William James “Bill” Harrison
1921 – 2011
Graveside services for William (Bill) J. Harrison of Emory, were held May 4 in Lipan with David Baker officiating.
Mr. Harrison died May 1, 2011, in Greenville. He was born in Mineral Wells on December 28, 1921, to Byron C. Harrison and Freddie B. Harrison.
He married Kathleen Ray in 1942 in Mineral Wells. They resided most of their life in Cleburne.
Mr. Harrison served in the armed forces in the Signal Corps, S.H.A.E.F., overseas in England, France, Germany and Austria during WW II. He was a Ford parts manager for most of his married life, serving in that capacity in Cleburne for 15 years until his retirement in 1975.
He was a member of the Emory Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Wilson and husband Richard of Emory and Anita Sharp of Dallas; brother, Tom Harrison of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Anna Fetty and husband Don of Greenville and Ray Wilson and wife Cindy of Sulphur Springs; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Harrison; and one brother.
Frances Pauline Messer
1943 – 2011
Services were held on May 9 for Frances Pauline Messer, 68, at Miller-Moster & Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville, Indiana, with Pastor Richard Watt of the Bible Baptist Church officating.
Burial will be in Lick Creek Cemetery.
Ms. Messer died on May 4, 2011, at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Indiana. She was born to Pat and Sybil Foreman on February 2, 1943, in Emory.
For many years, she was employed as a cashier at Connersville IGA and Mace’s Supermarket. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Centerville, Indiana.
A devoted housewife, she enjoyed doing for others, spending time with her family and friends, and especially loved being with her grandchildren, working on upholstering, crafts and sewing projects. She never met a stranger.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Fred Messer Jr; two sisters, Lora Mae Springer of Atmore, Alabama and Daphine Hilton of Mesquite; children, John Messer of Wichita Falls, Sarah Stevens and Tom of Farmersburg, Ind., James Messer and fiancé Regina Martin, Matthew Messer and Jamie, Terry Messer and companion Donna Strunk, and Chad Messer and Celena all of Connersville; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Nail, Sybil Northcutt Nail and Pat Foreman; and brother, James Pat Foreman.
Linda Jean Graham
1947 - 2011
A graveside service for Linda Jean Graham, 63, of Emory, was held July 23 at Dunbar Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Jarrett officiating. Pallbearers were Rob Pate, Shane Graham, Mikey Lamb, Jacob Peña and Taylor Cunningham.
Mrs. Graham died July 21, 2011, at her residence. She was born October 21, 1947, in Deport to R. D. and Jeanette Parks Cotton. She was employed as a data entry clerk for a medical billing company, prior to her illness.
Survivors include two sons, Rob Pate and wife Laura and Shane Graham and wife Michelle, all of Emory; two daughters, Kathy Lamb and husband Mikey of Hooks, Suzi Graham and Taylor Cunningham of Emory; mother, Jeanette Cotton of Commerce; brother, David Cotton of Commerce; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; and one brother, Dickie Cotton.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home of Emory.
Genelle Potts Hale
1928 – 2011
Funeral services for Genelle Potts Hale, 82, of Bedford, formerly of Emory, were held July 21 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Smith officiating.
Burial followed in Dougherty cemetery.
Mrs. Hale died July 18, 2011, at Universal Hospice in Fort Worth. She was born August 29, 1928, in Emory the daughter of James Nealon and Mattie Lee Dougherty Potts. She married Billy E. Hale April 3, 1953, in Fort Worth.
She was a homemaker, a dedicated wife and mother. Mrs. Hale was of the Baptist faith and a 45-year member of T.E.E.A. in Bedford.
Survivors include son, James Jeffery Hale of Bedford; sister, Mary Sue Stoker and husband Bob of Lake Lewisville; niece, Pamela Kay Stoker of Camarillo, California; nephew, Steven Stoker of The Colony; numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband on February 10, 2008.

Patsy Herriage
1931 - 2011
A memorial service for Patsy Jean Herriage, 79, of Emory will be held at a later date. Mrs. Herriage died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born September 9, 1931, in Emory to John and Laura Martin Goodson. During her working career she was an office manager for a wholesale grocery company.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Harvey of Orlando, Florida; sisters, Audie Mae Shiflet of Emory and Irene Arrington of Garland; brother, Johnny Goodson of Dallas; grandchildren, Ben Simmons (Crystal), Ahren Simmons (Alicia), Amy Harvey Langdon, Meshell Harvey Steiner, Alisha Harvey, Austin Harvey; great-grandchildren, Paige, Hank, Matthew, Zachery, expected baby Sharon, Colten, Mason, Megan, Amber, Dominic, Ava, Dimitri; numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sharon Simmons; and one son, Ronnie Harvey.

