Louis Ruiz

Services for Louis Ruiz, 78, of Bryan are set for 7 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bryan City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ruiz died Thursday in Temple.
He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and graduated from Allen Military Academy. He worked for the Ponzio family as a carpenter and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a Christian.
Survivors include five daughters, Linda Almendarez and Veronica “Ronnie” Bernal, both of Dallas, and Rosie Ruiz, Liz Ruiz and Anna Guerrero, all of Bryan; four sons, Robert Louis Ruiz of Dallas, Thomas G. Ruiz of Seattle, Wash., Peter Anthony Ruiz of Deanville and Joe “Joey” Ruiz of Bryan; and four brothers, Daniel Ruiz, Amos Ruiz, Tony Ruiz and Johnny Ruiz, all of Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the Primera Iglesia Bautista Building Fund, 1009 N. Sims, Bryan, Texas 77803.
Chester Henry Michalak
Sept. 20, 1941 — March 12, 2003
Memorial services for Chester Henry Michalak, 61, of College Station are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ on William Joel Bryan in Bryan.
Mr. Michalak died Wednesday at his home.
He was born in Marlin and lived in College Station since 1960. He was a board member for the Pct. 4 Firehouse and was on the Brushy Water Board. He graduated in 1967 with a degree in finance from Texas A&M University and worked for the Texas Transportation Institute until his retirement in 1998. He was a volunteer election judge and was a member of the Brazos County A&M Club.
Survivors include his wife, Cyndie Michalak of College Station; a son, Greg Michalak of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Daniel Sherar of Austin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hank and Charlotte Michalak of Elkhart and J.W. and Barbara Michalak of Streetman; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jean and Bill Boyd and Virginia and Andreas Gherbaz, all of Houston, Mary and John Roberts of Carrobelle, Fla., and Christine Parsons of Marlin.
Memorials may be made to the Brazos Animal Shelter.
Ike Selvester Nowak
July 30, 1922 — March 13, 2003
BRENHAM — Services for Ike Selvester Nowak, 80, of Cypress are set for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill.
The Rev. Gene Shepard will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mr. Nowak died Thursday in Cypress.
He was born in Chappell Hill and was a retired machinist with Cameron Iron Works. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a staff sergeant and gunman in the 497th Bomber Squadron. He was a member of VFW Post 9183 and the International Association of Machinists.
Survivors include his wife, Angeline Kaminski Nowak of Cypress; three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Margaret Nowak of Houston, Harold and Diane Nowak and Mark and Jacqué Nowak, all of Austin; a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Russell Stein of Brenham; a brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Georgianna Nowak of Rosenberg; a sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Alex Joswiak of Richmond; and five grandchildren.
Clara Schroeder
May 11, 1909 — March 14, 2003
NAVASOTA — Services for Clara Schroeder, 93, of Anderson are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson.
The Rev. Dan Schoessow of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Ms. Schroeder died Friday in Navasota.
She was born in Anderson and was a homemaker.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson.
Mary Eleanor Watson
1913-2003
Mary Eleanor Watson, 90, died March 7, 2003 surrounded by her family at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Watson, an infant son, five brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jay Don and Diana Watson of Bryan; her daughter and son-in-law DeAnn and Jodie Keilberg of Giddings; two brothers, Mervin "Bud" Cross of Caldwell and Pat Cross of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Mille Simpson of El Campo; two grandsons and their wives, Jay Davis and Molly Watson, and Whitney and Brandy Keilberg; and two great-grandchildren, Kamyree Keilberg and John Davis Watson.
A lifelong resident of Burleson County, she attended Mary Hardin Baylor and began teaching school at age 18. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Caldwell.
Services will be held at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2003. Family visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home.

Robert ‘Bobby’ Lee Buster

EDINBURG — Services for Robert “Bobby” Lee Buster, 64, of Edinburg were held Feb. 18 at the Skinner-Silva Funeral Home in Edinburg.
Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Buster died Feb. 16 at his home.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and lived most of his life in Edinburg. He owned and operated Buster’s Mobil in Bryan from 1964 to 1971. He was the former owner of Curly’s Wrecker Service and Hotshot Oilfield Delivery Service.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Buster of Edinburg; a son, Todd Lee Buster of Edinburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Roxane and Roy Arteaga; and two grandchildren.
Halbert Tom Campbell
Oct. 11, 1926 — March 11, 2003
ROCKDALE — Services for Halbert Tom Campbell, 76, of Thorndale are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Rev. Larry Griffith of the First Baptist Church in Thorndale will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Retreat Cemetery near Thorndale.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Campbell died Tuesday at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
He was a lifelong resident of Thorndale and was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Caffey of Thorndale; two sisters-in-law, Doris Campbell and Marguarite Campbell, both of Thorndale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ola Betts Casey
June 11, 1902 — March 12, 2003
BRENHAM — Services for Ola Betts Casey, 100, of Brenham are set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Old Union Baptist Church in Old Union, Ark.
Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mrs. Casey died Wednesday in Brenham.
She was born in Union County, Ark., and was retired from Western Union. She was the oldest member of Old Union Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Casey.
Survivors include three children, Ola Jane Martin of New Brighton, Minn., Margaret Batchelor of Corsicana and John Casey of Houston; a nephew, Bill Betts of Brenham (please leave in if possible, he was her caretaker in Brenham); and eight grandchildren.
Cynthia Diane Cravey
Aug. 21, 1962 — March 11, 2003
JEWETT — Services for Cynthia Diane Cravey, 40, of Marquez are set for 4 p.m. Friday at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett.
The Rev. Ray Payne of Ephesus Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.
Ms. Cravey died Tuesday at her home.
She was born in Galveston and was a resident of Leon County for 24 years. She was a certified nurse’s aide and worked at the Buffalo Nursing Home four years.
Survivors include her mother, Joan Perry of Robbins; her children’s father, Bobby Cravey of Jewett; a son, Jake Howard Cravey of Jewett; two daughters and a son-in-law, Frances Elaine Cravey and Steven Chad McDaniel of Jewett and Jamie Elizabeth Cravey of Marquez; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Janie and James Wilson of Hitchcock, Anna Doherty and Betty and Rodney Cravey, all of Jewett, and Theresa Reyna of Robbins; and two grandchildren.
