Fred Robert Brison
Dec 6, 1941 - Jan 15, 2003
Fred Robert Brison passed away January 15, 2003 at his home with his wife Patricia by his side. He was born December 6, 1941 in College Station, Texas and was preceded in death by his parents Fred Brison, Sr. and Vera Dean Brison.
Fred grew up in College Station and graduated in 1960 from A&M Consolidated High School. After spending two years at Texas A&M University, he transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with degrees in philosophy and economics and also received his MBA. It was during his time in Austin that he met Patricia. They were married on July 11, 1964. After living in Austin and Belgium, they settled in Houston. Degrees in hand, Fred took a job with Texaco, where he worked for a few years as a computer consultant, but something about the corporate world did not agree with him, so he decided to chart his own course and become an entrepreneur. During the course of a varied career, Fred founded a number of unique and successful businesses. He loved the excitement and thrill of a new venture. His interests led him to the fields of video production, computer leasing, marketing consulting, business model design, and alternative health care. Fred enjoyed gardening and he and Patricia loved creating a scenic “vista” in their backyard. He was a music lover and played guitar, but his favorite pastime was working and relaxing on the family pecan farm in central Texas. Friends will remember Fred for a number of admirable qualities, but anyone who knew him well knew that he was a fighter. He never gave up when faced with adversity, but used his positive attitude to overcome obstacles and inspire those around him to do the same. He was a loving husband, a dedicated father, and a loyal friend. He always expected the best from people and made them want to live up to those expectations. We will forever miss his quick wit, his eternal optimism, his wry humor, his charming grin, and his warm, loving nature.
Fred is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughter, Amanda Swann and husband Philip, son, Andrew Brison, and granddaughter, Claire Swann. Friends are invited to celebrate the life of this special man at a memorial service on Saturday, January 25 at 11 a.m. at The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive, Houston, Texas. Services will be officiated by Dr. Bob Waters. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to MD Anderson Prostate Cancer Center, c/o Dr. Logothetis, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Box 427, Houston, Texas 77030 or to Houston Hospice, 8811 Gaylord, Houston, Texas 77024.
