Anthony L. Johns
Anthony L. Johns, age 40, a longtime resident of Boerne, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003. Born in San Antonio, he was the son of Robin and Violet Johns and a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Anthony is survived by aunts and uncles, Frances Robinson, John Carroll and Dot Johns, John C. and June Geiselbreth, and Bill Wright; and numerous cousins.
Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home. The Funeral Service was held Monday, Dec. 8, at First Baptist Church of Boerne, with Pastor Bubba Stahl officiating. Burial followed at Mission Park North Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Missionary or Building Fund.

Mary Frances Carnes Nelson
July 13, 1917 - December 3, 2003
Mary Frances Carnes Nelson, age 86, passed away Dec. 3, 2003 in San Antonio. She was born on July 13, 1917 near Sullivan, Ill. to parents Walter and Hallie Decker Carnes. Mary Frances was the eldest of nine children; Mary Frances, Edna, Hazel, Aubrey, Louise, Donald, John, Paul and Richard.
She had training as a legal secretary and worked for Texaco in Illinois and Tulsa, Okla. She married William R. Nelson on Jan. 21, 1950 in Tulsa.
She was the beloved mother of two daughters Nancy (Muil) and Brenda (Jordan); grandmother of two granddaughters, Erin Muil and Leigh Muil; two grandsons, Benjamin Jordan and Bradley Jordan. She resided in Tulsa, OK; Houston; London, England; Brussels, Belgium; Bethel, Connecticut; and Boerne.
In Boerne, she was active in St. Mark Presbyterian Church, the Boerne Garden Club, Boerne Grange, and American Cancer Society. She was also a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary, the author of two cookbooks and an accomplished seamstress.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Muil and her husband, Robb, Brenda Jordan and her husband, Bruce; her four grandchildren Erin and Leigh Muil and Benjamin and Bradley Jordan; her siblings Edna Seitz, Hazel Jenne, Donald Carnes, John Carnes, Paul Carnes and Richard Carnes.
A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 8, at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Boerne with the Rev. John Watson officiating.

Dortha May Cooper
Dortha May Cooper was chosen by God to join his many angels in heaven on Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at the age of 80 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold V. Cooper.
Dortha owned and operated the "Little Lantern" at Comal Park, Canyon Lake, Texas for several years back in the 1970's and 80's. She moved to the Kendall County area in 1997 and enjoyed her weekly volunteer day at the Hill Country Family Services Thrift Shop. She was also employed at PoPo Family Restaurant.
She is survived by her only son, Jerry Tilley, and wife, Jenrose, and grandson, David, all of Waring, Texas.
She will be remembered by her many friends here, especially by her devoted friend Pat Berck and husband, Al.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Ebensberger Funeral Home in Boerne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hill Country Family Services, 118 W. Advogt, Boerne, TX 78006. Funeral arrangements with Ebensberger Funeral Home in Boerne.
Timothy Emerson Jackson
March 28, 1947 - December 20, 2003
Timothy Emerson Jackson, age 56, of Comfort, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003. Born in Plattsburg, N.Y. on March 28, 1947, he was the son of Ray Robert and Joan Elizabeth Reid Jackson.
A resident of Comfort for 33 years, he was a member of the Saint Boniface Episcopal Church, and an avid fan of local high school sports. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Viet Nam as a member of the 1st brigade of the 101st Airborne Division and was awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his services. He also was a member of the Texas Paralyzed Veterans of America. In 2002, he had retired from the Postal Service after 18 years of service.
Preceded in death by his brother, Michael Robert Jackson, Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Nancy Rea Jackson; father and step-mother, Ray and Ruth Jackson; mother, Joan Jackson; daughter, Kelley Jean Jackson; sons, Casey Emerson Jackson and Jordan Reid Jackson; sister, Susan Reyna and her husband Joe and their two children; sister-in-law, Christina Jackson.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at 3 p.m. at St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Comfort, The Reverend Phillip Stevenson, officiating. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, Dec. 26, at 11:30 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Rupert Vernon Mitchell
November 3, 1949 - December 19, 2003
Rupert Vernon Mitchell, age 54, of Boerne, passed away on Friday, Dec. 19, 2003. Born in Refugio, Texas, on Nov. 3, 1949, he was the son of George C. and Baudelia Elizalde Mitchell.
