Robert ‘Waco’ Wright

NORMANGEE — Services for Robert “Waco” Wright, 79, of Normangee are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Normangee.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Mr. Wright died Wednesday at his home.
He was born in Fairy and lived in Normangee since 1986. He was retired from the Exxon pipeline and was a member of Normangee United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Wright.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Wright of Normangee; two brothers, M.L. Wright of Waco and C.B. Wright of Onalaska; two sisters, Mattie Vana of Waco and Cora Allen of Onalaska; and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to the Brazos Valley Hospice and Normangee United Methodist Church.
John H. Ruiz Sr.
Nov. 24, 1919 — Feb. 5, 2003
TEMPLE — Services for John H. Ruiz Sr., 83, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Rockdale.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Rev. Robert Herald will officiate.
Mr. Ruiz died Wednesday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
He was born and raised in Milano and lived in Rockdale for the past 51 years. He was a machine operator for Santa Fe Railroad, where he retired after 38 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of member of the Rockdale VFW Post No. 6525.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Gonzales Ruiz.
Survivors include a son, Hector V. Ruiz Sr. of Mesquite; a daughter-in-law, Lydia Ruiz of Mesquite; and four grandchildren.
Gary Allen Penuel
Nov. 3, 1966 — Feb. 3, 2003
SUGAR LAND — Services for Gary Allen Penuel, 36, formerly of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Jeter Funeral Home in Friendswood.
Mr. Penuel died Monday as a result of a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Irving and worked for Conoco in Houston.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry (Qiuni He) Penuel of Sugar Land; his mother, Barbara Cravens of Alvin; his father, Victor B. Penuel of Alvin; a sister, Tracy Menn of Alvin; a brother and sister-in-law, Justin and Mikki Cravens of Alvin; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tonia He and Gary Zhang of Sugar Land; a grandmother, Selma Dotson of Bryan; and five nieces and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Conoco for a Texas A&M scholarship.
Edgar Rudolph Kleiber

HEARNE — Services for Edgar Rudolph Kleiber, 76, of Calvert are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel in Hearne.
The Rev. Eldon “Bubba” Alfred of Bethany Baptist near Hearne and Irvin O. Huckaby Jr. of Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Norwood Cemetery in Hearne.
Mr. Kleiber died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
He was born in Schulenberg and lived in Calvert for more than 50 years. He was an installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ricky and Charlette Kleiber of Gause and Alan Kleiber of Easterly; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bernie Huckaby of Hearne; a brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Dorothy Kleiber of Schulenberg; four sisters, Della Sims and Olivia Williams, both of Houston, and Helen Marek and Florine Ohnheiser, both of Schulenberg; and eight grandchildren.
Eleanor Brockman
Nov. 29, 1957 — Feb. 5, 2003
ROCKDALE — Services for Eleanor Brockman, 91, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale.
The Rev. Paul Kethley of St. John’s United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Brockman died Wednesday at Trinity Care Center in Brenham.
She was born in Van Zandt County and lived in Rockdale since 1957. She lived the last five years in Grand Saline and Brenham and formerly lived in Mart and Austin.
She was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also belonged to the New Salem Home Demonstration Club and was named “Homemaker of the Year.”
She served as a pink lady at Richards Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and the Texas Extension Homemakers Association and the Sewing Circle. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, at Scarbrough’s in Austin and at an insurance company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar M. Brockman; and two children.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Martha Brockman of Beeville and Carl and Mary Brockman of Austin; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Eddie Farias of Houston and New Ulm; a sister, Florence Thompson of Grand Saline; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Tommie Dell Edwards
Aug. 20, 1928 — Feb. 4, 2003
HEARNE — Services for Tommie Dell Edwards, 74, of Hearne are set for noon Saturday at the Progressive Baptist Church in Hearne.
The Rev. James Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Pin Oak Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.
Mr. Edwards died Tuesday.
Survivors include two sisters, Ida Bell Moore of Hearne and Lois Bell of Los Angeles; a brother, Charles Ray Henderson; caretakers Waymon and Joyce Richardson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Iris Marie Posey Gross

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Services for Iris Marie Posey Gross, 72, of Rusk are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Renfro Memorial Chapel of Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
The Rev. Jerry Neff will officiate. Burial will be in West Shady Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Gross died Wednesday in College Station.
She was born in New Hope and was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was a hairdresser and was a Methodist.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna V. Young of College Station; a sister, Bernice Posey of Rusk; and two grandchildren.
A.C. Hicks

Services for A.C. Hicks, 91, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. U.L. Green of Pilgrim Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.
Mr. Hicks died Feb. 1 at his home.
He was retired and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Hicks of Bryan; a son, Lawrence Hicks of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
Mary Louise Wallace

FRANKLIN — Services for Mary Louise Wallace, 82, of the Petteway community in Robertson County are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.
Dan Bates of Herds Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Petteway Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wallace died Thursday in College Station.
She was born in the Boone Prairie community and was a lifelong resident of the Petteway community. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Wallace.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Wayne Hines of Bremond; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wilferd and Jackie Wallace of Bremond and Frankie and Edna Wallace of Franklin; two sisters, Bennie Mae McCoslin of Buffalo and Mary Ann Thorpe of Franklin; a brother, J.W. Johnson of Caldwell; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
