Mary Eleanor Watson

CALDWELL — Services for Mary Eleanor Watson, 90, of Caldwell are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mrs. Watson died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Burleson County and attended Mary Hardin Baylor University. She began teaching school at the age of 18 and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Watson.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jay Don and Diana Watson of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, DeAnn and Jodie Keilberg of Giddings; two brothers, Mervin “Bud” Cross of Caldwell and Pat Cross of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Mille Simpson of El Campo; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church School, 300 N. Thomas, Caldwell, Texas 77836.
Dora Hohlt Engelbrecht

BURTON — Services for Dora Hohlt Engelbrecht, 91, of Burton are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton.
The Rev. Glen Schoeneberg will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
Mrs. Engelbrecht died Thursday in La Grange.
She was born in the Long Point community of Washington County and was a retired homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Engelbrecht of Burton; a daughter and son-in-law, Dean and Gloria Niday of Austin; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Lois Engelbrecht of Houston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Lilly Betty Phelps

CALDWELL — Services for Lilly Betty Phelps, 85, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
The Rev. Henry Beseda will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lyons.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Phelps died Thursday at St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.
She was born in the Birch community and was a lifelong resident of Caldwell. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lyons and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Phelps.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Billy and Brenda Pettis and Thomas Phelps, all of Caldwell, and George and Sharon Phelps of Madisonville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Lillie Mae and Sam Clark and Margaret Rose Stringer, all of Houston, and Mary Nell of Quielan; a sister, Rosie Giessel of Birch; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lyons, Texas.
Myrtle G. Reeves
May 30, 1912 — March 5, 2003
CHRIESMAN — Services for Myrtle G. Reeves, 90, of Chriesman are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home.
The Rev. John Boyle of Wellborn Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Wheat Cemetery in Millican.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reeves died Wednesday at Burleson St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
Born in Bellville, she was a lifelong resident of Burleson and Brazos counties. Mrs. Reeves was a member of Wellborn Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Reeves.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Greathouse and Melva “Penny” Hill, both of Chriesman; a brother, Joe Boone of Guy; two sisters, Odessa Keys of Bay City and Lazettie Ondress of West Columbia; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Billie Lois ‘June’ Pace

Services for Billie Lois “June” Pace, 63, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. U.L. Green will officiate. Burial will be in the Sand Prairie Cemetery in Normangee.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary. A wake service will be conducted from 7 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Pace died Friday in Houston.
She was born in Madison County and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a homemaker and member of the United Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny and Rachel Adkins of Bryan, Kenneth Parhams and Carolyn Green of Bryan, Billy Frank Pace of Houston and Melvin Charles Pace and Christopher Demon Pace, both of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn and Alton Diggles of Houston and Lovie Diane and A.J. Green of Bryan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Nathaniel Adkins and Frank and Onie Mae Adkins, all of Bryan; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Liza Adkins Rhodes and Henrietta Wyatt, both of Bryan, Ella G. and John Lee Ross of Madisonville, Beatrice Thomas of Bryan and Onell Williams of Austin; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Iley Whiting Sr.

WASHINGTON — Services for Iley Whiting Sr., 89, of Washington are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Washington.
The Rev. Tommy Whiting will officiate. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.
Mr. Whiting died Feb., 27 at his home.
A lifelong resident of Washington, he was a contractor and a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Whiting. Survivors include five sons and four daughters-in-law, Searcy and Chris Whiting of Brenham, Iley Whiting Jr. of Nampo, Idaho, Frank Whiting Jr. and wife Kathy of Houston, the Rev. Tommy and Glendora Whiting of Washington and the Rev. James and Francis Whiting of Bryan; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys and John Wade of San Diego, Mary and William Seton of Las Vegas, Ophelia Howard of Washington and Abagail and Antoine Mathieu of Los Angeles; two sisters, Abagail Whitfield and Ophelia Bennett of Los Angeles; 29 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Herbert Wessel

Services for Herbert Wessel, 72, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home.
Bishop Don Albrecht of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate. Burial will be in the Rest-Ever Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Wessel died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and lived in Bryan for the past 21 years. He was a retired police officer for the Fairview Park Police Department in Ohio and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He coached Little League football for 20 years.
Mr. Wessel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wessel of Bryan; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Karl Wessel of Pflugerville, Brian Wessel of Bryan and Paul and Denise Wessel of Spring; a sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Don Baker of North Ridgeville, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren.
Anna Cecil ‘Bug’ Ellis
June 8, 1908 — March 5, 2003
HOUSTON — Services for Anna Cecil “Bug” Ellis, 94, of Houston and formerly of Jewett are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Jewett.
The Rev. James Engle of First Baptist Church of Jewett will officiate. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ellis died Wednesday at Garden Village in Houston.
Born in Grapeland, she lived in Jewett from 1930 to 1996 before moving to Houston. She was a secretary for the Civil Service. Mrs. Ellis was a member and past worthy matron of the Eastern Star Chapter 15 and belonged to the choir at First Baptist Church of Jewett.
She worked at Jewett school cafeteria and then Leon County Courthouse as a secretary for 15 years. She later worked at Mexia Parkview Hospital as an admitting clerk.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Bill Hailey and Rufus Ellis.
Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Nannette Chapman of Houston, Faye and John Lucus of Jewett and Anne Ramby of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Donna Ellis of Huntsville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Wilma Jean McCollum

FRANKLIN — Services for Wilma Jean McCollum, 90, of Franklin are set for 10 a.m., Saturday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.
Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery. Bobby Sullivan of the Franklin Church of Christ will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. McCollum died Thursday in Hearne.
She was born in Robertson County and was a cosmetologist. Mrs. McCollum was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Nick Johnson of Franklin; a son and daughter-in-law, Texas Dale and Christina Varner of Bryan; two sisters, Sybil Reichert of New Baden and Geneva MacGaffick of Halletsville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
