Wayne Ray James passed away October 30, 2004 in his home at the age of 62. Wayne resided in Highlands, Texas all his life and worked at Valero Construction Company.
He is survived by his wife; Teresa James, daughter; Theresa James, son; Joshua James, grandchildren; Brandon and Shane Tarver, great grandchildren; Wendi Bailey and Hallie Tarver, his parents; Raymond and Mary Helen James, and his brother; Harvey James. He is preceded in death by his son; Dewayne James.
A celebration of life service will take place on Tuesday November 2, 2004 at San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home at 2 PM with Brother Karl Tewold officiating. Interment to follow at San Jacinto Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home, 713.453.7114.

Benjerman Jefferson Stanley
Benjerman Jefferson Stanley, 96, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, in a local hospital.
Mr. Stanley was descended from two Texas pioneer families. Nathaniel Lynch came to Texas in 1822 with Stephen F. Austin’s old 300 colonists. He owned and operated Lynch’s Ferry, which played a key role in the Texas Revolution. Stephen Jefferson Stanley I was with Lorenzo DeZavala in 1826, and in 1836 he moved to what is now Angelina County. Ben Stanley was a building contractor and worked on the Nasa Space Center in Clear Lake. He was of the Baptist faith, having made his profession of faith in Lime Stone County in 1930. He was known as a kind-hearted person who would have given the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.
Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Irene Stanley, two daughters, one son three sisters and three brothers.
Surviving relatives are his three sons, Bobby G. Stanley and wife Tonita of Highlands, Jimmy R. Stanley of Teneha, Texas and Jerry D. Stanley of Baytown; one sister, Flossie Stanley Keels and husband, Ralph Keels of Livingston; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown.
A Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, in Baytown with Reverend David Brumblowe officiating. Pallbearers will be H.D. Reddin, Stan Holzaepfel, J.E. Avant, Marvin Robinson, Tommy Standard and Ricky Caruso.
Homegoing arrangements are under the direction of Earthman Funeral Directors, 3919 Garth Road, in Baytown.
Edmund Burke Chase
Edmund Burke Chase, a lifelong resident of Baytown, was ushered into the presence of Jesus Thursday evening, Oct. 28, at a Houston hospital. He was born June 15, 1943, in Baytown. He was a retired supervisor at DuPont, a member of Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God Church and had recently moved to College Station. He was a devoted Christian who in the hearts of his family was the perfect husband and Dad. Many friends were blessed by his wisdom and generosity. He was loved by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Arvilla Chase and brother, Bobby Chase. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Chase of College Station; sons, Edmund Chase II and wife Tina of College Station and Wallace Chase and wife Effie of Houston, mother-in-law, Geneva Burns of Baytown; sister, Ella Brunt and husband Ted of Texas City; grandson, Collin Patrick Chase; niece and nephew, Brittany and Cody Brunt of Texas City, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. at Trinity Tabernacle with Rev. Larry Hayes and Rev. Frank Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the Trinity Tabernacle Missions Fund.

Texora Pierce Frazier Satterwhite
Texora Pierce Frazier Satterwhite passed away at the age of 94 on Oct. 29, 2004.
She was born March 8, 1910 in Blooming Grove, Texas and was the only child of J.W. and Martha Pierce.
She attended high school in Breckenridge, Texas and graduated from Texas Christian University in 1931 with a BBA. She remained a loyal and steadfast supporter of TCU throughout her life, speaking often of her “most special four years” there. Texora taught business classes at the high school in Moran, Texas before moving to Baytown in 1933. She resided in Baytown until 1997 when she moved to the Treemont Retirement Center in Houston.
In her early years in Baytown, Texora set up a bookkeeping system and worked for over seven years as the only bookkeeper for the school tax office. Over the years, she also taught at Lee High School and at Horace Mann Junior High School. She survived two husbands, Herbert S. Frazier and Troy L. “Doc” Satterwhite. She and Herbert Frazier had three daughters. After his death in 1950, she was wed in 1952 to Doc Satterwhite, who also had three children, forming a family of eight. Texora was active in Baytown’s First Christian Church, teaching Sunday school for 41 years, and holding many official church board and committee jobs and ladies’ CWF responsibilities. She was elected Elder Emeritus in 1991. She was active in the Book Review Club, served as Secretary of the United Fund, was a member of AAUW, helped organize Church Women United, helped organize the Child Care Center and volunteered in the Baytown Thrift Shop for over 25 years. Texora was active in the Women’s Club for 14 years and was the first secretary of the Ladies Association of the Goose Creek Country Club, later serving as president of that organization. Doc Satterwhite often acted as a recruiter of engineers for Humble Oil Refinery (now Exxon Mobil), and Texora enjoyed assisting in welcoming their wives, helping them to find housing, and helping in the social orientation of the single engineers. She participated in all of these activities while being mother to six children, who ranged in age from elementary school to college, and she was even asked by some groups to give advice and instructions on the raising of teenagers.
Texora Satterwhite is survived, with much love and affection, by her six children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Her children are son, Bill Satterwhite and wife Neita of Rockwall, Texas; daughter, Mary Virginia Cummins and husband Roy of Richmond, Texas; daughter, Martha Kay Roland and husband Bill of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Sue Harris and husband Richard of Sugarland, Texas; daughter, Maudeen Eccles and husband Joe of Houston, Texas; and daughter, Judy Oliver and husband Robert of Houston, Texas. The 13 grandchildren include Bill Satterwhite, Susan Swanson, Sharon Conner, Sam Satterwhite, Lauri Burroughs, Jennifer McDaniel, Meredith Harris, Davalyn Redford, Jimmy Markham, Troy Leslie, Amy Tucker, Scott Eccles and AI Oliver.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Navarre Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services starting at 1 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Dr. Earl Bissex officiating. Burial will be at San Jacinto Cemetery.

