Mildred Jean Gerke

MADISONVILLE — Services for Mildred Jean Gerke, 73, of North Zulch are set for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch.
Fred Keefer of the North Zulch Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the Willowhole Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gerke died Sunday at the Madisonville Care Center.
She was born in Madison County, was raised in North Zulch and returned to North Zulch in 1982. She also lived in Navasota and worked at the Colonial Café for many years and had lived in Madisonville for 18 months before her death. She was a member of the North Zulch Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Royce and Pam Gerke of Bryan and Larry and Becky Gerke of Navasota; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Bobby McGee of Navasota; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Virginia Kelley of Sryinga, Va.; a sister, Leta Faye Burchett of North Zulch; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Cathy Sue Cornforth Jackson
May 28, 1954 — Jan. 17, 2003
HEARNE — Graveside services for Cathy Sue Cornforth Jackson, 48, of Dallas are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Norwood Cemetery in Hearne.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.
Mrs. Jackson died Friday in Dallas.
She was born in Hearne and lived in Dallas for a few years. She was an insurance underwriter and a Methodist. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dallas and North Texas State University in Denton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Jackson.
Survivors include a son, Mark Steven Jackson of Dallas; a step-son, Graham Jackson of Denton; her mother, Mary Ann Cornforth of Dallas; and her grandmother, Emma Golla of Seguin.
Emily Gears Mittelstedt Riggs
Sept. 24, 1914 — Jan. 19, 2003
MADISONVILLE — Services for Emily Gears Mittelstedt Riggs, 88, of Spring and formerly of Normangee are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Riggs died Sunday.
She was born in North Harris County and attended Jeff Davis High School. She was a licensed vocational nurse (lvn) and worked at Heights Hospital before her retirement and move to Normangee. She was active in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch and later joined Cornerstone Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, W.E. “Bill” Mittelstedt.
Survivors include her husband, W. Teal Riggs; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Laura Mittelstedt; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanette and Edward Naumann, Vivian Taylor and Judy and Nelson Laningham; three sisters, Edith Rice, Annie Sullivan and Rose Vincent; a brother, Herman Gears; two sisters-in-law, Esther Foster and Pauline Dillard; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
John Lewis Shaw
March 28, 1931 — Jan. 20, 2003
Private services for John Lewis Shaw, 71, of Chappell Hill will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Shaw died Monday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in San Diego, Calif., and attended the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and formerly owned and operated a floral shop in Chappell Hill.
Survivors include a brother, Donald Shaw of Lufkin.
Sherman Turner
Jan. 13, 1941 — Jan. 18, 2003
Graveside services for Sherman Turner, 62, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bryan City Cemetery.
The Revs. M.O. Cooper and J.C. Kennard will officiate.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Turner died Saturday.
He was born in Wheelock and lived in Bryan for 15 years. He was retired from day care and was a member of the Trail Rider Association. He graduated from Kemp High School and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Sherryl Turner of Bryan; two sons, Adrian Michael Turner of Los Angeles and Kevin Wayne Wright of Dallas; two daughters, Myra Nowlin of Plano and Hope Anderson of Dallas; and a sister, Cornelia Smith of Houston.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Jim Carl Fincher

A memorial service for Jim Carl Fincher, 40, of Bryan is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
The Rev. Wayne Flagg will officiate. Burial will be at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home.
Mr. Fincher died Sunday in Navasota Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.
He was born in San Jose, Calif. He was an interpreter for the deaf with Communications Access Interpreting.
Survivors include two brothers, Paul Fincher of Hearne and Dennis Schumacher of Houston; and his mother, Virginia Mead of Houston.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary.
Mrs. Hutchinson died Saturday in Franklin.
She was born in Cawthon and lived most of her life in Bryan. She was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, A.D. Hutchinson of Bryan; two brothers, Roby Mallard and I.V. Mallard, both of Pampa; two sisters, Mary Hanks of Bryan and Nicy Mathis of Pampa; and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Beckson, Josephine Brown and Ola Mae Saint, all of Dallas.
James H. Copp

Services for James H. Copp, 77, of College Station are set for noon to 1 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Chapel on the A&M campus. The family will host an open house at their home immediately following.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Copp died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Thief River Falls, Minn., and was a retired professor of sociology at Texas A&M University.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica Copp of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Peggy Copp of Clovis, Calif.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Christine Avery and Terry Johnson of State College, Pa., Karen Copp and Steve Hendrix of Iowa City, Iowa, Sarah Copp and Humberto Laroche of Ocean, N.J., and Martha Copp and Jeff Supplee of Johnson City, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
Emma Della Herman

Services for Emma Della Herman, 88, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Herman died Monday at her home.
She was born in Kurten and lived in Brazos County for 53 years. She was a housewife and member of Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Herman.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Herman of Bryan; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ada and Derwin Gustavus of Bryan.
