Billie Ray Wells

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Billie Ray Wells, 71, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ivy Cemetery in Kennard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mr. Wells died Saturday at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
He was born in the Possum Walk community of Trinity County and lived in Rockdale a year and a half. He was formerly of Huntington, but lived most of his adult life in California. He worked for more than 20 years as a mechanic on tractors and equipment in vineyards in California.
Survivors include three brothers, Howard Wells of Stockton, Calif., A.D. Wells and Jack Wells, both of Fresno, Calif.; three sisters, Betty Yount of Rockdale, Lois Krause of Stockton, and Geneva Mell of Fresno; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Cody Wade Batten
May 18, 1971 — Feb. 28, 2003
Services for Cody Wade Batten, 31, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. Chris Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in the Wixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Mr. Batten died Friday in Milam County.
He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and owned and operated Batten Equine Appraisal. He was a member of the American Association of Equine Appraisers, the Cowboy Professional Rodeo Association, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was also a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Connor Wade Batten of Rockdale; his parents, George and Kay Batten of Bryan; a brother, Blake William Batten of Bryan; two sisters, Shana Kay Batten of Dallas and Bridget Lynn Batten of Bryan; his grandmother, Mary Louise Gooch of Bryan; Amber Cox of Bryan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mary T. Fazzino
July 21, 1923 — Feb. 28, 2003
Services for Mary T. Fazzino, 79, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan.
The Rev. Kirby Garner and Monsignors John Malinowski and John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
An Altar Society rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Sunday with an additional rosary service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fazzino died Friday in Bryan.
She was born in Lufkin and lived in Bryan most of her life. She belonged to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and chaired the baked goods committee for the annual spaghetti dinner. She operated Don’s Food Center for 16 years and was a businesswoman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Fazzino.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Lu and Steve Scarmardo of Bryan, Irene and Roy Hartman of Muenster, Diane and James Patranella of Austin and Cindy and Lonnie Arnold of Midland; a son and daughter-in-law, Don Jr. and Krista Fazzino of Bryan; three sisters, Sindy Interrante of Alba and Annie LaBarba and Josephine LaBarba, both of Dallas; a brother, Tony Todora Jr. of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Beatrice L. Hunt

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Beatrice L. Hunt, 80, of Rockdale are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Veale Creek Cemetery near Breckenridge.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Hunt died Saturday at Renaissance Villa in Rockdale.
She was born in Thurber and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hunt, and a son, Johnny Hunt.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Cleve and Charlene Hunt of Rockdale; three daughters and sons-in-law, Melba and Andy Owens of Rockdale, Brenda and Troy Riddles and Shirley and Larry Briley, all of Breckenridge; a brother, Roy Ingals of Mineral Wells; a sister, Lillie Gunther of Mineral Wells; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Joshua ‘Chance’ Lee
Jan. 27, 1987 — Feb. 28, 2003
CENTERVILLE — Services for Joshua “Chance” Lee, 16, of Buffalo and formerly of Centerville are set for 4 p.m. Monday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville.
His grandfather, the Rev. L.B. Humphrey, will officiate, assisted by the Revs. Barney Bryant, Walter Sanders and Bobby King. Private burial will be at a family cemetery in Leon County.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Chance died Friday in Buffalo.
He was born in Baytown and lived most of his life in Centerville. He was a sophomore at Buffalo High School, where he participated in drama. He previously participated in football and track. He was a member of the West Side Baptist Church in Crockett.
Survivors include his parents, Douglas Warren Lee Jr. of Buffalo and Mary Elizabeth Lee of Centerville; a twin brother, Jason “Chase” Lee of Buffalo; two sisters, Leah Renee Lee of Buffalo and Alesha Mishelle Lee of Waco; grandparents, the Rev. Burrell and Ollie Merle Humphrey of Centerville and Charles W. and Becky Carney of Normangee; great-grandfather, Alvin Creel of Ellisville, Miss.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund set up in Chance’s name at the Wells Fargo Bank.
Amy Esther White

ROCKDALE — Services for Amy Esther White, 91, of Rockdale are set for 3 p.m. Monday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Revs. Larry Holden and Jack Chelf will officiate. Burial will be in the Rockdale I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mrs. White died Saturday in Richards Memorial Hospital.
She was born in the Millerton Community and lived in Rockdale 40 years. She formerly lived in San Antonio and Rome, Ga. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockdale and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, W.H. Southard, Bill Wagner and J.E. White.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Pauline Southard and Harold and Carolyn Southard, all of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Southard and Ray Hobgood of Rome; a brother, Lee Luckey of Rockdale; a sister, Julia King of Rockdale; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Artis Lovelady Hopkins

ROCKDALE — Services for Artis Lovelady Hopkins, 73, of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church in Rockdale.
The Revs. Bennie Taylor and Winfred Tyler will officiate. Burial will be in Leo Cemetery near Lincoln.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Hopkins died Tuesday in Richards Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Lee County and was retired after 43 years as a teacher with the California Unified School District.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas P. and Felicia Hopkins of El Paso and Russell O. and Annette Hopkins of Escalon, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mavia Hopkins and Steven Dicochea of Fremont, Calif.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Willie and Mildred Lovelady and Brent Lovelady, all of Houston; a sister, Fannie Lee Spain of Rockdale; two sisters-in-law, Aileen Lovelady of Houston and Joyce Lovelady of San Antonio; a brother-in-law, King Appling of Lexington; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
