Elmer Calico
Services for Elmer Calico, of Kilgore, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 at Silone Baptist Church with Rev. E.H. Hardy and Elder Wade Wilks officiating. Burial will follow at Silone Cemetery under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home.
Mr. Calico died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 in Kilgore.
He was born May 7, 1930 in Smith County to Taylor Calico and Beatrice Lewis Calico. He attended Smith County Public School and at an early age united with County Line Church of the Living God P.G.T. and remained a member until his death.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruth Calico, Ella Mae Rowe, both of Kilgore, and Archie Mae Gibson of Sea Side, Calif.; two nieces; five nephwes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
ETHEL LEE BAILEY
Graveside services for Ethel Lee Bailey, 96, of Kilgore, will be Friday, May 31, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Harmony Hill Cemetery with the Reverend James Henderson officiating.
Mrs. Bailey died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in Kilgore.
She was born March 17, 1906 in Hill Country, Texas. She attended the Hill Country and Tatum public schools. She lived in the East Texas area most of her life. She was a longtime member of the Eastview Baptist Church in Kilgore.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her daughter, Hazel Bryan of Kilgore; son, Tommy Armstrong of Lehi Acres, Fla.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
Jim Hollingsworth
Services for Mr. Jim Hollingsworth, 78, of Kilgore will be held at two o’clock p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Rev. Dr. William J. “Bill” Ingersoll and Father Stephen Butts officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery.
Mr. Hollingsworth passed away Sept. 26, 2002 at his home.
He was born April 20, 1924 in North Carolina the son of the late Warren and Eula Hollingsworth. He was a graduate of Kilgore schools and Stephen F. Austin State University and he served his country as a United States Army Air Force pilot in England and France during WWII. He later was sales representative for Oil States Rubber Company and had real estate investments. Mr. Hollingsworth was very active in the Kilgore community including the Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation where he served as chairman of the Derrick Committee whereby he was instrumental in recreating the Kilgore derrick skyline.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Wallace Hollingsworth of Kilgore; three nieces, Nancy Hawa of Saginaw, Texas, Melissa Blair of Arlington and Judith Boyd of Arizona; and a host of other family and friends.

Benjalee Stailey Robberson
Services for Benjie Robberson, 80, of Kilgore will be two p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Reverands Father Tom Woods and Dr. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery.
Mrs. Robberson died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 in Longview, Texas.
She was born Sept. 16, 1922 in Dallas, Texas. Benjie attended Dallas Public Schools, North Texas Agricultural College (U.T. Arlington), North Texas State University and received her bachelors degree from Texas State College for Women (T.W.U). She and her husband the late Dr. G.W.J. “Jack” Robberson, moved to Kilgore in 1953 where Dr. Jack began his family medical practice. Benjie loved her church. At St. Paul’s she was the past president of the St. Mary’s Bible Study Guild, a member of the choir, served on the Vestry, and a member of the Daughters of the King St. Clair Chapter.
Mrs. Robberson was a past president of the Kilgore Church Women the Coterie Club, and the Gregg County Medical Society Auxiliary. Benjie was a member of the Evergreen Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Samuel Dinkins Chapter and Laird Country Club. She was a volunteer at the East Texas Oil Museum, Hospice of East Texas, and Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and David Wylie of Kilgore; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim Robberson of Longview, Joe and Mary Catherine Robberson of Longview; a sister, Billie Vaughn of Paris, Texas; four grandchildren, Katie Wylie of Fort Worth, Jaicey Lyn Robberson of Longview, Joshua Wright Robberson of San Marcus, Texas, Candice Leigh Robberson of Longview; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore Friday evening between 6 and 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Robberson was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. J. “Jack” Robberson, M.D. and a brother, Benton C. Stailey, Jr.
Henriett “Penny” Kenney
Services for Henriett “Penny” Kenney will be at Faith Tabernacle of God in Christ at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 with Pastor T.A. Kenney and Rev. Larry Kenney officiating. Burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kenney died Oct. 14, 2002 at her home.
She was born Dec. 26, 1946 to Johnnie and Illinois Watkins in Longview. At an early age, she became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Longview. For a brief portion of her life, she lived in Blythe, Calif. where she attended Palo Verde High School. She later returned to Texas and graduated from C.B. Dansby High School in Kilgore in 1965. Mrs. Kenney then attended IBM Career Training Institute in Longvew and earned a certificate in keypunching. She operated Luv Center Daycare from her home for eight years. At Faith Tabernacle, she faithfully served in the choir and in several untitled capacities, with the predominate role being Church Secretary.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lucille Stpehens; and one brother, Billy Ray Johnson.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Freddie Kenney of Kilgore; two daughters and a son-in-law, Tonya Kenney of Missouri City and Oticia Kenney and Mark Graves of Kilgore; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Amy Kenney of Flower Mound; one granddaughter; four brothers, Johnnie Watkins, Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Robert Harris of Jacksonville, Florida, George Johnson of Corpus Christi, and Troy Johnson of Longview; four sisters, Jean Lacy of Plano, Doris Bradley and Beverly Johnson both of Longview, and Alice Johnson of Kilgore; and a host of relatives and friends.
Fannie Elder Wright
Graveside services for Fannie Elder Wright, 84, of Kilgore will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at the Kilgore City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Besser officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
Mrs. Wright died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 in Kilgore.
She was born Dec. 25, 1917 in Kilgore to Jim and Zipora Elder. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kilgore. Mrs. Wright was a homemaker and a resident of Kilgore all her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Corine Carlisle.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Wright of Kilgore; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorthey Moore of Houston, Lucille Russell of Kilgore and Rose and Tyrus Johnson of Kilgore; three nephews; and many other loving family and friends.

Alfonso T. Luis
Services for Alfonso Luis, 57, of Kilgore, are pending with Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
