KENNETH D. DAVIS
Kenneth D. Davis went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Sept. 26. He was at home, surrounded by loving family, after having fought a valiant two-year battle with bladder cancer.
Ken was born on June 17, 1932, and was the son of Fred D. and Sue Davis, who both preceded him in death. He grew up in the East Texas oil fields and graduated from Gaston High School in 1950. He graduated with a BBA in marketing and started his sales career with Van Waters and Rogers (now Univar) in Houston, from which he retired in 1991 as an account executive. After a brief period of retirement, his love of people and cars led him to a part-time job with a private car service; he enjoyed interacting with interesting passengers and relished the challenge of getting around Dallas on tight time schedules in busy traffic.
He and his wife Glynda moved to Hide-A-Way, Texas, in 1996 and thoroughly enjoyed meeting new friends, being active in the Hide-A-Way Community Church, playing golf, square dancing, round dancing and generally enjoying life. He was well known for his sense of humor and really enjoyed a good joke, whether played on him or someone else.
Those left to remember Ken and honor his memory are his devoted wife of 37 years, Glynda; his beloved children, Michael, Jennifer and Michelle; his brother Fred; his nieces and nephew, Dena Justice, Janet Riley and Gary Davis; and numerous other relatives as well as many friends.
