Mrs. Lange
Carrie Marek Lange, 89, of Three Rivers and formerly of Calliham, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1918, in Thrall to Frank and Bessie Haag Marek. She was employed at the Country Food Store for many years and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Three Rivers.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Joyce Lange.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Paul and husband Bobby of Simmons Community in Three Rivers; two grandchildren, Brandon Paul and wife Carrie of Huffman and Cody Paul and wife Nikki of Huntsville; and four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Paul and Blake Paul, both of Huffman and Sydney Paul and Tori Paul, both of Huntsville.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Three Rivers with Rev. Norman Sulaica Jr. officiating. Interment followed at Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brandon Paul, Cody Paul, Jeffrey Sautter, Jeffrey Zamzow, Daryl Weiding and Elton Sautter. Honorary pallbearers were Marrion Weiding and W.D. Smith Jr.

Mrs. McClendon
Mary Louise Coker McClendon, age 72, of Oakville died on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. She was a homemaker and member of Oakville Baptist Church.
She was born to Hudson and Dora Anne (Coquat) Coker on December 13, 1935 in George West. She married Edgar Ross McClendon on March 8, 1957 in Utopia.
Her survivors include her husband, Ross McClendon of Oakville; a son, Rod (Michelle) McClendon of Grenville, South Carolina; two daughters, Kelly (David) Richardson and Sheila (John) Sisk, both of Mineral; three sisters, Dorothy Baker of Lytle, Eva (Bill) Tullis and Nita Sue (Gene) McClendon, both of Three Rivers; six grandchildren, Madison McClendon, Bryce McClendon, John Ross Sisk, Katie Sisk, Hudson Sisk and Allen Richardson.
Visitation was held Friday, February 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Graveside service was held Saturday, February 9 at 4 p.m. at Oakville Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Stogner officiating. Interment followed at Oakville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cole McClendon, Kent McClendon, Tyrell McClendon, Mike DuBose, George Ray DuBose and Carie Tullis.

Mr. Stridde
Oscar August “Pop” Stridde, age 91, died on Thursday, February 7, 2008.
He was born in Gonzales, Texas, on July 18, 1916, to William F. and Olga E. (Hinze) Stridde. He lived in the Ray Point community from 1929 until his death. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Corps in the 434th Bomber Squadron. He returned from the war to live with his parents and farm and ranch with his father. He was the middle of 5 children and was the last surviving sibling.
On October 6, 1956, he married Joyce “Mama Jo” Willeford Forehand and instantly became the father of four children - Tommy, Billy Dean, Patty Jean and Carolyn Jane Forehand. Along with an active farm and ranch, he and his wife were co-owners, eventually becoming sole owners, of the Antler Inn Motel and Restaurant in Three Rivers until 1977.
He was preceded in death by his wife, “Mama Jo,” on February 5, 1996; his parents, his son, Billy Dean Forehand on October 5, 1987; a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Jeanne Dockery on November 4, 1997; and his siblings, Norma Zamzow, Edward “Slim” Stridde, Herbert Stridde and Raymond Stridde.
He is survived by his children, Tommy (Dena) Forehand and his daughter Patty Jean Reagan, both of Three Rivers, his daughter Carolyn (Sonny) Ledwig of Cotulla; grandchildren, Mark Forehand and Mike (Sue) Forehand of San Antonio, Dean (Sara) Zamzow of Fountain Hills, AZ, Steven (Kerry) Zamzow of Austin, Beki Jo (Kelly) Wilson of Katy, Rex (Dianne) Forehand of Georgetown, Robin (Richard) Dockery of Three Rivers, Tina McKay of Georgetown and Joshua (Shanna) Wadsworth of Pleasanton, 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 8 at 6 - 8 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Three Rivers and the funeral services were held Saturday, February 9, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Interment followed at Ray Point Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ray Point Cemetery or to Ray Point Community Center.
Pallbearers were Mark Forehand, Mike Forehand, Dean Zamzow, Steve Zamzow, Josh Wadsworth, Rex Forehand, Kelly Wilson, Richard Dockery and Scott Stridde.

Mr. Perez
Juventino J. “J. J.” Perez, age 66, of Beeville died on Thursday, January 31, 2008. He retired from civil service and worked several years for Bee County Community Action Agency.
He was born to Juventino and Angelica Rodriguez Perez in Hebbronville on May 2, 1941. He married Delfina Zepeda in Victoria on August 24, 1968.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juventino and Angelica Perez and a sister, Mida Olvera.
His survivors include his wife, Delfina Perez of Beeville; a son, J.J. (Suzanne) Perez of Beeville; a daughter, Priscilla Sanchez of Kingsville; two brothers, Frank (Gloria) Perez of Kingsville, Josh Perez of Greenville; and two grandsons, Joshua and Mathayus.
Visitation was held Saturday, February 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with Father Eddie Garcia officiating. Funeral service was held Monday, February 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory #2 Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joshua Perez, Orlando Zepeda, Mark Zepeda, David Hinojosa, Arnold Lopez.

Mr. Prouty
James S. Prouty, age 73, died Tuesday, February 4, 2008 at a local nursing home following an extended illness. He was a plant operator in the oilfield industry.
He was born to Strautler and Blanche (Junda) Prouty on February 12, 1934 in Wann, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lynn Neal.
His survivors include his wife, Della “Dee” (Weaver) Prouty of Three Rivers; two sons, Kevin (Lorrie) Prouty of Terrel, James Strouder Prouty of Hondo; one daughter, Teresa (Mike) Tollan-McCulley of Jenison, Michigan; one sister, Lois (Wendell) Dodd of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 7 from 1-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 8 at 11 a.m. at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers.

Mrs. Perez
Mrs. Esperanza V. Perez, 83, of George West died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008.
She was born to Manuel and Maria (Hinojosa) Villarreal on June 29, 1924 in La Para Community.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Luis Perez.
Her survivors include four daughters, Simona Ybanez of Odem, Victoria Garza of Beeville, Andrea Rodriguez of George West, Celia Cuevas of George West; two sons, Alberto Perez of George West, Francisco Perez of George West; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church. Interment followed at George West Cemetery.

Mr. Upton
William “Bill” Travis Upton, age 81, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 in a Corpus Christi hospital following a sudden illness. He retired from owning M & U Petroleum in 2002, was a member of Austin’s Old Three Hundred, a member of the Sons of Republic of Texas, a World War II veteran and a member of the Brush Country Cowboy Church.
He was born to David and Stella Upton on June 25, 1926 in Goldfinch.
He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Dwayne Upton.
He is survived by his wife Marian Upton of George West; nine children, Kenneth (Doren) Upton of Annapolis, Maryland, Margaret (Charles) Cravens of George West, Kathleen (John) Chipy of Corpus Christi, Mark (Grace) Upton of George West, Barbara (Calvin) Bunton of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Michael (Kathy) Upton of George West, William D. Upton of George West, Karen Bridges of George West, Edith Upton of Corpus Christi; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 27 from 1-8 p.m. at the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel of George West. Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of George West with Pat Traxler officiating. Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Pearsall Cemetery in Pearsall.

Mr. Reyes
Pedro Reyes, 63, died on Thursday, Jan. 17 in Houston following an extended illness. He was an oilfield worker.
He was born to Tomas and Sara Reyes, Sr. on Feb. 18, 1944 in Clegg.
He is survived by his mother, Sara Reyes of George West; two sons, Pete Reyes Jr. of Houston and Juan Reyes of Port Lavaca; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in George West with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was held on Monday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. at the St. George Catholic Church in George West. Interment followed at the George West Cemetery.
