Cherry Nakia Owens
Cherry Nakia Owens, “Chebby” was born Feb. 11, 1976, in Crockett, Texas to Jerry and Linda Owens. She was a member of Praise & Glory Worship Center in Huntsville.
“Chebby” passed away Aug. 4, 2007, in a Galveston hospital at age 31. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Owens. She is survived by her 2 children, Ja’Imani Thacker and Johnathan Ware of Huntsville; mother, Linda Owens of Huntsville; brother, Anthony “Yogi” Epps of Crockett; a loving “father figure” Bernard Prater, several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Wake services will be held Friday evening, Aug. 10, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at McClain-Clebourn Funeral Services, 201 East Houston, Crockett. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Bethel Baptist Church, 900 North 6th, Crockett. The Rev. Earl Harris, pastor and the Rev. V.L. Parker will officiate. Doyle C. Tow
Doyle C. Tow, 80, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 8, 2007. He was born on June 30, 1927, in Eastland, Texas. He lived in Conroe, Texas since 1952. He was our inspiration, mentor, and role model.
His love is mirrored in his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Joe Tow, brother Donald Tow, and his son, Randall Doyle Tow. He is survived by his wife, Coye Ann; daughter, Pam Markham and husband, Jeff; grandson, Kevin Markham and wife Cindy, their children Mason and Coyann; grandson, David Markham and wife Kathy and their daughter Baylee; son, Rodney Tow and wife, Linda, granddaughter Lauren Tow, grandson, Christopher Tow; and daughter Patricia Perry. He is also survived by Randall’s wife, Melinda, and Randall’s two sons, Paul Tow and Patrick Tow.
Doyle attended school in Morton Valley, Texas and graduated from Eastland High School. He joined the Navy after graduation, serving in the Philippines. When he returned, he married his long-time love, Coye Ann Thompson. They were married sixty one years and nine months. Doyle attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and then worked for Lone Star Gas in Athens, Texas.
He chose Conroe as the home of his family and foundations of his business life. In 1952, Doyle and Ann opened Conroe’s first Dairy Queen where he picked up the nickname “Tow Burger.” Later, they entered into the real estate business, developing subdivisions and shopping centers including Oak Hollow subdivision and Crossroads II Shopping Center.
Doyle previously served as Conroe City Councilman and as president of the Conroe Board of Realtors. He was a lifetime member of the Montgomery County Fair and a past president of the Conroe Jaycees. He is a member of the April Sound Church.
After he retired from real estate, he began his next career building boat stalls on Lake Conroe. Those who knew him learned of his skills as a craftsman. His favorite hobby, hunting, led him into custom building rifles from scratch, skillfully cutting, grinding and shaping wood and metal into beautiful handmade guns. He loved to build with his hands and his heart. He provided family and friends with unconditional love and gave everyone that extra special love and guidance which comes from a deeply caring heart.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with services beginning at 12:30 p.m. Visitation and services will be at Cashner Funeral Home and burial will be in the Garden Park Cemetery. Those desiring may make donations to the American Diabetes Association, 2400 Augusta Drive, Suite 420, Houston, TX 77057 in his memory.
Thelma Edith Critchlow
Thelma Edith Critchlow was born Nov. 23, 1913, in Los Angeles, Calif. and passed away Aug. 9, 2007, in Huntsville. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Huntsville Aug. 11, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the Bishop Michael Boyle officiating. Burial will follow in Beaumont at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Larry Critchlow and wife Rosita; daughter, Constance Victoria Bateman and husband, James; son, Jerome Wesley Critchlow; grandchildren, Shawn Critchlow, Delores Holcombe and husband, Terrell, Dru Bateman and wife, April, Douglas Bateman and wife P.J., John Wesley Critchlow, Cheryl Lee McElroy and husband Michael, Katherine Rose Jacque and husband, Kevin, William Matthew, Devan Critchlow, Ian Wesley Critchlow; great-grandchildren, Tanner Holcombe, Tannlee Holcombe, Trey Critchlow, Amy Waller, Glade Smith, Keifer bell, Jacob Hardy, Hunter Jacque, Gunnar Jacque, Gage Jacque; great-great-grandson, Matthew Thomas Waller; and brother Daniel William Kelso.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John William and Anna Rosali Victoria Danielson Kelso; husband John Wesley Critchlow and son Phillip Sven Critchlow.
William Joseph Lowman
William Joseph “Bill” Lowman, 81, passed away at home Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007. He was a faithful husband for over 61 years, a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather as well as a friend to everyone who knew him.
At age 18, he was sent to the front lines in Germany where he became a decorated World War II hero and survived the Battle of the Bulge. He was truly one of the “Band of Brothers”. When he returned from the war, he married his true love, Bonnie Lou Wright. As a highway contractor, he built over 100 State of Texas highways and built roads in the West Indies as well as South America. He had a wonderful long life and a million wonderful experiences.
He was very proud of his father and mother, Dr. and Mrs. Harmon Luther Lowman, long-time president of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Becky Meador and Blynda and David Barker; and his son, William J. Lowman II and his wife, Racheal; also, his much loved grandchildren and great-grandsons, Meagan and Richard Meador, Jason, Kelly and Grant Hammons & Jake, Tisha and Wyatt Hammons. He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Joseph and William Meador.
