Guerrero
Antonia (Chapa) Guerrero, 77, of Corpus Christi, formerly of Live Oak County, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Guerrero was born in Live Oak County on July 16, 1926, to Manuel and Micaela (Fuentes) Chapa. She married Belisario Guerrero in September 1946, in George West. She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Corpus Christi.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; her brother, Uvaldo Chapa; her sister, Delfina DeLa Rosa; and one great-grandson, Joey Contreras.
Survivors include two sons, Oscar (Frances) Guerrero of Corpus Christi and Orlando (Connie) Guerrero of George West; three daughters, Nelva Diana Guzman, Norma (Steve) Prue and Amanda (Javier) Pinon, all of Corpus Christi; four brothers, Endercio Chapa, Lucio Chapa, Manuel Chapa and Ismael Chapa, all of George West; one sister, Eva Lopez of George West; seven grandchildren, Carlos R. Guerrero, Doris A. Guerrero, Amanda Pinon, Veronica Guerrero, Benjamin Guzman, Bernardo Guzman and Christopher Guerrero; and four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Andrew, Kaleb and Adrian.
Visitation was held Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Rosary was recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the chapel.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West, with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Special music included “Amazing Grace” and other traditional Catholic hymns played by Barbara Bednorz.
Pallbearers were Benjamin Guzman, Bernardo Guzman, Carlos R. Guerrero, Christopher Guerrero, Manuel Chapa III and Endercio Chapa Jr. Burial followed in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Hindes
Tommy Hindes, 97, of Charlotte, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, in Pleasanton.
Mrs. Hindes taught school in various school districts since 1924, spending the last 31 years in the Charlotte School District. She was active in ranching in McMullen and Atascosa counties. Mrs. Hindes was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the First Baptist Church of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nora Kuykendall; brothers Charles Kuykendall, T.R. Kuykendall Jr., Robert Kuykendall; and sisters Madlyn Kuykendall, Mary Willie May, Grace Graham and Maxine Snowden.
Survivors include a daughter, Lou Madelyn Cook of George West; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Doug) Munke, Clara Cook and Cynthia (Allen) McCain; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda and Melissa McCain and Jennifer Munke.
Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Hilltop Cemetery in Tilden.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, Pleasanton.
Katzfey
Wilfred N. Katzfey, 81, of George West, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Mr. Katzfey was born on March 25, 1922, in Taft, to Bernard and Mary Katzfey. He married Rita Ledwig on June 22, 1948, in George West. He served a tour of duty in Sudan, Africa, with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Katzfey, along with his brothers, built, owned and operated Katzfey Bros. Inc. — a grain elevator, feed mill and hog operation. He was involved with the bulldozing contracting, clearing many acres in Live Oak County. He also owned and operated several ranches in Live Oak County.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rita L. Katzfey; his parents; four brothers, Martin, Pat, Urban and Leonard Katzfey; and one sister, Catherine Katzfey.
Survivors include one son, Mark (Edie) Katzfey of George West; two grandchildren, Andrew and Alison Katzfey of George West; one sister, Marie Mason of Sepulveda, Calif.; one niece, Charlene White of George West; and other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at St. George, with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial followed in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert White, Quentin White, Shayne Katzfey, Steve Mason, Lee Wallek, Jim Tyree, Tom Moses and Guy James.

Culli
Faye Bess Easley Culli, 91, of Three Rivers, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the Live Oak Nursing Center in George West.
Mrs. Culli was born in Hemphill on Feb. 6, 1912, to Vincent Clement and Marietta (Williams) Easley. She married George Culli on May 2, 1931, in San Antonio. She had resided in Three Rivers since 1972 and lived in Taft for several years prior to that. She was a retired bookkeeper and was a self-employed business owner in Taft. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Three Rivers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Adam Culli, in 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Jean) Culli of Beeville and Dr. George (Dianne) Culli of Leesville, La.; four grandchildren, George Culli IV, Carolyn Stacey, Edward Culli and Matthew Culli; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Saturday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Three Rivers, with the Rev. Marcus Gohlke officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tim Stroleny, J.R. Felkins, Buddy Orsak, Stephen Stapleton, Larry White and Richard Dockery. The deacons of First Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.

Del Toro
Julie Gail Talley Del Toro, 26, died Friday, July 4, 2003, in a Beeville hospital following a sudden illness. She was employed at the Garza Unit in Beeville as a medical aide specialist.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mathew Del Toro, in 2000.
Survivors include her fiance, Jessie Gongora of Beeville; her parents, Larry and Shirley Talley; a daughter, Shawna Talley; her maternal grandmother, Doris McKinney, all of Oakville; two brothers, Clint Talley of Corpus Christi and James (Kim) Talley of Kingsville; a great-aunt, Ruby Carroll; an aunt, Kathie Crawford, both of Three Rivers; and a niece, Savana Talley and two nephews, Tristan and Ryan Talley, all of Kingsville.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. in the Roberson Funeral Home chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will take place Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Three Rivers, with Brother Don Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakville Cemetery.

Mr. Goynes
Cecil Raymond Goynes, born June 17, 1917, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 8th. He passed away peacefully at his ranch near George West, his favorite place in the world, at the age of 89. During the last months, he was cared for by his loving nephew, Charles Austen of George West, for which the Goynes family is so grateful.
Cecil was born in Vernon, Texas, to Ana Fredonia Henderson and William Earl Goynes, the fourth of six children.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Bering Goynes.
He is survived by his brother, Charles William Goynes and wife Lillian of Sinton.
He is also survived by his five loving children, Robert Michael and wife Paula, James Allen and wife Lourdes, Thomas Anthony and wife Paula, Samuel Lee and wife Susan, Mary Louise and husband Greg Blasko; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was proud of his seven grandchildren, who loved him dearly, Sean Blasko, Chris Blasko, Denise Blasko and husband Caleb Simmons, Michael Goynes, Sandy Goynes and husband Tommy Yonley, Scott Goynes and Sean Goynes.
Cecil was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps Company 886, out of Mathis, Texas, helping build many state parks, including Lake Corpus Christi State Park. Cecil was also a United States Merchant Marine Veteran, serving on oceangoing ships between 1945 and 1946. He was a painting contractor, real estate landowner, farmer and rancher, and active member of St. ChristopherÂ’s Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, and of St. George Catholic Church in George West, Texas.
