John H. ‘Johnny’ Castleberry

Services for John H. “Johnny” Castleberry, 74, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
The Rev. Chris Osborne of Central Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Castleberry died Thursday at Bryton Inn.
He was born in Nacogdoches and lived in Bryan since 1979. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was owner and operator of JFP Well Service in Pearland.
Mr. Castleberry was past president and member of the Bryan Breakfast Lions Club, was a member of the National Rifle Association and was a charter member of the American Petroleum Institute. He was a lifetime member of the Llano Masonic Lodge No. 242 and was a 32nd degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Castleberry of Bryan; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, John F. III and Natalie Wilkes of Lafayette, La., and Michael E. and Molly Wilkes of San Antonio; a brother and sister-in-law, Cleo and Leora Castleberry of Clovis, N.M.; a sister and brother-in-law, Rena and Virgil Johnson of Artesia, N.M.; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, Brazos Valley Chapter API, Bryan Breakfast Lions Club or the Masonic Museum and Library in College Station.
Herbert Walter Emshoff
Oct. 21, 1919 — Feb. 6, 2003
BRENHAM — Services for Herbert Walter Emshoff, 83, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham.
The Revs. Lawrence Bade and Kim Little-Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mr. Emshoff died Thursday in Brenham.
He was born in New Wehdem in Austin County and was retired from Lacina Auto Service, Ollie Miller Chevrolet, Ward Automotive and Brenham National Bank. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving on the 1st Troop Carrier Command.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Henske Emshoff of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy Lynn and Gale Welch of Houston; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Dale and Julie Lynn Emshoff of Friendswood; five sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Isabell Emshoff and Erna Emshoff, both of Brenham, Ruby Emshoff of Houston, Gladys Tiemann, Frances and Allen Garling, all of Bellville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A.V. Carpenter
Nov. 27, 1925 — Feb. 6, 2003
BRENHAM — Services for A.V. Carpenter, 77, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
The Rev. Steve Ponder will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Carpenter died Thursday in Brenham.
He was born in Terrell and was a retired deputy constable for Precinct 1 in Harris County. He was a graduate of Forney High School and served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Carpenter of Brenham; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Mary Carpenter of Wills Point and Ned and Imogene Carpenter of Terrell.

Philip Trapani

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. — Services for Philip Trapani, 73, of Mount Pleasant are set for 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Rev. Robert Byrne will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Pleasant.
A vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Trapani died Thursday.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., and graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in accounting and business administration. He then went on to dental and law school. He worked for Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. as district manager of the Northern district for 25 years. After his retirement, he went on to own a Little Caesar’s Pizza franchise at various locations in Michigan and Texas. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Accounting Association and served on the zoning board for the city of Mount Pleasant.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Trapani of Mount Pleasant; his children, Philip J. and Sandi Trapani of College Station, Charles P. and Stacey Trapani of Midland, Mich., and Joseph S. and Janell Trapani of Mount Pleasant; an uncle and seven grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Services.
Mary Elizabeth Ellison
Aug. 21, 1914 — Feb. 8, 2003
FRANKLIN — Services for Mary Elizabeth Ellison, 88, of Franklin are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.
Lenton Speer of Marquez will officiate. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ellison died Saturday in Franklin.
She was born in Whiterock. Mrs. Ellison lived in Franklin since 1949 and previously lived in Kosse. She was retired after 40 years as a resale merchant and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Ellison.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Ken Frank of Giddings; a son, Charles Ellison of Franklin; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Frank A. Karonika
Oct. 26, 1919 — Feb. 7, 2003
NAVASOTA — Services for Frank A. Karonika, 83, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
The Rev. Louis Sikorski of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Karonika died Friday in Bryan.
He was born in Anderson and was a steelworker. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include a son, Donald Karonika Johnson of Sweetwater; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Kenneth Reed of Roscoe and Patricia Karonika of Abilene; and a grandson.

Luther C. Moore
April 23, 1918 — Feb. 7, 2003
ROCKDALE — Services for Luther C. Moore, 84, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Revs. Glenn Pipes of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Calvin Springer will officiate. Burial will be in the Salty Cemetery near Rockdale.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore died Friday in the Heart Hospital in Austin.
He was born in Hoover and was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the European Theater, and was a member of the Thorndale VFW. He worked as an electrician for 34 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 50 years. He graduated from West Texas State College in 1941.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lynn Wolfe.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Caffey Moore of Rockdale; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark L. and Rogena Moore and David J. and Danna Moore, all of Amarillo; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Judy Caffey of Deer Park; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dana Caffey of Bryan; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Adrian Bates of Happy and Bobby and Betty Caffey of Thorndale; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Moore of Portland, Ore., and Alta Raye and Buck Caffey of Rockdale; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
