Bertha D. Hogg Dotson
Aug. 5, 1898 — Jan. 6, 2003

BRENHAM — Services for Bertha D. Hogg Dotson, 104, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Joe Don Brymer will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.

Mrs. Dotson died Monday in Brenham.

She was born in Palestine and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dotson.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lucille Foehner and Dr. William A. Lange of Burton and Opal Cox of New Orleans, La.; a son-in-law, Hixon Cowan of Temple; a daughter-in-law, Ethel Dotson of Salado; a sister-in-law, Edna Nichols of Baytown; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Albert Englemann
Feb. 9, 1930 — Jan. 5, 2003

CALDWELL — Services for Albert Englemann, 72, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.

The Rev. Jack Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery in Burleson County.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Englemann died Sunday.

He was born in Burleson County and was a longtime resident of Bryan. He was retired from Texas A&M University and was a rancher. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Northview Baptist Church in Bryan.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jane Mais Englemann.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Englemann of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Jeannie Englemann of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mark McCulloch of Bryan; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, David and Gail Grigsby and Tim and Sara Grigsby, all of Angleton; two step-daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda and Ed Wilds of Rowlette and Karla Grigsby of Bryan; two brothers, Charles Englemann and Milton Englemann, both of Caldwell; two sisters, Katheryn Court of Caldwell and Laura Hannes of Lexington; and 10 grandchildren.

Lois Harris
Jan. 21, 1922 — Jan. 5, 2003

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Lois Harris, 80, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

The Rev. Paul Kethley of St. John’s United Methodist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Harris died Sunday in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

She was born in Bolivar, Mo., and lived in Rockdale for 21 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Ken Harris of Rockdale; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Karen Keith of New Braunfels and Vicki Lynne and Benny Linley of Victoria; step-children, Kenneth III and Betty Harris of Dallas, Mike and Lorrie Harris of Cameron, Judi and Dario Juarez of Fort Worth and Jeanette and Skip Cross of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Arlene Nixon
May 12, 1910 — Dec. 30, 2002

DALLAS — Graveside services for Arlene Nixon, 92, of Dallas and formerly of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Restever Memorial Park.

Dr. Tim Owen of First Baptist Church of Bryan will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Nixon died Monday.

She was born in Van Zandt County and had lived in Bryan for 67 years.

Mrs. Nixon was a graduate of Canton High School and North Texas State Normal College. She was a Sunday school teacher and choir member for 40 years at First Baptist Church in Bryan. She was a member of the Bryan Woman’s Club for 50 years and president in 1957 and 1969, a member of the Bryan Garden Club and president and board member for the Girls’ Club of Brazos County. She won the Outstanding Older Texan Award of Recognition in the 1980s from Gov. Bill Clements. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Angus Gray “Nick” Nixon.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sharlene Nixon and Jack Allday of Dallas; a sister, Marcy Allen Toalson of Bryan; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Girls Club of Brazos County, 308 W. 24th St., Bryan, Texas 77803.

Elton David Smith
Feb. 7, 1923 — Jan. 6, 2003

Private memorial services will be held for Elton David Smith, 79, of College Station.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith died Monday at his home.

He was born in Houston and lived in College Station for 43 years. He was a retired electrician and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Fambro of Bryan.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Smith of College Station; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Sherry and Daniel Ginzel of College Station, Pam Fambro of Bryan, Penny and John Black of Richardson, Angela Smith and Da-Lynette and Marvin Meininger, all of College Station; a brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Ivy Vernon of Crosby; a sister; a brother; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethel Temple Assembly of God Building Fund, 2608 E. Villa Maria Road, Bryan, Texas 77802.

Ollie Tom Lenz
Sept. 30, 1928 — Jan. 6, 2003

Services for Ollie Tom Lenz, 74, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Monsignor John Malinowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral.

Mr. Lenz died Monday at St. Joseph Skilled Unit.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He was a member of Sons of Hermann, Cedar Creek Masonic Lodge No. 300 and the American Legion. He was a self-employed plaster contractor, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Lenz of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Joan Lenz of Bryan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gail Lenz, Alecia and Ronnie Arnold, and Debra and Dana Russell, all of Bryan; a brother, Edgar Lenz of Bryan; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Joseph Catholic School.

Javier Hernandez Minor
June 25, 1984 — Jan. 1, 2003

BRACKETVILLE — Memorial services for Javier Hernandez Minor, 18, of College Station are set for 5 p.m. Friday at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in College Station.

The Rev. Dean Wilhelm will officiate.

Mr. Hernandez died Wednesday in Bracketville as a result of an automobile accident.

He was a 2002 graduate of A&M Consolidated High School, where he participated in JV football. He was enrolled at Blinn College and worked at Arby’s.

Survivors include his parents, Vicente and Yolanda Hernandez of College Station; a sister, Elizabeth Hernandez of Irving; and a brother, Gilberto Hernandez of Quantico, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for religious education.

Nanette ‘Nanno’ Marie Biersdorfer
Nov. 2, 1956 — Jan. 3, 2002

Services for Nanette “Nanno” Marie Biersdorfer, 46, of Houston are set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home in Houston.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to the time of services Thursday at the funeral home with a reception to follow. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Jim Giannantonio will officiate.

Mrs. Biersdorfer died Friday in College Station.

She was born in Trenton, Mich. She received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Northern Michigan University, an associate’s degree in accounting from Northwestern Michigan College and a master’s degree in social work at the University of Houston. She worked at Interfaith Care Partners as a care team case manager.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Biersdorfer of Houston; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanine and Jim Gouge of College Station; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Keane Michelin; a half-sister, Terri Hartigan; two stepchildren, Eric and Stephanie Biersdorfer; a granddaughter; and several relatives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6301 Richmond Ave., Houston, Texas 77057; Interfaith Care Partners in Houston; Hospice of Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th St., Bryan, Texas 77803 or Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2400 Wilcrest Drive, Houston, Texas 77042.
