Nolan
Louise Nolan, 97, of Cuero died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in Cuero following a short illness.
Mrs. Nolan was born in Fort Worth on April 29, 1906, to the late John and Willie Mae Burch. She and her husband, the late C.A. Nolan, ranched in Live Oak County for many years. At one time, she wrote a column for The Progress. She was a Methodist.
Mrs. Nolan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandchild, Thomas Bluntzer; her son-in-law, Pete Bluntzer; four sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Bluntzer of Cuero; two grandchildren, Ann (Bruce) Evans and Rick (Melissa) Bluntzer, both of Austin; and four great-grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Stevens of Houston, Dr. Matt (Ellen) Evans of Alvin, 1st Lt. Sam (Ann) Bluntzer, USMC, of San Diego, Calif., and Nolan Bluntzer of Berkeley, Calif.
Graveside services were held May 22 at the Three Rivers Cemetery with the Rev. John Alsbrooks officiating. Burial followed in the cemetery under the direction of Freund Funeral Home in Cuero.
Pallbearers were Rick Bluntzer, Bruce Evans, Dr. Matt Evans, 1st Lt. Sam Bluntzer, Nolan Bluntzer and Mark Stevens. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Custer, Tony Engbrock and A.E. “Poozie” Ley.

Services are pending at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in George West for Jimmy Guynes of Georgetown, who passed away Monday, May 19.
McFarland
George Fitzhugh McFarland, 85, of Alvin (formerly of George West) died Tuesday, May 20, at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
Mr. McFarland was born in Kenefic, Okla., on Dec. 3, 1917. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired truck driver employed by the Texas Highway Department, and was a member of the VFW and Alvin Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Agnes McFarland, in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Johnny McFarland of Alvin; four sisters, Virginia Baugh of Garland, Verta Ree William of Pleasant Hill, La., Cleda (Smithy) Smith of George West, Lela (Floyd) Baugh of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Harvey Ross McFarland Jr. of George West; two granddaughters, Kelley (Clifford) McCrummen of Alvin and Kim (Chris) Hays of Seabrook; a grandson, Craig McFarland of Alvin; two great-granddaughters, Kara Rosser of Alvin and Kayla Hays of Seabrook; two great-grandsons, Allen Rosser of Alvin and Christopher Hays Jr. of Seabrook; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Alvin. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Galloway Funeral Home Chapel in George West, with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Burial will follow at George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Craig McFarland, Clifford McCrummen, Bob Carpenter, Richard Moncrief, Allen Rosser and Allen Brenecky.

Soliz
Regina Garcia Soliz, 90, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was recited Sunday evening at 7:30 at Treviño Funeral Home in Beeville. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Beeville, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Nino Martinez, Ernie Soliz, Lucas Aguilar, Ramon Soliz Jr., Carlos Soliz, Ramon Barrientes, Jessie Martinez, Noe Soliz Jr., David Ponce and Aucencio Ponce.
Mrs. Soliz was born in San Diego on April 9, 1913, to Ramon Garcia and Martina Peña. She was a lifelong resident of Beeville. She was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Victory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Santos Soliz, two daughters, Eloisa Barrientez and Audelia Ponce, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosa (Edward) Suniga of Beeville and Janie (Ron) Ortiz of Victoria; five sons, Servando (Ysidra) Soliz and Ernest Soliz, both of Beeville, Noe G. (Eva) Soliz of Big Springs, Ramon (Esperanza) Soliz of Three Rivers and Jose (Delia) Soliz of Corpus Christi; 58 grandchildren; 150 great-grandchildren; and 80 great-great-grandchildren.

White
Brenda (Bednorz) White, 47, of League City died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Webster. Mrs. White was born May 6, 1956, in San Antonio to Walter John and Eulalia "Lollie" Rose (Strzelczyk) Bednorz.
Mrs. White graduated from George West Independent School District and received a bachelor of science degree at Sam Houston State University in 1978. She married Michael Gene White in Huntsville on Oct. 22, 1978. She was a teacher at Clear Creek ISD since 1980 and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Gene White of League City; her mother, Lollie Bednorz of George West; mother-in-law, Ann Patrolia of League City; grandmother, Clara Strzelczyk of St. Hedwig; a son, Steven Michael White of League City; a sister, Connie (Danny) Dunn of Killeen; two brothers, Jimmy (Barbara) Bednorz of George West and Sam Bednorz of Del Rio; three brothers-in-law, Paul (Janet) White and Jake White, all of League City and Scott (Danette) White of Dukedom, Tenn.; nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Forrest Park East, Gulf Freeway, I-45, Houston. Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery in George West.

Furr
Bea Furr, 97, died Monday, July 21, 2003.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 5 to 9 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers, and the funeral service will be held at that location on Thursday at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Mrs. Furr and her husband, Zeb Furr, married in 1929, and moved to Live Oak County where she spent the rest of her life. In 1965, she founded Bea Furr Bookkeeping along with the H&R Block franchise for Live Oak and McMullen counties.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, five sisters and daughter-in-law Mary Louise Furr.
Survivors include a brother, W.A. Johnson; a sister, Lois Fern Reece; her children, Zeb and wife Doris Furr, Jo-An and husband Ronnie Booth, Freda and husband Edgar Sawyer, and Barry and wife Jo Bridges; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bea Furr Scholarship Fund, P.O. Drawer 339, Three Rivers, TX 78071, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Guthrie
Margie N. Guthrie, 60, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in Corpus Christi. Mrs. Guthrie was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Sweet Home to Charles A. and Annie (Sevcik) Balusek. She married Jimmie E. Guthrie in Corpus Christi on March 26, 1962.
Mrs. Guthrie lived in Oakville and Corpus Christi. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a bookkeeper for L.L. Harris Grocery since 1963.
Visitation was held Friday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral was Saturday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Three Rivers with the Rev. Arnold Moede officiating.Burial followed in the Oakville Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie E. Guthrie of Corpus Christi; a son, Rex (Julie) Guthrie of Buda; a daughter, Roxanne (Larry) Epperson of Oakville; five grandchildren, Kayla Epperson, Brett Epperson, William Guthrie, Amanda Guthrie and Nathan Guthrie; and three brothers, Ervin Balusek of New Braunfels, Lester Balusek of Robstown and Carl Balusek of Comfort.

McMannis
Services are pending at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery in Corpus Christi for Earl McMannis, 80.
Mr. McMannis died Tuesday in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Thompson
Melvin E. “Bo” Thompson Sr., 75, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1928, in Wallace, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Buleah Thompson; a son, Ronnie Thompson; and a sister, Wilma Dean Elliot.
He loved hunting and fishing and did so until he got sick. He worked in the oilfield for 52 years and enjoyed repairing junk. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Taft.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pat Thompson of Sinton; daughters, Sharyon Stubbs of George West, Carolyn (Rex) Vines of Corpus Christi, Karen Beaver of Houston; sons, Kenny Thompson of George West, Melvin (Stacy) Thompson Jr. of Sinton, Billy Kocurek of Corpus Christi, and John (Faye) Kocurek of Orange Grove; brother, Malin (Arlene) of Houston; sisters, Wanda Mayfield and Patricia (Carlos) Murphy of Houston; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Richea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Sinton Cemetery in Sinton.
Pallbearers were grandsons Ryan Vines, Ronnie Thompson, Corey Vines, Reagan Vines, and Kodi Thompson.