A life long resident of Boerne, he was member of the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. His profession had been an auto mechanic, working for various dealerships in the area.
Preceded in death by his father, George C. Mitchell, Vernon is survived by his wife, Gloria Mitchell, daughter, Olivia Rudloff and her husband, James; sons, Reynol Mitchell and his wife, Christina and Levin Mitchell; four grandsons; brothers and sisters, Thomas Mitchell and his wife, Eva, Therese Trevino, James David Mitchell, and Gabriella Polito and her husband, Ralph.
The Recitation of the Rosary was held on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. at Vaughan's Funeral Home. The funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father Tony Cummins, celebrant. The Burial followed in the Boerne Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald Jonas, Jerry Valdez, Rick Jonas, Patrick Jonas, George Mitchell and Reuben Nieto.

LeRoy Katzer
LeRoy D. Katzer, age 68, of Boerne, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2002. He was born in Westhoff, TX, on Nov., 23, 1933, the son of Edward H. and Leona Baer Katzer. A Veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Korean War, he was a member of the Paul Vogt Lodge of the Order of the Sons of Hermann. He retired from Kelly Field with over 25 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Katzer is survived by Wife, Lenora Katzer; Sons, Danny Lee Katzer and his wife, Dianne and Mark Randall Katzer and his wife, Michelle; Daughter, Connie Lynn Katzer-Hill and her husband Albert ; Grandchildren, Lee Ann Nichelle Katzer, Derrick Allen Katzer, Cody Dewayne Katzer, Dustin Randall Katzer, Lacey Nichole Katzer and Zachary Guinn ; Brothers, Herman Katzer, Melvin Katzer, and Clarence Katzer. Lee Roy Spriggs, Jr., age 55, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2003. He was born on September 20, 1947, in Crockett, TX, the son of Lee R. Spriggs, Sr. and Opal Tullis Spriggs. A lifelong resident of Boerne, he was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving during Viet Nam. Preceded in death by his Grandparents, Lee and Leona Spriggs as well as his Mother, Opal Treadway, Mr. Spriggs is survived by his Wife, Patsy Curtis Spriggs; Father and Step Mother, Lee R. Phyllis A. Swing, age 84, a resident of Boerne since June, 2000, and formerly of Burnet, TX, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2002. She was born October 31, 1918 in Iowa, the daughter of Dave E. and Cuma Childs Probasco. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy in 2000, Mrs. Swing is survived by Son, Vernon Swing and his wife, Linda of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughters, Sharon Winkles and her husband, Lynn of San Antonio, Donna Reese and her husband, Carl of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Penny Tidwell and her husband, Mike of McAllen, TX; Eight Grandchildren; Three Step Grandchildren; Seven Great Grandchildren; Sister, Elizabeth Julian; Brothers, Joe Probasco and Ray Probasco. Alex Toth
Alex Toth, age 86, a resident of Boerne since 1955, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2002. He was born July 1, 1916, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Andrew G. and Helen Horvath Toth. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Sgt. Toth served during World War II. He married Lorraine Darnell on April 16, 1949, and she survives. He worked at Kelly Field and retired after 35 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Gunga, Mr. Toth, in addition to his wife, is survived by Daughters, Elizabeth Eckles and her husband, Steven, and Marilyn Toth; Sons, Thomas Toth, Lawrence Toth and his wife, Amy, and Bruce W. Toth; Six Grandchildren; One Great Granddaughter; Brothers, Fred Toth and his wife, Virginia, James Toth and his wife, Nada, Joe Toth, and Steve Toth and his wife, Laura. Inez Harkins