Jack T. McCollum
1929 – 2011
A memorial service honoring Jack T. McCollum, 81, of Point, formerly of Carlsbad, New Mexico, will be held at a later date.
Mr. McCollum died at his residence July 17, 2011. He was born October 24, 1929, in Valley View to Luther Francis and Florence Flowers McCollum. He married Beverly Nelson November 22, 1951, in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Prior to retirement, Mr. McCollum worked in the potash mines. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife Beverly McCollum of Cedar Cove; daughters Margaret Ann McCollum and husband Gary Denlinger of Allen, Mary Louise Stanton and husband David of Pinckneyville, Illinois, Marlene Ellen Abernathy and husband Kenneth of Fairview; sister, Louella Ward of Denton; grandchildren, Shersty, Sydney, Morgan and Mason; niece and nephew, Jacki Ward and Wayne Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Frank William Zimmer Jr.
1932 – 2011
Funeral services for Frank William Zimmer Jr., 79, of Emory were held July 22 at Emory Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Bryant and Bro. Joe Perkins officiating.
Pallbearers were Dick Ebert, Charles Dickerson, Dempsey Bullock, Jerry Friday, Michael Gaby and Larry Gudger.
Mr. Zimmer died on July 19, 2011, at Country Trails Care Center in Grand Saline. He was born February 16, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, to Frank William and Mabel Ann Bashard Zimmer Sr. He married Glenda Levene Simmons January 2, 1953, in Garland.
Prior to retirement, he worked as an electrical engineer. He was a member of Emory Baptist Church. Mr. Zimmer proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Zimmer of Emory; daughter, Cindy Murray and husband Ken of Lindale; grandchildren, Amy Parker, Amanda Hollingshead, Joshua Boyd and Brittney Strickland; great-grandchildren, Cody and Caden Luckett, Carly and Cainan Hollingshead, Adi Murray and Bella Strickland; numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cathy Key in 2006.
Jewell Mae Cartwright
1933 - 2011
Funeral services for Jewel Mae Pritchett Cartwright, 88, of Sulphur Springs were conducted on Tuesday, August 16, at Freedom Church of God in Emory with Rev. David Hamm and Rev. Kenneth Ishmael officiating.
Interment followed at Yantis Cemetery with Rayborn Moreland, Jerry Pritchett, Danny Pritchett, Donald Pritchett, Doug Pritchett and Ronnie Pritchett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Moreland and Michael Pritchett.
Mrs. Cartwright died on Friday, August 12, 2011, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. She was born on June 22, 1933, in Hopkins County, the daughter of Albert Leotis and Mary Lula (McLaughlin) Pritchett.
Mrs. Cartwright was a homemaker and for 12 years worked in shipping with Sears and Roebuck.
She is survived by her sister, Mamie Moreland of Yantis; brothers, Dewit Pritchett and wife Billie of Texarkana, Billy Pritchett and wife Barbara of Edgewood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and four brothers, Cecil, Odie, Ardell and Lewis Wayne Pritchett.

Buena D. Jennings

Funeral services for Buena Jennings, 94, of the Bonanza community were held August 12 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory with Rev. Rusty Jennings and Ricky Dale Jennings officiating.
Burial was in Greenview Cemetery in Hopkins County. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Jennings died August 10, 2011, at the Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. She was born on April 19, 1917, in the Dougherty community, to Cecil and Mattie Freeman McLeroy. She married Claude Andrew Jennings September 1, 1937, in the Greenview community.
She was a seamstress in a garment factory and also sewed for the public. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in the Bonanza community.
Survivors include sons, Cecil Jennings and wife Opal of Caddo Mills, Andrew Jennings and wife Sherry of Rowlett, Bobby Jennings and wife Cindy of East Tawakoni and Phillip Jennings and wife Lulinda of Bonanza; sisters, Verna Barnett of Sulphur Springs and Loudene Johnson of Gun Barrel City; brother, Weaver B. McLeroy of Mansfield; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1983; daughter, Helen Greenhaw; sons, Truman Jennings in 1975, Aubrey Jennings, Earl Jennings, and Marshal Jennings; and grandson, Henry Earl Jennings.
