Owens
James A. Owens, 68, died on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 in Corpus Christi. He was born on January 6, 1938 in Live Oak County to Albert Clyde Owens and Vera Mae Parr. He was a Diesel Mechanic.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Vera Mae Owens.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Frank) Warner of La Vernai and son, James “Jim” Owens Jr. of Austin; grandchildren, Joshua and Cody Warner of La Vernia; and sister, Barbara (Bobby) Chandler of Robstown.
Funeral Services were Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. at the Three Rivers Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Stogner officiating. Burial services immediately followed at the Three Rivers Cemetery in Three Rivers.

Petrie
Tommy E. Petrie, 67, of Channel View died on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 in Houston. He was born on Dec. 29, 1938 in Pleasanton to the late Carl Reed and Rose Marie Burnam Petrie. He worked as an oilfield electrician and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Petrie of Channelview; son, Charles Reed Petrie of Channelview; sister, Betty Calloway of George West; brother, Jerry Petrie of Sinton; and two grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. in the Dobie Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Roberson officiating. Burial followed in the Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis.

Krog
Betty Lou Wood Krog, 76, died on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mathis.
Survivors include her husband, Robert T. Krog of Mathis; two sons, Ralph L. Krog of League City and Henry L. Krog of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Lynde J. Southard of Youngsville, La.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service was on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Mathis at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to C.T.R.C. (Cancer Therapy Research Center) P.O. Box 1657, San Antonio, TX 78296-1657 in Betty’s memory.

Wright
Larry Allen Wright, 69, died on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 following a brief illness. He was born on Sept. 18, 1937 in San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Agnes Wright; brother, Jerry; sister-in-law, Jeanette; nephew, Little Wayne; and nephew, Scott Wright.
Survivors include his wife Sue; three sons, Kyle (Renee) Wright, Jeff (Kellye) Wright and Darren Wright; grandchildren, Darby Wright, Lauren Wright, Lexi, Spencer and Whitney Wright, Taylor, Trevor, Bree and Brock Martin and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Rader Funeral Home from 6 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Kelsey Cemetery with Richard Johnston officiating.
Pallbearers were Andy and Craig Wright, Josh, Adam, Casey and Brandon Johnston and Jason Henley. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Deakins, Bill Barnes, Kenneth Hayner, J.E. Reed, Horace Pepper, Larry Henley, L.D. and John McCoy.
Memorials may be made to Hearts Way Hospice, 1306 Pine Tree Rd., Longview, TX 75604.

Mrs. Samford
Maryanna Stewart Samford, 67, of Robstown, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital.
She was born July 21, 1939 in Beeville, Texas to Roy Kemper Stewart, Sr. and Montie Carl Chambers Stewart. She was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation as a personnel coordinator. She was a member of River Hills Baptist Church and the Nueces County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Mead Samford.
She is survived by her brother, John W. “Tim” (Debbie) Stewart of Sinton; her children, Robert Lee (Linda) Samford of Corpus Christi, Lisa Arlene (Wayne) Painter of Johnson City, Archie Mead Samford, Jr. of Belton and Marlon Samford of Three Rivers, 6 grandchildren; two nieces.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 10 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 in River Hills Baptist Church with Brother Bill Simmons officiating. Burial followed at the Three Rivers Cemetery.

Mr. Cervantes
Lupe Cervantes, age 49, of Beeville died on Wednesday, June 20, 2007.
He was born to Juan and Maria de Carmen (Sanchez) Cervantes in Trojas de Rincon, Guanajuato on December 7, 1958. He married Maria De Refugio Gonzalez.
Survivors include his wife, Maria de Refugio Cervantes of Guanajuato, MX; three sons, Ramiro Gonzalez Cervantes, Saul Gonzalez Cervantes, Joel Gonzalez Cervantes, all of Guanajuato, MX; four daughters, Anna Rosa Gonzalez Cervantes, Araceli Gonzalez Cervantes, Anna Noelia Gonzalez Cervantes, Gabriela Gonzalez Cervantes all of Guanajuato, MX; and his parents, Juan and Maria de Carmen Sanchez Cervantes.
Rosary was held Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel of Beeville with Deacon Luis Trevino officiating. His burial was held in Rio Laja, Guanajuato.

Mr. Colunga
Juan Colunga, age 78, of George West died on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. He was a rancher.
He was born to Julian and Fransisca (Rangel) Colunga on May 30, 1929 in George West. He married Saturnina Dominguez on October 18, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his son, Juan Colunga, Jr. and his daughter, Florinda Carvajal.
He is survived by his wife, Saturnina Colunga of George West; two sons, Joe (Ema) Colunga and Rosendo Colunga, both of George West; three daughters, Cathy Colunga, Maria (Antonio) Zuniga, Delma (Amador) Gutierrez all of George West; five brothers, Amadeo Colunga of Mission, Adolfo Colunga of George West, Anastacio Colunga of George West, Trinidad Colunga of George West, Toribio Colunga of George West; four sisters, Catarina Rodriguez of McAllen, Paula Cantu of George West, Leonor Paiz of George West and Sepherina Paiz of Snider; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, June 22 from 2 p.m. from 6 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Rosary was Friday at 7 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West. Funeral service was held on Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church. Organist was Barbara Bednornz, singer was Cris Luna. Burial followed at George West Cemetery with Fr. Joseph Olikkara officiating.
Pallbearers were Armando Gutierrrez, LeRoy Valadez, Juan Zuniga, Tony Zuniga, Larry Millermon, Arturo Mendoza. Honorary pallbearers were Noah Isaiah Valadez, LeRoy Valadez, Jr. and John Edward Zuniga.

Mr. Hales
James “Jimmy” Hales, 80, of Three Rivers died on Thursday, June 21, 2007. He was self-employed, auto body repair.
He was born to Dealy and Hattie (Mulkey) Hales in Mission on August 2, 1926. He married Virginia Helm in Hondo on October 13, 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lawrence Hales and Chester Hales and his mother-in-law and father-on-law.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Helm Hales of Three Rivers; two sons, Kelly (Sarah) Hales of Ray Point, James Richard Hales of San Angelo; a daughter, Brenda Leigh Garcia of Three Rivers; three grandsons, three granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 24 from 5 p.m till 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral service was Monday, June 25 at 2 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Three Rivers, organist was Stephanie Harris, singer was Laura Sulaica who sang “How Great Thou Art”. Burial was at Ray Point Cemetery, in Ray Point Community with Pastor Norm Sulaica, Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers were Julius Helm, Robert Helm, Karen Rogers, Curtis Hicks, Homer Smith, Brayden “J. P.” Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Joseph Larakers, Bobby Geffert, Tommy House, Bobby Williford.