Norwood M. Stewart
Norwood M. Stewart, 64, died Saturday, Oct. 30, in Lake Charles, La.
He was born in Alexandria and was a longtime resident of Westlake and Baytown, Texas. Besides an active life of working, he enjoyed working with his horses, cattle, and dogs. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired as a boilermaker welder.
Survivors include one son, Paul W. Stewart and wife Vanessa of DeQuincy; three daughters, Vickie Huffman and husband Lamar of Westlake, Sherry LaBarbera and husband Louis of Dallas and Holly Stewart of Crosby, Texas; one brother, Ralph Stewart of Lake Charles; two sisters, Judy Kelley of Westlake and Betty Gail Turner of Sulphur; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Edna Stewart.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, in Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com.
Gertrude Kelly Hill
Gertrude Kelly Hill, 99, died Friday, Oct. 29, in Houston, Texas. Born to the late Michael Kelly and Annie Aulthaus Kelly, Mrs. Hill graduated from Central High School in Houston, Texas in 1922 and from Rice University in 1928. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Hill, one sister and six brothers. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Mutchler and husband Harold of Port Lavaca, Texas, Jim Hill and wife Shirley of San Antonio, Texas; Joe Hill and wife Starlene of Abilene, Texas, Charlie Hill and wife Sue of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Earthman Funeral Home. Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at St. Mark’s Methodist Church, 3811 N. James Paul Lansford
James Paul Lansford passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004 in a Baytown hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 4, 1940, to Ray and Claudia Lansford in Highlands, Texas. He was a resident of Highlands and retired with Exxon as a Supervisor after 29 years of service. He was an active member of Gospel Lighthouse Church where he taught an adult Sunday School class for many years. He enjoyed cooking and bible study.
Mr. Lansford is preceded in death by his parents, son, Jamie Dean Lansford, and a brother, Charles Ray Lansford. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gladys Lansford of Highlands, sons, Gary “Bubba” Lansford and wife Linda of Kenefick, Randall Lansford and Anne Brown of Pasadena, daughters, Kelly Shaw and husband Charlie of Highlands, Penne Davis of Highlands, sister, Janice Swick and husband Charles of Baytown, brother, Rev. Carroll Lansford and wife Gayle of Highlands, special relatives, Judy McKnight and husband Charles of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, grandchildren, James Shaw, Andrew Shaw, Taylor Lansford, Haley Lansford, and Mariah Davis, many special nieces, nephews, and loving family members.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 6, 2004, from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 7, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Chapel with Rev. Carroll Lansford officiating.
Assisting with the service will be Charles Swick and Rev. Charles McKnight.
Special music will be provided by Tammy and Denny Wells.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Lansford, Doug Lansford, Steve Jeter, Aaron Jeter, Mike Jeter, and Charles Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be James Shaw and Andrew Shaw.

Connie F. Cope
Connie Favaron Cope passed away peacefully at her home in Baytown, early Friday morning, Feb. 4, 2005.
She was born in Baton Rouge, La. in 1949 and spent most of her life in that area. She will be remembered for her strength and tenacity while confronting the physical and emotional challenges of a four year struggle with cancer.
Preceded in death by her father, Alcee J. Favaron, she is survived by her husband, Gerald; mother, Bessie Favaron; daughter, Tonja Martin Smith; and other family members and many friends.
Graveside services will be held in Denham Springs, La. on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.
