MADISONVILLE — Services for Helen Goree, 86, of Midway are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Midway Church of Christ.
The Rev. Ralph Carter and Dr. Regan White will officiate. Burial will be in the Midway City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m., at the J.M. Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville.
Mrs. Goree died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
She was born in Midway and was a member of the Midway Church of Christ. She was an officer and caretaker of the Midway Cemetery Association for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, A.A. “Jack” Phillips and Frederick Hayes Goree Sr.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill A. and Louise Phillips of Woodway; a sister-in-law, Lucille Goree Randolph of Houston; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Langston and Radoe Goree of Houston; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Fred H. and Jewell Goree of Bellaire and Dennis and Charlene Goree of Crested Butte, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Bette June Goree of Bellaire and Dana Goree of Crested Butte; a nephew, two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Marie Williams

HEARNE — Graveside services for Marie Williams, 84, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elliott Cemetery.
Bro. Dale Wells will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.
Mrs. Williams died Thursday in the Calvert Nursing Home.
She was born in Honey, Okla.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Bishop; a son, Charles Williams; a brother, Henry Fleming; two sisters, Mary Joyce Arrigoni and Edna Biehle; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Adam Knott
Dec. 20, 1979 — March 20, 2003
ATHENS — Services for Adam Knott, 23, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Athens.
Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.
Mr. Knott died Thursday in College Station.
He was born in Henderson County and was in his second year at Texas A&M University. He was a 1998 graduate of Athens High School and also attended Trinity Valley Community College.
Survivors include his parents, Bobby J. and Virginia Knott of Athens; a brother and sister-in-law, Casey and Theresa Knott of San Antonio; 10 uncles, 13 aunts and numerous cousins.
Harry C. Garbs
May 9, 1919 —March 18, 2003
CALDWELL — Memorial services for Harry C. Garbs, 83, of Caldwell are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God Church in Caldwell.
The Rev. Don Laird of the First Assembly of God Church will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mr. Garbs died Tuesday in Bryan.
He was born in Crosby and was a retired machinist with Exxon. He graduated from Crosby High School and attended Robert E. Lee College in Baytown. He served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees in the Soloman Islands during World War II. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Wiederhold Garbs of Caldwell; and two sons, Ronnie Charles Garbs of Spring and Donald Ray Garbs of Caldwell.
Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Caldwell.
Robert Lee Mathis

CAMERON — Services for Robert Lee Mathis, 72, of Cameron are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
The Rev. David Trayler will officiate. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Mathis died Wednesday at his home.
He was born in Cameron and was a member of the Milam Plaza Church of Christ.
He was a beekeeper.
Survivors include his brother, Alfred Mathis of Cameron; three sisters, Evelyn Mueck, Agnes Bruedigan, both of Cameron, and Lessie B. Trayler of Lorena.
Albert A. Hajovsky
Sept. 3, 1918 — March 19, 2003
CAMERON — A funeral mass for Albert A. Hajovsky, 84, of Cameron is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.
The Rev. Dimmitrij Colankin will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hajovsky died Wednesday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
He was born in Weimar and had served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as an aviation gunner. He moved to Cameron in 1956 where he owned and operated a Western Auto Store until retirement in 1980. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #2338, VFW Post #2010, American Legion Post #0009 and St. Monica’s Catholic Church, all in Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Hajovsky.
Survivors include three brothers, George Hajovsky of La Grange, Benjamin Hajovsky of Brenham, and Bernard Hajovsky of Gonzales; two sisters, Henrietta Neiser of Houston, and Leona Kristek of Baytown; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church building fund in Caldwell or to St. Monica’s Catholic Church building fund in Cameron.

Mrs. Hann died Tuesday at St. Paul University Hospital in Dallas.
She was born in Navasota and was a housewife.

Dr. Beard died Wednesday in Navasota.
He was born in Fort Worth. He was a veterinarian and was a member of the VFW, Texas & American Veterinary Association and Texas & American Limousine Association. He served in an artillery unit in France and Germany during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Prescott Beard of Navasota; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Joel Bryan Beard of Round Rock, James Lee and Pamela Beard, Danny and Kathy Prescott, David Prescott, all of Navasota; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Kay Beard of Conroe, Diane Elaine and Jim Cassel of Irving; a brother, Charles and Pat Belk of San Saba; a sister, Pauline Friemel of Austin; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
James Melvin ‘Big Melvin’ Edwards

HEARNE — Services for James Melvin “Big Melvin” Edwards, 52, of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Revival Tabernacle Church in Hearne. Burial will be in the North-South Cemetery in Franklin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Chapel in Hearne.
Mr. Edwards died Tuesday.
He was a lifetime resident of Hearne.
Survivors include two sisters, Margie Williams and Ophelia Quinney of Bryan; a brother, Freddie Eugene Edwards of Katy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
