Malcolm Gene Knowles
Oct. 15, 1929 - Feb. 10, 2003

Services for Malcolm Gene Knowles, 73, of Killeen are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Heritage Funeral home Chapel in Harker Heights.

Rev. Joe Rich will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Norwood Cemetery in Hearne. Rev. Larry Blackman will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Heritage Funeral Home.

Mr. Knowles died Monday at his residence.

He was born in Houston.

He served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1971. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one silver service star, the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Good Conduct Medal and other commendations. After his retirement he worked in civil service at Ft. Hood and retired in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Pearson.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Knowles of Killeen; six sons, Greg A. Knowles of Killeen, Chris Dee Knowles of Killeen, Dr. David Bailey of College Station, Tim J. Bailey of Houston, Greg Bailey of Mart and Hugh Bailey of Plano; three daughters, Lesa Dee Hollis of Kempner, Sandi Saito of Las Vegas and Dawn McKee of Eddy; two brothers, Walter Knowles of Houston and Donald Knowles of California; a sister, Geraldine Sicinski of Houston; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church of Killeen.

Levell Morgan Moreaux
Jan. 15, 1926 - Feb. 10, 2003

FRANKLIN — Services for Levell Morgan Moreaux, 77, of Franklin are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin. Rev. Joe Frazer of St. Francis Catholic Church in Franklin and Rev. Matt Smith of Faith Baptist Church in Bald Prairie will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bremond.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moreaux died Monday at her residence in Franklin.

Born in Hallsburg, she was a homemaker and resident of Franklin for most of her life. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shannon Moreaux.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Kathy Moreaux of Franklin; a daughter, Bessie Watson of Caldwell; two sisters, Hazel Wymola of Franklin and Ruby Mae Fulton of Tomball; a brother, Dewey Wade Morgan of Caldwell; two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 E. 29th St., Bryan, 77802.

Chau Chiu Tang
Oct. 9, 1912 - Feb. 9, 2003

HOUSTON — Services for Chau Chiu Tang, 91, of Houston and formerly of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Winford Funeral Home in Houston.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tang died Sunday in Houston.

She was born in China and lived in College Station from 1982 to 1997.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shu Tang.

Survivors include her five sons and daughters-in-law, Yi-Noo and Eugenia Tang of College Station, Edmond Tong of Boston, Mass., Albert and Esther Tong of Hong Kong, Yat Chien Tong of Hong Kong and Yat Ching Tong and Yen-Shiau Wong of Taiwan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Yat Mei and Yat Fei Chan and Yat-Li and Andy Liu, all of Houston; and nine grandchildren.

Pedro Adams
April 29, 1912 — Feb. 11, 2003

Services for Pedro Adams, 90, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Monsignor John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Adams died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Luling and lived in Bryan for 56 years. He was a retired farmer and was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Adams of Bryan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Josephine Adams and Gilbert and Mercedes Adams, all of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Paul Gomez of Bryan; a sister, Adela Martinez of Austin; 21 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 79 great-great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Farmer Edward Pearson
Feb. 6, 1946 — Feb. 10, 2003

MIDWAY — Services for Farmer Edward Pearson, 57, of Midway are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at at J.M. Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. Burial will be in the Allphin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Pearson died Monday at his home.

He was born in Midway and lived most of his life there. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a plumber employed by Tayor Plumbing in Madisonville and previously worked at Dawson Plumbing in Huntsville.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Pearson of Midway; his mother, Leoda Stevens of Fort Worth; a son and daughter-in-law, Duncan R. and Tawana Duncan of Carthage; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles Larry and Vicky Pearson of Burleson and Ricky Pearson and Jimmy Stevens of Fort Worth; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and David Upchurch of Godley, Bobbie Pearson of Cleburne, Robin and Rick Gragg of Roanoke and Peggy Scott of Fort Worth; two grandsons; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

LaVerne Ahrens Vash
March 8, 1922 — Feb. 11, 2003

BRENHAM — Services for LaVerne Ahrens Vash, 80, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Salem.

The Rev. Bill Derrick will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Vash died Tuesday at her home.

She was a lifelong resident of Brenham and was retired from selling sewing machines and distributing Shaklee products.

Mrs. Vash was preceded in death by her husband, John Vash Jr.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice Winkelmann and Lee Charles of Arlington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald and Phyllis Vash of Phoenix, Ariz., and John Ray Vash and fiancee, Linda Blasser, of Allen; a brother, Herman Ahrens Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Brenham; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Hilda and Ben Tegeler of Brenham, Mary Winkelmann of Lufkin, Alice Rust of Brenham, Helen and Herbert Nienstead of Brenham and Mildred and Steve Franklin of Hempstead; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be to the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1500 Salem Rd., Brenham, 77833, or Hospice Brazos Valley, 705 S. Austin St., Brenham, 77833.

Billie M. Trail
Aug. 3, 1919 — Jan. 29, 2003

Private services were held for Billie M. Trail, 83, of College Station.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Dr. Trail died Jan. 29 at her home.

Born in Smithville, she was raised on the Texas A&M campus and was a longtime resident of College Station. She retired from Texas A&M University.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and David Danzeiser of Hawaii and Anne and Bob Holmes of Georgia; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Planned Parenthood, 4112 E. 29th St., Bryan, 77802 or the charity of one’s choice.

Lurenzo Moton
May 15, 1930 — Feb. 7, 2003

HEARNE — Services for Lurenzo Moton, 72, of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Emanuel Baptist Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Jack Ward of Independent Baptist Church in Hearne will officiate. Burial will be in the Greater Riverside Cemetery in Hearne.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Moton died Friday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Robertson County and was a member of the Independent Baptist Church in Hearne.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Moton of Hearne; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tommie and Vinna Mae Atchison of Bryan and Darnell Moton of Hearne; two daughters, Helen Faye Moton of Hearne and Mae Jewell Moton Benson of Trenton, N.J.; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Florine Moton of Calvert; a god-brother, Potor Jefferson; five sisters, Doris Thompson of Houston, Daisy Hennigan of Bryan, Anna Thomas of Fort Worth, Dorothy Gerard of Hearne and Ada Bea Moton of Dallas; and 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Polly Van Dell
March 23, 1929 — Feb. 12, 2003

Services for Polly Van Dell, 73, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Jerry Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Restever Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dell died Wednesday at St. Joseph Skilled Unit.

Born in Jacksboro, she lived in Bryan since 1995 and was formerly of Ulysses, Kan. She was a homemaker and owned and operated the Circle C Western Wear and Shoe Repair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Van Dell. Survivors include three sons, Cary Van Dell of Amarillo, Gary Carson of Bowie and Mitch Carson of Bryan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Darrell Johnson of Cypress, Charlotte and Lt. Col. James Doty of Fredricksburg, Va., and Carolyn and David Lightsey of Benchley; 18 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
