J.C. Morgan

ROCKDALE — Services for J.C. Morgan, 73, of Rockdale are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The Revs. Douglas Springer of the Rockdale Full Gospel Church and Jack Chelf of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan died Friday in Richards Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Franklin and lived in Rockdale 50 years. He was retired after 34 years as line coordinator for ALCOA. He served in the U.S. Navy and was former president of the Rockdale Little League and Babe Ruth League. He was a member and former president of the Rockdale Country Club and the Mens Golf Association and was tournament director for many years. He also managed ALCOA’s hunting and recreation program for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Morgan of Rockdale; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Patti Reed of Rockdale; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Billy and Charlie Morsko of Bryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Billy Dees and Debbie Morgan, all of Rockdale; a stepdaughter, Patsy Muston of Navasota; his mother, Velma Morgan of Rockdale; a brother, Donald Morgan of Magnolia; two sisters, Rebecca Beane of Greenville and Maxine Crabb of Huffman; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Douglas P. Anderson
Dec. 12, 1970 — March 27, 2003
Graveside services for Douglas P. Anderson, 32, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the College Station Cemetery with military honors.
The Rev. Bill Davis of the Bryan Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Hospice Chaplain Cherry Moore will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Anderson died Thursday at his home.
He was born in Bell Flower, Calif., and graduated from J.F.K. High School in Sacramento, Calif. He attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., and was a Lieutenant Third Class in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a marine biologist.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, David and Beth Anderson of Citrus Heights, Calif.; his mother and stepfather, Dotty Ann and Sonny Brown of Bryan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel James and Dara Anderson of Anderson, Calif., and Duane Eugene and Stefanie Anderson of Redding, Calif.; three stepbrothers and sisters-in-law, Michael James and Rene Brown, Russell and Stephanie Brown and Scott and Cody Brown, all of Bryan; his grandmother, Eloraine Hornbacher of Carlos; two uncles; two aunts; and a nephew.

