Services for Arelia Babers, 93, of Calvert are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Calvert.
The Rev. E.W. Carter will officiate. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.
Ms. Babers died March 21 at Sherwood Nursing Home. She was born in Robertson County.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Willie Lee and Mary Babers of Houston and James and Linda Babers of Calvert; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Alexander Wayne Allen
Jan. 11, 1948 — March 24, 2003
SAN ANTONIO — Graveside services for Alexander Wayne Allen, 55, of San Antonio are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryan City Cemetery.
The Rev. Bob Richers of First Untied Methodist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home.
Mr. Allen died Monday in San Antonio.
He was born in Bryan and lived in San Antonio for 25 years.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher Allen and Jerome DeLaRosa; a daughter, Amanda Allen; a sister, Laura Jean Loving; his mother, Marcy (Allen) Toalson; three grandchildren; and his former wife, Alice Allen.
Gertrude Springer Bilski
Jan. 2, 1929 — March 24, 2003
CHAPPELL HILL — Services for Gertrude Springer Bilski, 74, of Chappell Hill are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill.
The Rev. Eugene Shepard will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chappell Hill. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mrs. Bilski died Monday in Sealy.
She was born in Chappell Hill and was a homemaker. Mrs. Bilski was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill, where she belonged to the choir and Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband, Victor Bilski of Chappell Hill; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica and Chester Lucherk of Burton, Dorothy and Roy Matthews of Houston and Stephanie and Kenneth Middleton of Houston; her mother-in-law, Mary Bilski of Chappell Hill; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brosie Kimich of Waller, Rufus Cone of Chappell Hill, Florian and Ann Bilski of Brenham, Bibiann and Robert Konieczny of Sealy, Albina and Andrew Macejewski of Houston and Mary and Woodrow Wilson Pool of Beaumont.
Memorials may be made to the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill.
James Homer Richards

CALVERT — Services for James Homer “Hatchett” Richards, 73, of Calvert are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.
The Rev. Larry Blackmon of First Baptist Church in Hearne will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Calvert.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heartfield Funeral Home.
Mr. Richards died Tuesday in Robertson County as a result of an auto accident.
He was born in Belton and lived in Calvert for several years. He was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad and was a member of the VFW Post 10358 in Hearne. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Richards was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wiife, Bonnie Richards of Calvert; three sons and daughters-in-law, James K. and Sandra Richards and Clyde F. and Tracy Richards, all of Houston, and Vernon L. Chamblee Jr. and his wife Janice of Shepard; two daughters, Tricia Reid of Bryan and Debbie Tomasino of Spring; a sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Charles Simmons of Deer Park; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Julia Vavra

CALDWELL — Graveside services for Julia Vavra, 89, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Miss Vavra died Wednesday at Colton Inn Health Center in College Station.
She was a lifelong resident of Burleson County and was a Catholic.
Survivors include numerous nephews and nieces.
Alex Cruz Sr.
Feb. 21, 1907 — March 24, 2003
Services for Alex Cruz Sr., 96, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Manuel Grajales will officiate. Burial will be in the Rest-Ever Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hillier Funeral Home. A prayer service will be conducted from 6 to 7 p.m..
Mr. Cruz died Monday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in Neva Rosita, Canilla, Mexico and lived in Bryan for 66 years. He was a retired cook and baker at the Holiday Plaza. He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Cuevas Cruz.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe Cruz of Bryan and Alex Cruz Jr. and his wife Betty of Irving; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Micacla Cruz Lopez, Virginia and Augestin Vallejo, and Alice Salas-Rio and husband Paul of Bryan; a sister, Rita Franco of College Station; 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Coriene Frost McNeil
May 15, 1925 — March 24, 2003
FRANKLIN — Services for Coriene Frost McNeil, 77, of Franklin are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Griffith Funeral Home in Superior, Ariz. Burial will be in the Mt. Breeze Cemetery in Miami, Ariz.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hillier Funeral Home.
Mrs. McNeil died Monday in Franklin.
She was born in Snowflake, Ariz. and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. McNeil.
Survivors include her son, Jerel Brent McNeil of Houston; three daughters, Pat Miller of Franklin, Denise Peck of Tucson, Ariz., and Mary Ann Spiller of Franklin; two brothers, Larry E. Frost and Jay C. Frost, both of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Carmel Little of Mesa, Ariz., and Rose Huber of Tempe, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Verna Josephine Muzyka

Services for Verna Josephine Muzyka, 88, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Entombment will be in the St. Mary’s Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to service time Thursday at Bremond Funeral Home.
Mrs. Muzyka died Monday at Sherwood Nursing Home.
She was born in Beck Prairie and was a farmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Muzyka.
Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Slominski of Bryan and Louise and Joe Muzyka of Bremond; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Jack Seale Hart

Graveside services for Jack Seale Hart, 83, of College Station are set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jasper City Cemetery.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Mr. Hart died Monday at College Station Medical Center.
He was born in Jasper and lived in the Brazos Valley area since 1974. He was a banker at the First State Bank in Calvert for ten years and was a member of the Lions Club in Calvert. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Hart served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Hart of College Station; a daughter, Daphne Hart Adams of Mesquite; the mother of his child, Ella Lee Neal Hart of Calvert; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
