James Robert Stanley

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for James Robert Stanley, 88, of Lee County are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood.
The Rev. Joel Stevenson and Randle Yonts will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mr. Stanley died Friday at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Lockhart.
He was a lifelong resident of Lee County and was a carpenter. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry R. Stanley and James Robert Stanley.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Inez Stanley of Sweeny; a son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Evelyn Stanley of Brazoria; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lynn Battle Nitch Connor
Dec. 14, 1906 — Jan. 18, 2003
Mrs. Lynn Connor, 96, of Bryan passed away Saturday morning at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. She was born in the Rock Prairie Community of Bryan, TX. She attended Rock Prairie Elementary School and College Station High School. She was the owner of La Mar Beauty Shoppe of Bryan. She was a charter member of College Ave. Baptist Church, now Central Baptist Church of Bryan, where she taught a junior Sunday School class for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Horace Battle & Emma Royder Battle, two husbands: Charles Nitch, Jr. and J.E. Connor, and a brother: Doris Battle.
Survivors include her sister: Josephine Gee of Poteau OK; one nephew: Bobby Gee of McCurtain, OK; four nieces: Beverly Kidd of Tulsa, OK, Linda Murry of Fort Smith, AR, Phyllis Buffington and her husband Robert of Bryan, and Constance Zoller and her husband John of Troup, TX; two stepsons: Hugh “Skipper” Connor of Baltimore, MD and Jack Connor of Tulsa, OK.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hillier Funeral Home with interment in Bryan City Cemetery. Rev. Tim Skaggs will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
George T. Blazek
April 1, 1909 — Jan. 18, 2003
Services for George T. Blazek, 93, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.
Monsignor John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rev. Kirby Garner of St. Anthony Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Blazek died Saturday at St. Joseph Manor.
He was born in the Smetana community of Brazos County, graduated from Bryan High School and attended Texas A&M University. He was in the banking business 21 years, starting at City National Bank and later First National Bank. He did accounting and tax work until his retirement in 1982.
He was a charter member of St. Joseph’s CCD, serving as president and vice-president. He was a charter member and director of St. Joseph’s Council and was also a member of the choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, SPJST, American Legion Post 159 and served as a member of the board of directors for the Wheelock and Smetana Cemetery associations. He also was one of the founders of the Good Samaritan Pregnancy Services Inc., serving as director and treasurer from 1980 to 1986.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of captain, serving with the 88th Infantry “Blue Devils” Division, 5th USA. He was awarded numerous decorations and citations for his service on the battlefield. He was a longtime member of the Brazos County A&M Club, the Aggie Quarterback Club and the Aggie Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Blazek of Bryan; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Vera Blazek of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or the St. Joseph School Fund.
Alyce Bock
March 31, 1919 — Jan. 17, 2003
Services for Alyce Bock, 83, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
The Revs. Carroll Fancher and Harrel Dunnam of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bock died Friday at her home.
She was born in Houston and lived in Bryan since 1953. She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress for Bea’s Alterations. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, the Bridge Club and did volunteer work for the Wesley Foundation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester C. Bock.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Robert Bullock and Nancy and Dana Kaderka, all of Bryan; a brother, Bobby Crouch of Johnstown, Colo.; a sister, Viola Crouch of Alvin; five granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
Tony Dileo

Services for Tony Dileo, 89, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan.
The Rev. Kirby Garner of St. Anthony Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dileo died Saturday at Sherwood Health Care.
He was born in Brazos County and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He was retired as a humane officer for the Bryan Police Department. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie J. Dileo.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Billy Pope of Bryan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Frances Dileo, and Luke and Margaret Dileo, all of Bryan; a sister, Frances DeMottier of Bryan; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the Brazos Valley Alzheimer’s Association.
Beverly Patranella

Services for Beverly Patranella, 73, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Monday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Patranella died Thursday at Bryton Inn in College Station.
She was born in New Orleans, La., and lived in College Station since 1965. She was a retired homemaker and was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Patranella.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Debbie Patranella of Iola; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Gregory Bessette of Bryan, Jeanne and Michael Maddox, and Rose and Jim Rosser, all of Somerville; a brother and sister-in-law, Jacob and Juanita Elstrott of New Orleans; a sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Bill Dupry of New Orleans; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

NAVASOTA — Services for Anne H. Blount, 82, of Iola are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church in Keith.
The Revs. Billy Adkisson and Herbert Richards of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
Mrs. Blount died Friday in College Station.
She was born in Walker County and was a retired teacher. She was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Iola.
Survivors include her husband, Talmadge Blount of Iola; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rita Blount of Iola, and Patricia and Jim Kyle of Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Joseph Edward Hadley

Visitation for Joseph Edward Hadley, 75, of College Station, formerly of Houston, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station. No services are planned.
Mr. Hadley died Saturday in the College Station Medical Center.
He was born in Olivia and was a member of the Humble North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Naval Flight Club in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris L. Hadley; and a son, Steven J. Hadley.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Gentry of Houston and Lorri Stary of College Station; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph E. Jr. and Debbie Hadley of Tomball, Dennis V. and Glenda Hadley of Livingston, and Frank A. and Donna Hadley of Magnolia; a sister, Elizabeth Abernathy of Kaufman; and 11 grandchildren.
