Funeral services for Amy Elizabeth Barnett, 93, of Kilgore will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dick Stagner officiating. Burial will follow at the Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Barnett passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004 in Tyler.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

DAYTON H. WALKUP
Funeral services for Dayton H. Walkup, 86, of Kilgore were 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, Kilgore with the Rev. David Hampton officiating. Burial was in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mr. Walkup died Tuesday, November 2, 2004.
Pallbearers were Pete Keiser, Dan Ballenger, Joe Cruseturner, Edwin Slayter, Dana Ransom and John Anthony.
Born in Dallas on Oct. 26, 1918, Mr. Walkup grew up in Mexia, where his father was in the oil field supply business. After graduating from Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas in 1938, Mr. Walkup moved to Kilgore to take over the management of the Kilgore branch of the American Supply Company, the oil field supply business that his father had founded.
In 1948, Mr. Walkup was a founder of the Kilgore Ceramics Corporation, a company that manufactured bathroom fixtures. The management and workers took great pride in producing an excellent product, eventually marketing the bathroom fixtures throughout the United States. He was president of the corporation from its inception until he retired in 1983. In 1952, the Texas Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him as one of the year's "five outstanding young men," for the role he played in the establishment and success of the Kilgore Ceramics Corporation. Kilgore Ceramics was eventually sold to Mansfield Plumbing Corporation and shut down in 2002 as a result of labor disputes.
Mr. Walkup was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where he was a loyal member of the Masters' Sunday School class. He was dedicated to public service throughout his life. In the late fifties he served two terms as a Kilgore City Commissioner. He also served on several hospital boards in East Texas. He was a member of the Lions' Club, Jaycees and was a 32nd degree Mason. He served briefly in the military in WWII.
Mr. Walkup was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom Lee and Wilhelmina Hinga Walkup; a sister, Marian Walkup Goodson; his wife of 50 years, Frances Saunders Walkup; and his second wife, Margaret Squier Walkup.
He is survived by his son, Lee Walkup of Cheshire, Conn.; a daughter, Patricia Walkup of San Francisco, Calif.; and four stepchildren, Cheryl Squier Rosson of Longview, Luanne Squier Samuel of Allen, Richard Squier of Texas City and Peggy Squier Hembree of Tyler.

EFFIE E. SPEER
Services for Mrs. Effie E. Speer, 95, of Kilgore will be held Monday, February 7, 2005 at Two O’clock in the Afternoon at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with Mr. Ronnie Hogg officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Speer passed away Friday at Gregg Home for the Aged where she had lived since 1995.
She was born February 19, 1909 in Normangee, Texas daughter of the late Norman and Ida Ellison. Mrs. Speer was a native of Leon County, Texas, the descendent of a pioneer central Texas family. She spent most of her life living in Gregg County, having moved to Gregg County with her family in 1938.
Mrs. Speer attended Normangee Public Schools and was a graduate of the Mary Hardin Baylor Academy in Belton, Texas. She continued her education at Hardin-Simmons, Sam Houston State and East Texas State Universities. She was a classroom teacher before moving to Gregg County.
In January of 1945 she took a position as the Librarian for the newly established Liberty City Library, which operated as a branch of the Kilgore Public Library. Her other responsibilities while working for Gregg County included bookkeeping for the Road and Bridge Department in Pct. 3. She retired in January of 1980 after 35 years of service with Gregg County.
She was a former member of the Texas State Teachers and Texas State Librarians Associations. Mrs. Speer was a devout Christian and a longtime member of the highway 42 Church of Christ.
Mrs. Speer is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Billy N. and Joyce Speer of Kilgore and Bobby L. and Latane Speer of Kilgore; one brother Dr. Joe Ellison of Bryan; two granddaughters Simone Gill of Kilgore and Kelli Speer of Kilgore; one grandson Biff and wife Cassandra Speer of Kilgore; one great granddaughter Madison Gill of Kilgore as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family.
Her husband Travis Harlan Speer precedes Mrs. Speer in death.

T.J. WILLIAMS
Funeral services for T.J. Williams, 81, of Kilgore, formerly of Joaquin will be held Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005 at 2 p.m.w ith the Rev. Wesley Veazey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Watson & Sons Funeral Home. He died Feb. 4, 2005 at the Tyler Continue Care Hospital in Tyler.
Mr. Williams was born Aug. 8, 1923 in Shelby County to Ely and Beatrice Bztes Williams. He retired from Fina Oil and Chemical as a field superintendent. He served int he Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW and was a board member of the Joaquin High School Alumni Association. He was a member of Kilgore Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, M.E. Norris; brother, T.E. Williams Jr. and his wife, Lorene Williams.
He is survived by two daughters, Tommie Williams of Kilgore and Judy and Tommie Easley of Talco; son, Steve and Joyce Richards of Friendswood; one granddaughter; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjori and Emmitt Bass of Diboll and Johnnie Tomas of Kewanee, IL.; one brother, A.W. and Alta Williams of Lovington, N.M.; sister-in-law; one aunt; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
MONEY NEAL
Services for Money Neal, 52, of Longview, formerly of Henderson, were 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Henderson with Southern Funeral Home. Burial followed at Lakewood Memorial Park in Henderson. He died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
He is survived by his father; five children; four sisters; five brothers; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services for Marvin Dunlap Hall, Jr, 85, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kilgore.
He is survived by his son; daughter; two granddaughters; two nephews; two first cousins.