Jennings ‘J.’ Howard Pewthers
Jan. 27, 1946 — March 26, 2003
THE WOODLANDS — Jennings “J.” Howard Pewthers, 57, of The Woodlands died Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Pewthers was born in Henderson and lived in Texas and California. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1964. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity at Sam Houston State University and graduated in 1968. He served in Vietnam as an Air Force pilot and was stationed at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif. After his military service, he was self-employed.
Survivors include his mother, Lue Phillips of Minden; a brother Dick Pewthers of Austin; and two nephews.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Margaret Edwina Collier Polanco
Jan. 14, 1923 — March 28, 2003
CALDWELL — Services for Margaret Edwina Collier Polanco, 80, of Caldwell are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Texas City.
A memorial service was held Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Burial will be in Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Emken-Linton Mortuaries in Texas City.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Emken-Linton Mortuaries.
Mrs. Polanco died Friday in Caldwell.
She was born in Colmesneil and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Garate Polanco.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Josie Polanco of Texas City; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Nathan Ausley of Caldwell; two sisters, Ruby Sexton of Jasper and Myrtle Reed of Madison, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Charles Ray Swinner
Oct. 16, 1933 — March 28, 2003
MADISONVILLE — Services for Charles Ray Swinner, 69, of Madisonville are set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Jimmy Swinner will officiate. Burial will be in High Prairie Cemetery in Madison County.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Swinner died Friday in Madison St. Joseph Health Center.
He was born in Madison County and lived in Madisonville five years. He formerly lived in Navasota for 40 years and was retired from Trinity Industries, where he worked 31 years as a steel fabricator.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Swinner.
Survivors include two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Swinner and Bobby Swinner, all of Madisonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul D. ‘Buddy’ Tucker
June 14, 1948 — March 26, 2003
Graveside services for Paul D. “Buddy” Tucker, 54, of Austin are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Rest-Ever Memorial Park in Bryan.
The Rev. Tim Skaggs, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church in Bryan, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Tucker died Wednesday in Austin.
He was born in Bryan and lived in Austin for 12 years. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan in 1966 and owned and operated Buddy’s Bar-b-que.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jon Paul and Allison Tucker of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Reisha and Bill Rust of Cypress and Amanda and Bill Barkley of Rockport; a brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Diana Tucker of Beaufort, S.C.; and five grandchildren.
Robery Clinton Toler
Dec. 26, 1960 – March 22, 2003
Robert Clinton Toler passed away March 22, 2003 due to injuries received in a vehicle accident in Sanger, Texas. He was born in Raleigh, NC on December 26, 1960. He was the son of Robert W. Toler and the late Barbara Martin Toler, formerly of College Station, Texas.
He attended Crocket Elementary, Lamar Junior High and graduated from Bryan High School, Bryan, Texas in May, 1978. He was active in Boy Scouts and was a member of the Bryan High School Band.
Robert attended Blinn College in Brenham, Texas; Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and graduated with an AA Degree in Electronics from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, Texas in May 1989. In 1999, he graduated with a BA degree in business administration from Northwood University in Cedar Hills, Texas. Abbott Laboratories in Dallas, Texas employed him for 14 years, most recently as a technical support field services representative. He maintained memberships in several professional organizations.
Robert married Tina Marie Wright in Houston on May 28, 1983. They have three children: Robert James Toler, Theresa Marie Toler, and Anthony Stephen Toler.
Robert enjoyed helping his children with their many activities in baseball, horseback riding, and home schooling. He also enjoyed organic gardening and sharing his hunting and fishing skills with family and friends. Robert was active in his church and devotedly attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Sanger, Texas. He had a special interest in overseas missions and supported Holt International Adoption Agency.
All who knew him as a loving husband and father, son and brother, uncle and friend will miss Robert.
Robert is survived by his wife of 20 years, Tina and his three children of Sanger, Texas; his father Robert W. Toler of San Antonio, Texas; his sisters Twyla Toler Benson of San Antonio, Texas; Tanya Toler Boedeker of Soldatna, Alaska; Robin Toler King of Kenna, West Virginia; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Lynn and James Wright; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jimmy and Yolanda Wright, all of Houston, Texas. He had 5 nephews and 7 nieces.
He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Lena Moore Martin of Monticello, Arkansas; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clint and Olevia Ruffin Toler Hillman of DeWitt, Arkansas.
Father Peter Katzaroff will conduct funeral services at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Sanger, Texas on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 10:00 am. A Rosary will be held on Friday, March 28, 2003 at 7:00 pm at the Coker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sanger Cemetery.

Audrey Jean Jones

BELLVILLE — Services for Audrey Jean Jones, 57, of Industry are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, 204 Kerr Street in Brenham.
Pastor Roy Green Jr. of the Mars Hill Deliverance Tabernacle of Fayetteville will officiate. The body will lie in state from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church in Brenham.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Mrs. Jones died Friday. She was born in Brenham.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Louis Jones of Industry; her mother, Jim Ella Wade of Columbus; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Candilyn J. McLean of Bryan, Maurissa C. and James Brown of Brenham, and Tonya C. and Robert Waddle of Columbus; a son, Marlon S. Johnson of Industry; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Billie Evans and William Blackshire of Brenham, Tina C. Wade of Brenham, and Theresa Wade and Jason Houston of Fort Worth; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Melvin H. and Pamela Evans and Gary Terrell, all of Brownwood; and four grandchildren.
Christine Slominski

GALVESTON — Services for Christine Slominski, 74, of Galveston are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.
The Rev. Celso Yu will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bremond.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to the time of services Saturday at Bremond Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Slominski died Tuesday in Galveston.
She was born in Bremond and was a homemaker and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antone Slominski.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Al Galinski of Brenham and Cynthia and Joe Cappadona of Galveston; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Grace Syzdek of Bremond and Cleo and Bernice Syzdek of Houston; a sister, Stella Snider of Bremond; and three grandchildren.
