Mary Dougherty

Funeral services for Marie Teresa Rosalee Dougherty, 89, of Emory were held Thursday, June 12, at Miracle Faith Baptist Church in Emory with Rev. Dale Brand officiating.
Burial was at Dougherty Cemetery.
She died at her home on June 9, 2008.
Mrs. Dougherty was born in East Bernard on August 9, 1918, the daughter of Joe P. and Herminia Orsak Jaloway.
She married Vernon Vonceal (Bunch) Dougherty in Sealy in Sept. 1940. To this union five sons were born, all of whom survive.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and June Dougherty of Morgantown, Ky., Leon and Mary Jo Dougherty of Emory, Joe Ray and M.J. Dougherty of Emory, Phillip M. and Vicki Dougherty of Latta, S.C., Garry G. and Karen Dougherty of Conway, S. C.; brother, Johnnie Ray Jaloway and wife Lil of Sealy; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987.
Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home, Emory, was in charge of arrangements.
Frankie Lou Klein

Services for Frankie Lou McAree Klein, 78, of Alba were held Sunday, June 15, at First Baptist Church, Alba, with Bro. Tony Roling and Bro. Keith Cogburn officiating.
Burial was in Colony Cemetery, Alba, under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mrs. Klein passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008, in an Emory nursing home.
She was born September 23, 1929, in Rains County to the late Carl and Lillie Mae “Crick” Poston McAree. She lived in Dallas before moving back to Alba 35 years ago. Mrs. Klein worked as a telephone operator, and was a homemaker, rancher and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert “Bob” Klein of Alba; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, George H. Jones III; brother, W.C. “Butch” McAree; and sister, Glenna McAree Glaze.
Elbert Akin
1912 - 2008
Services for Elbert Akin, 96, of Point were held Saturday, June 21, at Clark’s Chapel Church of God with Rev. Earl Akin officiating.
Burial was in Smyrna Cemetery, Rains County, under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home.
Mr. Akin died June 18, 2008. He was born June 16, 1912, in Kentucky to Dick and Minnie Whitfiell Akin. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Cleo Gadberry in 1932 and lived in several areas of Texas before moving to Brownfield in 1951, where he worked as a self-employed welder. He moved to Point in 1994, where he pastored Clarks Chapel Church of God. Mr. Akin also pastored the Church of God in Winnsboro for two years.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Patsy Akin, Point, and Elbert Otis and Joanne Akin, Grand Prairie; daughters and son-in-law, Mearl Drake, Point, Jewel Reaves, Vidalia, Ga., and Wanda and Carroll Scarbrough, Louisville, Ark.; brother and sister-in-law, J.D. and Daisey Akin, Athens; sister, Helen Splawn, Athens; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 65 years, Cleo Akin, in 1997.

Billy Joe Byram

A memorial service for Billy Joe Byram of Terrell was held at Symrna Cemetery on June 21,with Jimmy Jarrett officiating.
Mr. Byram died June 7, 2008, in Kaufman.
He was born June 28, 1928, in Emory. A lifetime resident of Terrell, he worked in the concrete business.
He is survived by a son, Joe Carl Byram of Elmo; sisters, Jean Mitchell of Alba, and Vestell Mauldin of Mesquite; mother of his son, Dell Dry of Elmo; and several step-children and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Byram was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Myrtis Byram; wife, Leona Byram; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Whittle; brother-in-law, Jimmy Mauldin; and nephew, Pug Mitchell.
Margie Hutchins
1927 - 2008
A graveside service for Margie Hutchins of Greenville, formerly of Lone Oak, was held at Hall Cemetery with Rev. Mark Slaughter officiating.
Pallbearers were Charles Hunt, Tom Jenkins, Burt Andrew and Jim Voss.
Mrs. Hutchins died June 26, 2008, in a Greenville nursing home following a short illness.
She was born July 16, 1927, to James Hubert “Sky” and Lula Pearl (Rick) Mackey Wheeless.
She married Henry Hutchins and lived in Arlington for many years. A longtime employee of Texas Instruments, she later moved to Greenville and retired to be an avid gardener who loved working with flowers.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Hutchins and wife, and Terry Hutchins of Arlington; two granddaughters, Amy Hutchins Head and Jerah Hutchins; one grandson, Clint Hutchins; and nieces Kathy Voss of Greenville and Vicki Andrew of Union Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Opal Faye Pipkin.
The family conveys honorable mention and gratitude to Tom and Shirley Jenkins of Greenville for their devoted Christian kindness during her final days.
Julie Pate

