Velda Leyerle

Services for Velda Leyerle, 90, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Hillier Funeral Home n Bryan.
The Rev. Tim Skaggs of Central Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station Cemetery.
Mrs. Leyerle died Monday at St. Joseph Skilled Nursing Unit. She was born in Nyberg, Colo., and lived in Bryan for the past 25 years. Mrs. Leyerle was a member of the Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Faith Sunday School Class and Central Baptist Church. She was a volunteer for the Bryan Police Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Walter Leyerle.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Walter William and Pamela Leyerle of The Colony; three daughters and a son-in-law, Doris Yvonne and Robert Cooley and Lois Ilene Mercatoris, all of Bryan, and Dixie Rose Voskamp of Brenham; a sister, Dorothy Virginia Lane of Rogue River, Ore.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

William H. Bosmann

HOUSTON — A funeral mass for William H. Bosmann, 80, of Katy is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy.
The Rev. Monsignor Jack M. Dinkins will officiate.
A wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Katy.
Deacon Don Kish will officiate.
Additional funeral services will be held on Monday at the Fredrick J. Chapey Funeral Home in West Islip, N.Y. Graveside services will follow at the Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island in Calverton, N.Y.
Mr. Bosmann died Monday in Houston.
He was born in the Bronx, New York. He had lived in the Katy area for 1 1Ú2 years and in the Bryan-College Station area before that. He was a member of the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Bosmann of Katy; three sons, William “Bill” Bosmann of Sparta, N.J.; Daniel Bosmann of Budd Lake, N.Y., and Michael Bosmann of Everett, Wash.; four daughters, Carolyn Chomka of Katy, Laura LaCorte, of Long Island, N.Y., Patricia DeJoy, of La Jolla, Calif., and Betsy Crenshaw of Chicago; a brother, Fred Bosmann of Bay Shore, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren.
John J. ‘J.J.’ Young
Aug. 15, 1926 — Feb. 25, 2003
Graveside memorial services for John J. “J.J.” Young, 76, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryan City Cemetery.
Monsignor John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Young died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in New York, N.Y., and retired after a career in the steel industry. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member of Brazos County VFW Post No. 4692.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Vaughn Young of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jack Ryan of Connecticut; and numerous nephews, nieces, and grandnephews.
Peter Alexander Gurka

CHAPPELL HILL— Services for Peter Alexander Gurka, 49, of Chappell Hill are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
The Rev. Gene Shepard will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mr. Gurka died Tuesday in Brenham. He was born in Houston and worked at Valmont in Brenham. He was a graduate of Montgomery High School and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include two sons, Josh and Andy Gurka, both of Brenham; his mother, Irene Konieczny Gurka of Chappell Hill; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Joe and Sherry Gurka of Montgomery, Robert Lee and Debbie Gurka of Santa Fe and Jerry Eugene and Victoria Gurka of Chappell Hill; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie Ann and Bennie Bolcerek of Brenham and Diane Marie and Eugene Laskoskie of Chappell Hill.
Virginia McAlexander Wolfe

BRENHAM — Services for Virginia McAlexander Wolfe, 78, of Brenham are set for 11 a.m. Friday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham.
The Rev. Larry Embry will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mrs. Wolfe died Tuesday in Brenham. Born in Houston, Mrs. Wolfe graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. She was retired from Wolfe Real Estate. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd V. Wolfe.
Survivors include a son, Wayne A. Wolfe of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Rick Bodish of Somerville; and a brother and sister-in-law, Cliff and Betty McAlexander of Brenham.
Annelle Smith

CALDWELL — Services for Annelle Smith, 77, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Joe Don Brymer will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith died Tuesday at Seaton Hospital in Austin. She was born in Pasadena and was a former production worker for Keller Chair Company. She was a Methodist. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William Lawrence and Sandra Smith of College Station; two brothers, David L. Brymer of Caldwell and Mayron Brymer of Bandera; three sisters, Jewel Robin of Port Neches and Johnnie Ruth Trnka and Lillian Moore, both of Caldwell; two granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
Mary Magdalene Faulds

LYONS — A private service is scheduled for Mary Magdalene Faulds, 81, of Lyons.
The Rev. Sid Aiken will officiate.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.
Mrs. Faulds died Tuesday. A lifelong resident of Lyons, Mrs. Faulds was a schoolteacher for 26 years in Lyons, Somerville and Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Faulds.
Survivors include her sister, Geraldine Murray of Lyons; a sister-in-law, Lina Murray of Lyons; and one niece.
Annie Teresa Busa

PLANTERSVILLE — Services for Annie Teresa Busa, 88, of Plantersville are set for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham.
The Rev. Ben Smaistrla of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Houston will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Stoneham.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota and from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham.
Mrs. Busa died Wednesday in Navasota.
She was born in Grimes County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Joseph Altar society and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe T. Busa.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, William and Joyce Busa of Caldwell, Adam and Lois Busa and James Busa, all of Plantersville, and John and Kathy Busa of Cleveland; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret and Lloyd Hill of Waller, Frances Loukanis of Houston and JoAnn and Willie Keyser of Plantersville; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Stephen J. Santry

Visitation for Stephen J. Santry, 43, of College Station will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Callaway Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Santry died Saturday in Navasota.
He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and lived in College Station for the past 30 years. He was a manager for Duddley’s Draw for 14 years.
Everyone is welcome to Duddley’s Draw following visitation Saturday evening. The family requests no flowers. Survivors include two sisters, Susan Wesley of Michigan and Stacey Peck of Washington; his father, Edward “Ted” Santry of College Station; three nephews; and a niece.
Janie Rae Barlow

NAVASOTA — Graveside services for Janie Rae Barlow, 90, of Navasota are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.
Bro. Larry Reina of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses will officiate.
Miss Barlow died February 20 in Navasota.
She was born in Laredo and was a retired telephone operator. Miss Barlow was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include a niece, nephews and a very special friend.
