Bridge City - A.J. “Al” Blanchette, 85, of Bridge City, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, in Bridge City. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be the Rev. Steve Leger. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m., Monday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Mr. Blanchette was born on March 25, 1924 in Orange. He was the son of Oliver and Edna (Boudreaux) Blanchette. He worked at Firestone for 21 years as a maintenance foreman. His favorite pass time was dancing to cajun music at Larry’s French Market.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Frances Lawrence Blanchette, who passed away in 1977; second wife of 20 years, Lorene Goetsell Blanchette; daughter, Sheril Blanchette Moore; and grandson, Jake Porterfield.
Mr. Blanchett is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and L.J. Doucet and Becky and Tracy Andrews, all of Bridge City; grandsons and wives, Lance and Deedra Doucet, Loren Doucet, Laine and Misti Doucet, Colby and Heather Doucet, Kyle and Rhiannon Suire, and Kent Suire; granddaughters, Penny Doucet, Carly Andrews, and Kember Andrews; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Thibodeaux; and brother, Ted Blanchette.
Serving as pallbearers are Brud Suire, Hal Porterfield, Lance Doucet, Loren Doucet, Laine Doucet, Colby Doucet, Kent Suire, and Kyle Suire.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Archie Del Chambers, Mr. Blanchette’s care taker of three years, as well as others who lovingly attended to his needs. Also, special thanks to nurses and staff of Southeast Texas Hospice.

Ernest H. Eikenhorst Jr.
Orange - Ernest H. Eikenhorst Jr., 83, of Orange, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas in Orange, after a lengthy illness. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.
Born on March 16, 1926 in Caldwell, to parents, Ernest H. Eikenhorst Sr. and Elsie (Looke) Eikenhorst, he lived in the Orange area for 67 years. Ernest worked for Allied Signal as a maintenance mechanic in Orange, retiring in 1983 with 28 years of service. Ernest was of the Lutheran faith and was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. Ernest was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and neighbor, who enjoyed spending time with his family and often helped those in need. His work and his mechanical ability gave him the gift to fix just about anything.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patsy Allred.
Those who will most cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Patricia “Pat” Eikenhorst of Orange; his son, Kenneth W. Eikenhorst and wife, Angie of Orange; his daughters, Cheryl Ann Kasal and husband Charles of Bedford, Texas and Christy Lynn Eikenhorst of Orange; sister, Judy A. Colbrook and husband, Norman of Orange; brothers, Ralph Eikenhorst and wife, Elrita of Orange and Gary Eikenhorst and wife, Cathy of Englewood, Colo.; two grandsons, Trevor A. Kasal and Aaron Eikenhorst. Ernest is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many neighbors.

Orange - Jacqueline “Jackie” Riley Bean, 77, of Orange died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 in Orange. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 22, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Jackie was born on Nov. 10, 1932 in Wylie. She was the daughter of Clarence and Mary M. (Woodard) Riley. She worked as a legal secretary for Stephenson Law Firm for 32 years and for U.S. Federal Judge Joe Fisher for over 15 years. Jackie was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 2775. She was a caregiver for her family and also took care of her husband for several years during his illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Len Bean; and daughter, Linda Bean Vermoch.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Bean of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Kelly Hernandez of Dickinson; grandchildren, Brain Vermoch, Patrick Hernandez, Bret Alan Bean, Michael Hernandez, and Elise Hernandez; and sister, Geraldine Brunett of Seattle, Wash.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Dyanne was born Feb. 16, 1965 in Beaumont. She moved from Vidor in 1999 to Camp Wood, Texas where she lived for 10 years, before moving to Burkeville in May 2009.
Dyanne was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Hobbs.
She was survived by her husband, Gary Landry of Burkeville; sons, Louis Landry Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Liberty Hill, Windell Landry and his wife, Christine Bishop of Burkeville; daughter, Miranda Landry of Georgetown; father and stepmother, Tom and Amy Lou Stillwell of Hemphill; brothers, Tommy Stillwell of Vidor and Bill Stillwell of Mesquite.
Karl Prien

He was born Nov. 11, 1960 in Beaumont, to William and Emma Prien. He was a lifelong resident of Vidor and was a valued employee with Ralph’s Industrial Electronic Supplies. Karl was an accomplished musician and played the guitar for his band Malayden for over 20 years.
Karl is survived by his wife, Carolyn Prien of Vidor; son, Jeremy Flowers of Tyler; daughter, Amber Prien of Vidor; brother Bill Prien of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; and grandson Cameron Flowers.

A native of Beaumont, he has lived in Vidor for 21 years, and was a retired mechanic with M and M Tire Company.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Minnie Finley.
He is survived by his sons, Damian Finley and Devon Finley; and his daughter, Deana Finley, all of Vidor; brothers, Cecil Clark of Vidor, Charles Finley of Kankakee, ll. and Hershel Finley of Beaumont; sisters, Darlene Odom of Vidor, Sara Meroney of Austin, Dorothy Gunn of Fresno, Calif., Dianne Finley of Amarillo, Mary Lynn Brown of Kissimee, Fla., and Sheila Finley of Beaumont, and six grandchildren.

Paul was born on Feb. 19, 1942 in Gueydan, La. He was the son of Advey and Stella (LeLeaux) Hebert. He was a sergeant in the Army and later worked as an independent truck driver. Paul was a member of the Masonic Lodge Madison 126.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Cora Hebert; son, Gary Hebert; brother, Floyd Hebert; and his parents.
He is survived by his son, William R. Stachnik of Seney, Mich.; daughters, Pamela Hebert and Robin Burch, both of Orange; seven grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Hebert; and sister, Janice Guidroz.