Services for Julie Imogene Childers Pate, 70, of Lone Oak were held Wednesday, June 25, at the Donelton Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Slaughter officiating.
Burial was in Donelton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Troy Carus and Joe Cunningham, Lance and Jerry Lester and Chris Madera.
Mrs. Pate died June 21, 2008, in a Greenville hospital.
She was born in Fort Worth on Oct. 23, 1937, to William and Alva Cole Bridges.
In February 2000 she married William Pate in Lone Oak.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Bobby and wife Margaret Childers of Lone Oak; granddaughter, Reneé and Troie Lane of Lone Oak; great-grandchildren, Danielle and Troie Ray Lane of Lone Oak; two sisters, Joyce Cunningham of Roanoke and Mary Mallett of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Estie Childers; a son, Chester Childers; and two sisters, Juanita Madera and Blanch Booher.
Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak, was in charge of arrangements.
Edward George Sitar

Services for Edward George Sitar, 73, of Golden were held Saturday, June 28, 2008, at St. Peters Catholic Church, Mineola, with Father Naño officiating.
Mr. Sitar passed away Friday, June 27, 2008, at his residence.
He was born January 1, 1935, in Carteret, New Jersey, to the late John Stanley and Elizabeth Simon Sitar.
He married Geraldine Mochan on October 22, 1966, in Carteret, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a concrete finisher in the construction business and a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Mineola. He had lived in the Golden area since 1981.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Geraldine Sitar of Golden; four daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Michael Wright of Alba, Cheryl and David Albright of Gilmer, Kimery Savell of Saltillo, and Kristen Sitar of Golden; three brothers, William Sitar, Stanley Sitar, and Charlie Sitar, all of New Jersey; and seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christina, Cody, Corey, David, Danielle, and Jessica; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joe Sitar, Frank Sitar, John Sitar, and Steve Sitar; two sisters, Mary Traylor and Irene Osipovitch.
Bulah Mae Upchurch

Graveside services were held for Bulah May Upchurch of Fort Worth at Emory City Cemetery on Monday, June 30, 2008. Bulah was the daughter of the late H. G. (Tom) and Lala Mae Scott of Emory. She was born and raised in Emory.
Survivors include daughters, Judy Underwood and Marie Up-church: sons, Larry T. and David G. Upchurch; grandchildren, Krista Bailey, Larry Underwood, Elizabeth Armstrong, Christina, Laura, Kevin and Ashley Upchurch; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Noah Bailey, and Chel-c Armstrong.
Bulah was a loving mother, grandmother and great grand-mother.
Sharon K. “Nannie” Whitley

Services for Sharon K. “Nannie” Whitley of Lancaster were held on June 13 at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
She died on June 9, 2008.
She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother and most of all, a friend to all.
She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Hershel and Linda Pilland; brother, Mike Pilland; daughter and son-in-law, Sharlen and Jeff Sallivan, daughters, Paula Holland and Jammie Hunter; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Lois Hangaman; grandchildren, Jason Cook, Josh and Shell Vinson, Shallyn and Michael Givens, Zackary Hangaman, Jered Mc-Whorter, Micheal Pless, Chey-enne Hangaman, Dannie Jo Pless, Jase Sallavin, Kayann and Trey Hunter; eight great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and close friends, and her girls, the Lady Buggs.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jammie and Clifford Pilland; brothers, Ken-neth and Grady Pilland; great-grandson, Joshua Vinson Jr.; and an old friend, Skipper Hang-aman.
Velma Gibler Wright

Graveside services for Velma Gibler Wright, 67, of Emory were held Tuesday, July 1, at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Rev. Matthew Stidham officiating.
Mrs. Wright passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home in Sulphur Springs.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1940, in Hooker, Okla., the daughter of W. Wilson and Ida Caroline Packebush Ansley.
She married Ron Wright and he survives. Mrs. Wright worked as a nurse for many years and was of the Protestant faith.
Other survivors include one son, Brent Yowell and wife Charlotte of Amarillo; daughter, Melissa Thetford and husband T. Thetford of Abilene; grandchildren, Trent Yowell and Alex Yowell of Amarillo; and special friends, Aubrey and Lou Marble.
Arrangements were under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
Lewis Edward Baldwin

Graveside services for Lewis Edward Baldwin, 69, of Alba were held Saturday, Sept. 20, at Union Grove Cemetery north of Wills Point with Rev. Keith Cogburn officiating.
He passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, in a Tyler hospital.
Lewis was born August 16, 1939, in Dallas, the son of L.B. Baldwin and Ida Mae York Baldwin. He grew up in Mes-quite where he attended Mesquite High School.
On August 11, 1987, he married Rachel Holman of Canton. For ten years he was employed by Tyson Products as a truck driver. He lived in Wills Point for 15 years prior to moving to Alba where he resided for the past four years. Lewis enjoyed fishing and reading. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife Rachel Baldwin of Alba; son, Lewis Bradley Baldwin of Emory; daughters, Triska Sue Atteberry and husband Ronnie of Augusta, S.C., Tonya Jean Baldwin of Alba; two step-daughters, Theresa Gail Chase and husband John of Wills Point, and Alesia Ann Leach and husband Gene of Beloit, Wis.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother-in-law, Nadine Holman of Dallas; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and a granddaughter, Amanda Baldwin.