Inez Harkins, age 76, a 12 year resident of the Boerne area, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2002. Born December 15, 1926,in Carrollton, TX the daughter of John A. and Eura Fyke Toombs, she was formerly of Irving and San Antonio. She was active in the Central Church of Irving and the First United Methodist Church of Boerne. Her lifelong efforts advanced public education and opportunities for women's progress in business and the professions. She supported wildlife and conservation groups, including Cibolo Wilderness and the Texas Nature Conservancy and was a nurturer to all living things. Mrs. Harkins is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack R. Harkins; Son, Jack R. Harkins, Jr. and his wife, Kay, of San Diego, CA; Daughters, Gail Harkins and Toni Harkins; Grandchildren, Cadence Harkins and Bryan Harkins; Sisters, Johnetta Crane and Renita Carpenter. Visitation was held on Sunday, November 24, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Barbara Galloway-Edgar, Officiating. Kathryn E. Whitlock
Kathryn E. Whitlock, age 82, a resident of Boerne since 1998, and a former resident of Brenham, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2002. She was born in Litchfield, Illinois, on October 8, 1920, the daughter of Theodore T. and Thelma DeBarr Davis. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Whitlock in 1996, Mrs. Whitlock is survived by her Son, Robert C. Whitlock; Grandchildren, Kathryn E. Baker and her husband, Scott and Gary E. Whitlock and his wife, Camilla; Great Grandchildren, Skylar Baker, Ty Baker, Alissa Whitlock and Brandon Whitlock. Graveside Services and Burial were held on Saturday, December 14 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas, Rev. Mark Redd, Officiated.
Frank M. Van Eynde
Frank Maurice Van Eynde, born June 22, 1911, died on December 10, 2002 in Boerne, Texas. He was of Belgian descent and a native of Norway, Michigan. Much of his adult life was spent in Chicago and River Grove, Illinois. He worked for Prudential Insurance for thirty years and also served on the River Grove Police Force.
Frank and his wife, Nell, retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1973. They were active in many civic organizations, particularly The Fisherman’s Club and the Power Squadron which Frank served in many capacities including Commander.
Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie B. Van Eynde and son, Roger Alan Van Eynde. He is survived by Son, Donald F. Van Eynde and his wife, Dixie , his son Douglas and wife, Nan; his daughter, Lynn E. Snider and her husband, Jerry; brother Arthur and wife Vi; grandchildren, Deborah Van Eynde, David Van Eynde and wife, Tammy, Robert Denkewalter, Jorie Denkewalter, Kimberly Rodriguez and her husband, Michael, and Noelle, Emily, Austin and Holly Van Eynde; great grandchildren Angela, Andrew, Brittany, Courtney, T.J. and Jake; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services and Burial will be at the Norway Township Cemetery in Norway, Michigan, on Friday, December 13, at Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a tree be planted in memory of Dad.

Victoria G. Rodriguez, age 73, of Boerne, passed away on Sunday, December 01, 2002. She was born January 12, 1929, in Stonewall, TX , the daughter of Maximo and Bernave Hernandez Gonzalez. A member of the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, she had been a resident of Boerne for over 50 years. Pamela Nicol Focke
Pamela Nicol Focke, age 33, a longtime resident of Boerne, died as the result of an automobile accident on Monday, June 16, 2003. Born on March 29, 1970, at Myrtle Beach AFB, South Carolina, the daughter of Dr. John Focke and Kitti McCarty Focke. She had attended Boerne schools for 12 years, graduating from Boerne High School in 1988, where she was Freshman and Sophomore Cheerleader. Pam graduated from Texas Tech in 1992 with a BS in Sociology and from Sam Houston State University in 1994 with a MA in Sociology. She was a professor of Sociology at N.W. Vista College in San Antonio. Because of her love for animals, she had as her second profession a pet sitting service. Pamela is survived by her Daughter, Summer Rhianna Focke-Peters; Father and Step Mother, Dr. John and Dale Focke; Mother, Kitti Ferrick of Dripping Springs, TX; Grandmother, Polly McCarty of Corpus Christi; Father of Summer, Rob Peters; Sister, Darcy Seiter; Niece Candace Seiter; and Nephew, Chance Seiter. Visitation was on Wednesday, June 18 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Private Graveside Services were held at the Boerne Cemetery, with Pastor Barbara Galloway-Edgar, Officiating.
