Robert Earl Baker Sr.
Zavalla - Robert E. Baker Sr. 70, of Zavalla passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Dorman Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park.
He was native of Troop, Texas; born on Feb. 23, 1940 to parents Robert Lee Baker and Lorene Pruitt Baker. He had lived in the Gist Community until he moved to Zavalla in 2002. He retired from DuPont Sabine River Works after 43 years of employment as a welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and working with his hands. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Baker; uncle, Rip Crew; aunt, Agnes Crew; cousin, Walter Crew.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, LeAnn Campbell Baker of Zavalla; mother, Lorene Baker of Minneola, Texas; daughter, Donna Glende of Orange; son, Robert E. Baker Jr. and wife Lorie of Wiergate, Texas; sisters, Connie Broom and husband Gerald of Lindale, Texas, Bobbie Maywall and husband Phillip of Tullahoma, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jeff Glende and wife Alayce, Morgan Becker and husband Grant, Lorette Baker, Josie Baker; great-granddaughter, Mattison Glende; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth Marie Christian
Deweyville - Ruth M. Christian, 84, of Deweyville passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 19 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Deweyville Cemetery.
She was a native of Singer, La.; born on Feb. 19, 1926 to parents Jim McBride and Mabel Dillard McBride. She has lived most of her life in the Deweyville area. Her great joy in life was owning and operating “Ruth’s Café” for more than 45 years. She was of the Baptist faith attending Calvary Baptist in Deweyville.
She was well known for her big beautiful hats, which she loved to wear. She loved to go gambling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Christian; daughter, Phyllis “Che Che” Powell; sister, Ivalee Goddard; brother, James McBride.
To cherish her memory are her daughters, Darlene Wilson of Deweyville, Betty “Tootsie” Hryhorchuk of Deweyville; son, Ellis “Tiger” Shoemake and wife Lois of Deweyville; brothers, Melvin McBride of California, Rayburn McBride and wife Donna of Kansas, Kenneth McBride and wife Phyllis of Louisiana; grandchildren, Raven, Chance and Talon Shoemake, Ruth Hryhorchuk, Ramona Summers and husband Rick, Leonard “Bubba” Powell and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Marissa Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Organ, Shane Strickland, Leilani Strickland, Raven Shoemake, Chance Shoemake and Talon Shoemake. Honorary pallbearers are Shirley Brown and Ruth Hryhorchuk.
Cora C. Kielwein
Cora C. Kielwein, 82, of Orange, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010, at The Meadows in Orange. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2010, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Morehead City, North Carolina.
Born in Frankfort, Ohio on September 13, 1928, Cora was the daughter of George W. and Margaret (Sims) Yates. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #289 in Cherry Port, North Carolina for over 50 years. Cora was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW # 2041 in Beaufort, North Carolina, the Order of the White Shrine in New Bern, North Carolina and a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Morehead City, North Carolina.
Preceded in death by her husband, John W. Kielwein, Cora is survived by her daughter, Zehron Stroud and husband, Barry of Orange; son, John Kielwein, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Edenton, North Carolina; granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Ulrich and husband, Don, two great-grandchildren, Michael and Audrey Ulrich of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; nephew, Ronald Yates and wife, Carol of Newport, North Carolina; and other nieces and nephews in Ohio.

David Clark Lewis
David Clark Lewis, 67, of Orange, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Baptist Orange Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be David Burkheimer of Community Church in Orange. A private burial will follow later at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home in Orange.
Born in Junction, Texas on September 29, 1943, David was the son of Richard and Emilie (Gerhart) Lewis. He was an active member of Community Church and a member of The Gideons International. He was an Eagle Scout and a former outpost commander in the Royal Rangers, and also a Board Member of Orange Christian Services. David was a Ham Radio Operator, call sign K5UAH.
Preceded in death by his parents, David is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Miranda Lewis, and Brian and Rebecca Lewis; 3 grandchildren; sister, Kathy Lewis; and 2 nephews.

