MARGIE MARIE ALBRIGHT BARNETT
Margie Marie Albright Barnett, 80, of Baytown, Texas passed away on July 16, 2003 at a local hospital. Margie was born on March 7, 1923 in Atlanta, Louisiana. She was a homemaker, member of Second Baptist Church and a member of the TOPS Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Barnett, son, Charles Ray Barnett, parents, Isom and Betty Albright.
She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Albright of Baytown, sisters-in-law, Eudora Barnett of Highlands, Irma Barnett of Crosby and Gwen Barnett of Woodville, TX., nieces and nephews, Bart Albright, Debbie Ferguson and Margie Albright, and numerous other nieces and nephews, and devoted caretaker of eight years, Yvonne Issac.
Visitation will be today, July 17, 2003, 6 to 8 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, July 18, 2003, 4:00 p.m. at Navarre Chapel with Rev. Tommy Clements and Rev. Mark Stafford officiating. Burial will be at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Adam Albright, Zachary Hall, Ronnie Carlisle, Bill Schrock, Gary Schrock, Steve Lashlee, Mark Porter and Marcus Thompson.

RAYMOND LEE MERCER
Raymond Lee Mercer, 73, of Onalaska, was born October 7, 1929 in Highlands and passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003 in a Baytown hospital. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was also a member of the Baptist faith and the Baytown Masonic Lodge #1357.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Weatherly officiating. After Masonic rites, burial will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park. Masons will serve as pallbearers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ora Mercer, sisters, Lillian Shepherd and Hazel Hall, and stepson, Russell Adams and is survived by his wife, Darlene Mercer of Onalaska; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathy Mercer of Baytown and Louis and Jo Mercer of Highlands; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Knight and Robert Coleman of Splendora and Debbie and Leon Pond of Highlands; stepchildren, Terri and Eddie Watkins of Dayton, Glenn Adams of Orlando, FL, and Randy Adams of Denver CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Maryls Mercer of Montana, Gordon and Beverly Mercer of Sheridan, and Allen and Dorothy Mercer of Baytown; and 25 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

LEOLA HIGDON
Funeral services for Leola Higdon, 79 of Baytown, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003 in the Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. Higdon was born on August 29, 1923 in Concord, Texas to the late Ollie (Jones) and Ocie Mott and died on Thursday, July 17, 2003 in Arlington. A longtime resident of Lufkin, she had resided in Baytown for the past 12 years. Mrs. Higdon was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, Kathy Coyer and husband Skip of Grand Prairie, Pat Ball and husband Billy of Baytown, and James Higdon of Baytown; grandchildren, Cindy Reavis, Tony Klaus and wife Sandy, Thomas Courville, Tina Coffey and husband Kazen, and Jamie Higdon; great-grandchildren, Nikki Reavis, Tyler Courville, Trevor Courville, Morgan Coffey, Brooke Coffey, Kyle and Ashley Klaus, great-great-grandchildren, Kala Breanne Barrera; brothers, J.L. Mott and wife Helen, L. J. Mott and wife Selma, Clyde Mott and wife Virginia; sister in laws, Doris Mott and Bertie Mott.
Mrs. Higdon was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Ocie Mott; husband, James “Jimmie” Higdon; sister, Lula Mott; and brothers, Lester Mott and Edgar Mott.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff and volunteers of Vitas Hospice for the compassion and loving care shown to our mother during her illness.

GREGG BICKERSTAFF
Gregg Bickerstaff, 64, passed away July 10, 2003 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.Gregg was born July 12, 1938 in Houston, Texas. He was a resident of Baytown for fifty years and graduated from Robert E. Lee Class of 1957. He was a past Deputy Constable for Precinct 3 and had worked for Millenium Chemical for over twenty-five years. He was a member of the Catholic Faith and a member and past Master of Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, loved his kids and adored his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carroll and Mary Katherine Bickerstaff. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Norma Bickerstaff of Baytown, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jimmy Bickerstaff of Corpus Christi and Beauford and Whitney Bickerstaff of Baytown, sister, Mary Nell Maples of Peoria, AZ., two grandchildren, Maison Bickerstaff of Baytown and Cristen Bickerstaff of Dayton, also, survived by his buddy, Sharmin.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 19, 2003 from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Earthman Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roy Cloudt officiating.

WHALEN D. GREEN
Whalen D. Green, lifelong resident of Old River-Winfree, Texas, departed this earth at the age of 83 on July 16, 2003 in Baytown, Texas. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents Wordy M. and Ava Green, his wife, Joyce, all of Old River-Winfree and brother, Doyle of Alvin, Texas. Whalen was employed by Tenneco Oil Company for twenty-nine years, the last five years as Supervisor at the Mont Belvieu Terminal, retiring in 1985. A long time supporter of the Barbers Hill I.S.D., he served on its school board for 12 years. He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Force having served in North Africa and Italy. He enjoyed sports, watching the Dow Jones, visiting with friends and family, the outdoors, especially deer hunting and feeding “his” crows.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Bubba Gregory of Mont Belvieu, son and daughter-in-law, Rev. David N. and Anita Green of Bridge City, grandson, Paul Gregory, of Baytown, granddaughter, Alyce and husband Jeremy Jones, and great-grandson, Peyton Jones of Mont Belvieu. He also loved his granddogs, Macy and Hunter. The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Dr. Kimberlie Gonzalez and the nursing staff of Surgical South 2, San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, for their excellent and compassionate care.
Visitation will be today, July 18, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral service is Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. David N. Green officiating. WILEY W. LARAMORE
Wiley W. Laramore, 71, lifelong resident of Baytown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2003 at his residence. Wiley was born on February 5, 1932 in Baytown. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Yvonne Laramore, parents, Matt J. and Ida Laramore, brothers, M.J. and wife Loretta Laramore and James S. Laramore, sister, Freide Nell Vaughn, niece, Cindy Whitley, nephews, Monty J. Laramore and Jimmy Allen Laramore. He is survived by step-daughters, Kathy and husband Charles Woody, Royann and husband Tom Sweatt, and Debbie Merrill, brother-in-law, Gene Vaughn, sisters, Esther and husband, Guy Wakefield, Janette and husband, Johnny Johnson, sister-in-law, Melba Laramore, seven grandchildren, several nieces. nephews, other relatives and a host of friends, all of whom deeply loved Wiley and will sadly miss him.

MARIE ZILLS GAGE
Marie Zills Gage, 55, of Baytown, Texas, was born October 24, 1947 in Hobart, Oklahoma and passed away Monday, July 14, 2003 at her home. She was an employee at the H-E-B grocery store in Pasadena and was a Mary Kay representative.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. At her request, her body will be cremated.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Darris and Elsie Zills and is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip Gage of Cypress, Joey and Deitre Gage off Milano, and Brian and Stephanie Gage of Milano; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris Ann and Sonny Kaatz of Baytown, Ida and James Moody of Manville, and Becky and Oliver Kinman of Magnolia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky and Roxanne Zills of Alvin and Mike and Martha Zills of Manville; and grandchildren, Ashley, Brock, Tanner, Trevor, Travis, and Tristan Gage.
