Anna Sue “Granny” Rice Phillips
Oct. 4, 1920 — Jan. 17, 2003

NAVASOTA — Services for Anna Sue “Granny” Rice Phillips, 82, of Shiro are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Shiro United Methodist Church.

The Revs. Kelly Krone of Shiro United Methodist Church and Tom Connelly of Lakeside United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Shiro Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

Mrs. Phillips died Friday in Huntsville.

She was born in Amity, Ark., and was a member of Shiro United Methodist Church. She was a railroad depot agent.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Frank Rice and Willard E. Phillips.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Thelma Rice of Huntsville and Victor and Sue Rice of Streetman; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Lou Ann Phillips, Gary and Patricia Phillips, and Danny and Ona Ruth Phillips, all of Dacus; a sister, Mary Nell Burchfield of Vallejo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Lester H. Ruddick
Nov. 27, 1932 — Jan. 17, 2003

HEARNE — Services for Lester H. Ruddick, 70, of Gause are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Gause Baptist Church.

Jimmy Sanders of the Gause Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Gause Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Ruddick died Friday in the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Temple.

He was preceded in death by two children, Hoby Ruddick and Roxanne Ruddick.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ruddick of Gause; two sons, John Bounds of Gause and Robert Owen of Dallas; four daughters, Cindy Bumpus of Odessa, Nelda Aleman of Hearne, Anna Riley and Lou Ann Gennette, both of Gause; two brothers, Charles Ruddick and Elbert Ruddick, both of Hearne; a sister, Bobbie McCorry of Santa Fe; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mary Helen Aguilar Martinez
Feb. 2, 1938 — Jan. 18, 2003

Services for Mary Helen Aguilar Martinez, 64, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

Monsignor John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Martinez died Saturday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born in San Antonio and lived in Bryan for 15 years. She was a retired homemaker and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of numerous prayer groups. She was secretary-treasurer of the Amateur Boxing Association and was a National Judge of USA Boxing.

Survivors include her husband, Jose V. Martinez of Bryan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Renee Martinez and Vince and Laura Martinez, all of California; a daughter, Mary Emmons of Bryan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Helen Aguilar of Houston and Anthony and Mary Lou Aguilar of San Antonio; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lillian and Theodore Stein of New York; a sister-in-law, Carmen Aguilar of San Antonio; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Mary Martinez Trust Fund, c/o Rufino Romero at Guaranty Trust Bank.

Lynn Connor
Dec. 14, 1906 — Jan. 18, 2003

Services for Lynn Connor, 96, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Hillier Funeral Home.

The Rev. Tim Skaggs of Central Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Mrs. Connor died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Brazos County and was retired as owner of the La Mar Beauty Shoppe. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Nitch Jr. and H. E. Connor.

Survivors include a sister, Josephine Gee of Poteau, Okla.

Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund.

Jessie Martin Dunham
Jan. 15, 1921 — Jan. 18, 2003

Services for Jessie Martin Dunham, 82, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home.

The Rev. Philip McLarty of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dunham died Saturday in Plano.

She was born in Burleson County and was a retired homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace E. Dunham.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wallace E. Jr. and Vivian Dunham of Seguin and Joe M. and Judy Dunham of Richardson; a brother-in-law, Bailey Dunham of Bryan; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.

Larry Ernest Lee
Aug. 17, 1958 — Jan. 18, 2003

BUFFALO — Services for Larry Ernest Lee, 44, of the Flo community near Buffalo are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Buffalo Funeral Home.

The Rev. Kenneth Stone will officiate. Burial will be in the Siloam Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lee died Saturday in a Houston hospital.

He was born in Houston and worked as a farmhand. He was a member of the Garden Road Baptist Church in Brookside Village near Pearland.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Lee of the Flo community; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Janet Lee of Houston; a sister, Mary Lee Johnson of Slocum; and four nieces.

Mildred Faye Brossart
1908 — 2003

Mildred Faye Brossart went to be with her Lord on January 19, 2003. She was born December 12, 1908 in Columbia, Missouri, to John & Nora Kelly. She grew up in Central Missouri and lived most of her life in St. Louis, Missouri, and Albany, Oregon.

She worked many years for Cupples Products in St. Louis, before retiring. She was a member of the North Albany Baptist Church and took an active role in church activities.

She enjoyed reading, singing, and was a devoted mother and wife.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Frederick Brossart.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Fred J. & Jan Brossart; three Grandchildren, Dr. Daniel F. & Rebecca Brossart, Pamela A. & Michael Cooke and Tyler F. & Darcie Brossart as well as four Great Grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Brossart and Lauren and Anne Cooke.

A Private Service is planned for the immediate family at First Baptist Church of Bryan with Pastor Tim Owens officiating.

Local arrangements under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home.

Emanuel L. Morgan Sr.
Sept. 30, 1945 — Jan. 18, 2003

Services for Emanuel L. Morgan Sr., 57, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bryan Church of God.

The Rev. U.L. Green of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and Tommie Sparks of New Liberty Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Morgan died Saturday in Sherwood Health Care.

He was born in Brenham and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He was a security guard and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Sparks of Bryan; six sons, Emanuel Morgan Jr. and Mike Bradford, both of Houston, Tyrone Dailey of College Station, Bobby Clay, James Clay and Alin Webster, all of Bryan; five daughters, Angela Sweed of Houston, LaSay Taylor, Tracie Webster, Jamie Clay and Chairty Clay, all of Bryan; five brothers, Raymond Morgan of Bryan, Calvin W. Morgan of Clay, Aaron Morgan Jr., Milton Morgan and Patrick Morgan, all of Houston; four sisters, Delores Morgan of Somerville, Doris J. Morgan Higginbottom of Katy, Shirley Morgan and Liz Morgan, both of Galveston; his parents, Elnora Hudson of Somerville and Aaron Morgan Sr. of Galveston; and 10 grandchildren.

Harold D. Falk
Aug. 28, 1941 — Jan. 18, 2003

BREMOND — Services for Harold D. Falk, 61, of Bremond are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bremond Funeral Home.

The Rev. Stan Ortner of the First Baptist Church in Bremond will officiate. Burial will be in the Falk Family Cemetery near Bremond.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Falk died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Lawton, Okla., and lived in Bremond for three years. He was a truckdriver and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Letha Falk of Bremond; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Harold G. Falk and Jerry D. and Patricia Falk, all of Bremond, a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Don and Rita Falk of Arlington; a sister, Yvonne Goebeck of Lawton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
