve Schoppe of Marak, and George and Rene Schoppe of Gatesville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Katherine “Kathy” Schoppe of Temple and Bernadette and Steve Jochec of Cameron; a brother, Julius Schoppe of Texas City; two sisters, Alice Wisniewski and Gloria Kubeczka, both of Brenham; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Helen Sparks

TEMPLE — Services for Helen Sparks, 84, of Bryan and formerly of Temple are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
Burial will be at Bellwood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sparks died Friday at a Bryan nursing center.
She was born in Marquez and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Sam Houston State University. She was a teacher for 38 years, retiring in 1977. She taught 16 of those years in the Killeen ISD. She was a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association, and was a member of National Education Association and the National Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Alumni Association of Sam Houston State University and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Temple.
Survivors include a sister, Rutha Sparks Biggs of Flint; a great-nephew, Kent Watson and his wife, Sharie, of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandra Kay Babic
March 29, 1954 — Jan. 25, 2003
CALDWELL — Services for Sandra Kay Babic, 48, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Ernest Budewig and Joe Dan Franklin of the Gospel Fellowship Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Chriesman Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Babic died Saturday in Weimar.
She was born in Houston and was a secretary for the Bryan school district.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Babic.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Eddie Vaughn and Barbara Sherrard of Caldwell; her mother and step-father, Minnie Wood and Horace Harwood of Caldwell.
Mary Boudreaux

NAVASOTA — Services for Mary Boudreaux, 94, of Navasota are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham.
The Rev. Edward C. Kucera Jr. of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home in Navasota and from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
A parish rosary and vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Boudreaux died Monday at Gazebo Terrace in Brenham.
She was born in Centerville, La., and lived in Navasota 12 years. She was a homemaker and formerly lived in Houston. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert J. Boudreaux.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Doris Boudreaux of Huffman; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Leland Fougeron of Navasota; a sister, Edna Martin of China, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy W. Bracken

Mrs. Bracken died Sunday in Bryan.
She was born in Johnstown, Pa., and was a bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Bracken.

Mr. Glass died Sunday in Navasota.
He was born in Bedias and was a house leveler. He served in the military during World War II.

Thurman Lee Harland

CALDWELL — Graveside services for Thurman Lee Harland, 70, of Caldwell are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Chriesman Cemetery.
Jimmy Hail of the Blackjack Baptist Church will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mr. Harland died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Seymore and was a longtime resident of Caldwell. He was a retired oil field worker.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Vick.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Harland of Caldwell; three sons, Danny Harland of New Braunfels, Donny Harland of Waco and Jerry Harland of Midland; three daughters, Connie Mitchell of Houston, Brenda Gaskins of Chriesman and Chasity Arbuckle of Caldwell; a sister, Francis Anderson of Farmington, N.M.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