Ethel Lois Hardy
Ethel Lois Hardy, a resident of The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orange, Tex., died Sunday, Nov. 28, at Baptist Memorial Hermann Hospital in Orange. Mrs. Hardy was born Ethel Lois Mullins on July 11, to Napoleon B. Mullins and Tennie Anna Hill in Gainesville, Missouri.
Her family eventually moved both to West Plains and Springfield, Missouri, and to Tulsa, Okla. Lois graduated from West Plains High School and attended Southwest Missouri Teachers' College in Springfield. A career woman her entire life, Lois worked at the County Clerk's Office in West Plains, Mo.; for Skelley Oil in Tulsa, Okla.; at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Okla.; and in retail in Okla. City.
Reared Protestant, she converted, joining St. Michael Christian Antiochian Orthodox Church, Beaumont, Tex., in 2006. Lois moved to Midwest City, Okla., in 1949. She later met and married Herbert Morrison Hardy on Dec. 10, 1951. They were the parents of one daughter, Anne Marilyn Hardy.
Lois was active as a Room Mother, PTA parent, member of Okla. League of Women Voters, Okla. County Democratic Party, Midwest City Pilots' Club member, and as Leader of Campfire Girls. Lois lived in Midwest City for nearly 40 years before moving to live with her daughter and her family to Pasadena, Tex.; Pensacola, Fl.; and Orange, Tex. She was active in Orange's American Association of University Women and her Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Orange.
She was preceded in death in 1987 by her husband of 36 years, Herbert Hardy; her parents in 1976, N.B. and Tennie Mullins; her sister, Audra Mitchell Hearn; her brother, Doyle Mullins; brother-in-law, Hall Mitchell, all of Midwest City, Okla.; and aunts and uncles of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Springfield, Mo.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and David Payne of Orange, Tex.; grandsons, Thomas Hardy Payne of Dickinson, Tex., and Steven Timothy Payne of Boston, Mass.; brother-in-law, Cormack P. Hearn of Midwest City, Okla.; niece, Karen Pugh Mullins, and sister-in-law, Ethel Swearingen Mullins, both of Conyers, Ga.; family friend Kristi Lynn of Dickinson, Tex.; and numerous cousins.
Visitation and Prayers will be from 6-8 p.m. Tues., Nov. 30, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Tex. Funeral Services are set for 11 a.m. Wed., Dec. 1, at St. Michael Christian Orthodox Antiochian Church in Beaumont, Tex. Orthodox Graveside Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Fri., Dec. 3, at Resthaven Cemetery, 500 W. 104th St., Oklahoma City, Okla., with cooperation of the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, Okla.
James Robert Boynton
James Robert Boynton, 69, passed away in Dayton, TX on Saturday, November 27, 2010. James was born on Saturday, August 30, 1941 to the late James and Beatrice Boynton.
James is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Phyllis Boynton; children, James “Greg” Boynton and wife Jennifer of Seattle, WA; Kimberly Thain and husband Terry of Cleveland, TX; brother, Charles Boynton and wife Angie of Orange, TX; sister, Ann Hancock and husband Sammy of Okeechobee, FL, grandchildren Amber Thain and Dusty Thain; numerous other loving family and friends.
Visitation for James will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 5:00-9:00pm. Service will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 2:00pm.

Letha Inez Lindsey
Vidor - Letha I. Lindsey, 89, of Vidor died Wednesday, Nov. 24 at Vidor Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
Born on March 3, 1921, Letha was a native and a longtime resident of Beaumont, she lived in Vidor for just a short time. She was a homemaker and a good Christian. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor.
Letha was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Lindsey, son O.D. Lindsey and niece Loretta Stephens. She is survived by her nephews Ronnie Stephens of Vidor, and Mike Stephens of Silsbee; nieces Connie Stunkard of Vidor, and Donna Cooper of California.
Doris F. Williamson
Vidor - Doris F. Williamson, 76, of Vidor died Tuesday, Nov. 23 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints, with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
Born on Oct. 7, 1934 and a native of Beaumont, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Doris was a homemaker and was a LVN for Baptist Hospital in Beaumont for 16 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints in Vidor.
Doris is survived by her husband George "Coon" Williamson Sr.; sons George, Frank and Johnny Williamson all of Vidor; daughters Belinda Jenkins, Cindy Williamson, Amanda Jessop and Elizabeth Coward all of Vidor; brother James J. Harder Jr. of Vidor; 29 grandbabies; 30 great-grandbabies and dozens of Sunbeam friends.
Edward Charles Watson
Edward Charles Watson, 65, of Orange, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service will be Friday, December 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church with interment at Magnolia Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Hortense S. Lucas
Orange - Hortense S. Lucas, 102, of Orange, passed away Monday, Nov. 22 in Orange.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. one hour prior to the service on Saturday, Nov. 27 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Dr. Andy Pate of First Christian Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange.
Hortense "Dady" was born in Orange on Sept. 15, 1908. She was the daughter of Mathias and Justine (Huber) Strucel. Hortense worked for AT&T from 1929, beginning as an operator and eventually retired as a supervisor in 1964. She is especially remembered for her gentle nature and patience with her great-nieces and nephews. They will remember her ?tea parties? when they visited with her.
She and her late husband enjoyed many years of traveling and fishing. Hortense will be remembered for her lively interest in everything. Her life spanned the era of horse and buggy to the landing on the moon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Lucas; sisters, Lillian Strucel and Bessie Lester; brothers, Adolph and Herbert Strucel; nephew, David Lester, Jr.; and cousin, Cornelia Huggins Stevens.
Hortense is survived by her nieces, Jean Thompson of Austin, Justine Wuest of Idaho, Mary Ann Leedy of Hemphill, and Betty Patten of Orange; nephew, Tom Lester and wife, Sherry of Orange; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Lester, Kenneth Lester, Karl Leedy, Herb Leedy, Will Cowart and Chris LaChance.
The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice and Loving Care for the compassionate care they gave her.

Iris A. Kilcrease
The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Iris A. Kilcrease, 55, of Las Cruces, NM, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sparrow Funeral Home. The Rev. Herbert Winston, pastor of the White Rose Church of God in Christ of Port Arthur, will officiate the service.
Cremation is scheduled under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
She died Nov. 13 at the Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM.
A native of Vicksburg, MS, and former Orange resident, she resided in Las Cruces, NM two years.
She is survived by one son, Willie Kilcrease of Kansas City, KS; three daughters, LaTricia Ford of Orange, Penny Kilcrease of Beaumont, and Tamala Kilcrease of Houston; five sisters, Gloria Butler, Debbie Ford, Beatrice Locke, Sheila Haymond, and Jeralean Brown, all of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Willie Ford and Jesse Johnson, both of Denver, Colo.; and 15 grandchildren.

Leo 'Bud' Guidry, Jr., 88, of Orange, Texas died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Barry Bradley. Burial will follow at Parish Cemetery in Orange. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Born in Orange, Texas on January 8, 1922, Bud was the son of Edolia McBride and Leo Guidry, Sr. He served in the United States Army. He returned home from WWII after spending 3 years in the European Theater as a Private First Class in Cannon Company 271st Infantry. He retired from Orange County.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dan Edward Guidry, Nathan Paul Guidry, and Joseph Leo Guidry; brothers, Joseph Guidry and Sam Guidry; and his sister Catherine Wofford.
Bud is survived by his wife, Mary (Berwick) Guidry of Orange; son, John William Guidry, Sr.; daughter, Joyce Wheatley of Orange; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruth Kibodeaux, Gloria Anne Moseley, Theda Allison and her husband, Alton.

Mary Nell McDaniel
Vidor - Mary N. McDaniel, 75, of Vidor died Nov. 27 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 29 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial that followed at Del-Rose Cemetery in Vidor.
Born on Nov. 10, 1935, Mary was a longtime resident of Vidor and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Vidor. She was a retired Kitchen Supervisor for MHMR Day Break in Beaumont.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Tim Woodrow McDaniel, daughter Vina "Corky" Cade, grandsons Little Larry McDaniel, Robby Lee Bussell, Melvin Douglas Cade Jr, sisters Betty Conn and Dorothy Worrell, brothers Tommy Worrell and Henry Worrell.
She is survived by her sons Larry and Perry McDaniel both of Kerrville, Texas, daughters Reba Jean Parker, Nelda Norris, Betty Jane McDaniel, and Frances Herring all of Vidor; sister Jean Conn of Pineland, Texas; 20 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Mattie Alice Kramer
Vidor - Mattie A. Kramer, 85, of Beaumont died Tuesday, Nov. 23 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
Born on Dec. 25, 1924 and a native of Roganville, Texas, she was a longtime resident of Beaumont. Mattie was a homemaker.
Mattie is survived by her daughters Delores Shepple of Vidor, and Rose Mary Guzman of Fredericksburg, Texas; one brother Buster Maddox of Vidor; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Sam Paradice
Sam Paradice, 58, of Vidor died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Beaumont, Sam has been a resident of Vidor since 1965. Sam was the owner-operator of Paradice Realty in Vidor.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Memorial Funeral Home.
Sam is survived by his sister Belle Eanes, of TX; aunt Norine Gotcher of Mission, TX and uncle Edward Holder of Leggett, TX.