A memorial service will be held in Palacios, Texas on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on Main Street. Brandi Lynn Brown
Brandi Lynn Brown was born July 19, 1989, and passed away Aug. 14, 2007, in Huntsville. Brandi was full of life, energy and love for her family and friends. She also loved Tinkerbell and Strawberry Shortcake. She was a 2007 graduate of Huntsville High School and was currently attending Montgomery County College in Conroe. She had plans to transfer to Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, next fall to pursue a degree in Agri-business. Brandi loved animals of all kinds, especially horses. She was a member of 4-H Horse Club and was an avid barrel racer and pole bender.
Brandi is survived by her parents, Stew and Tamara Brown of Huntsville; sisters Holly and Carissa; paternal grandparents, Claude and Jerri Brown; maternal grandparents, Jim and Bonnie Hanson; uncle Clayton Hanson; aunt, Kirsten Hanson; uncle, Greg Brown; aunt, Amanda Broughton; great aunts and great uncles, Derwood and Nancy Collum, James and Nanette Collum, Ed and Janice Murphree, Jack and Penny Springer and Ralph and Willie Jo Key; cousins, Casey and Maggie Collum, Tonya Collum, Ean Cain, Alicia Brown, Chelsie Brown, Tiffany McKee and David Baum. She is also survived by her beloved horse, Flame and her dog, Prissy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Huntsville Church of Christ on Highway 30 West at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Brooke Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday, Aug. 17, 2007, from 5-8 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Parrish, Kevin Joyner, Kyle Kegans, Cody Wallace, Spencer Langley and Alex Hutchison.
Geraldine Marie Bobbitt
Geraldine Marie Bobbitt was born March 21, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away Aug. 15, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Maggie Clem, sister Arlene Galloway, grandson Michael Warren Melton and granddaughter Emma Dawn Bobbitt.
She leaves to cherish 58 years of marriage, husband Charles Curtis Bobbitt. She is also survived by children, Barbara Trotter and husband Donald, Richard Bobbitt, Patricia Swindoll, Sharon Siverand and husband Michael, Charles Edward Bobbitt aka Edward Scott; grandchildren, Colette Foreman, Julie Harvell, Jarred Lee Bobbitt, Charles Melton and Charles Swindoll; brother, Reginald Clem; sister, Shirley Marshall and husband, Jim; brother, Ronald Clem and wife Colene; brother, Harold Clem and wife Billie; step-grandchildren, Michael Siverand Jr., Ashley Siverand, Christine, Jennifer, Donald Ray Jr., Kimberley, Patricia and Beth; great-grandchildren, Zachary Bobbitt, Curtis Bobbitt, Ashley Foreman, Dakota Foreman, Amber Harvell, Shelby Harvell, Cameron Schilhab, Michael Ryan Melton, Chelsea Melton, Christopher Bobbitt and Jarred Lee Bobbitt Jr., and great-great-grandchild Kaleb Bobbitt.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wiley Dorman and the Rev. Charlie Powell Jr. officiating with interment to follow at Farris Cemetery at the covered area.
Serving as pallbearers are Charles Melton, Mike Siverand, Donald Trotter, Michael Ryan Melton, Curtis Bobbitt, Charles Swindoll, Zachary Bobbitt and Jarred Lee Bobbitt. Honorary pallbearers are brothers Reginald Clem, Ronald Clem and Harold Clem.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to their little full-time nurse Patricia. Most of all they wish to give their thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Willie Florine Woods
Mrs. Willie Florine Woods, 79, of Huntsville passed away Aug. 14, 2007, in Harris County. She was born Sept. 16,1927, in Walker County.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at 1 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Pastor Rick Nance will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Northside Cemetery. John Rolling, Sr., Roosevelt Johnson, Donald Jenkins, Clevester Douglas, Nelson Johnson, Sr., Vaugh Ross, Joe Jones and Albert Minor will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Woods was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she served as President of the Usher Board.
Mrs. Woods is survived by 3 sons, Vann G. Hawkins, Sr. (Julia) of Houston, Willie Lee Randle and Willie C. Randle (Brenda) both of Texas City; a daughter, Lorrissa Lincoln of Houston; a brother, William H. Vann (Bennie) of Huntsville; a sister, Fannie Earline Irving (Alton) of Huntsville; 13 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Kandus Hightower Sharp
Mrs. Kandus Yvonne Hightower Sharp, 25, of Huntsville passed away Aug. 4, 2007, in Harris County. She was born June 28, 1982, in Walker County.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Pine Bluff Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Moses Hightower will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jeffery Scott Smith Sr., Edward Fisher III, Christian Hightower, Jimirian Spencer, Gregory Thomas and Ricky Riles. Kandus was a member of Pine Bluff Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher and sang in the youth choir. A 2000 graduate of Huntsville High School, Kandus was also a member of HHS Band.
Kandus is survived by her parents the Rev. Moses and Elaine Hightower of Huntsville; her husband, Kenneth Sharp; son, Kyle Alexander Sharp; two daughters, Kayla Rae Sharp and Kalese Sharp all of Houston; one sister, Brittany Hightower; paternal grandmother, Eddie Hightower; maternal grandmother, Margaret Owens all of Huntsville; father-in-law, Kenneth Palmer; mother-in-law, Tina Knox, both of Houston; 5 uncles, 11 aunts, 1 great uncle, 4 great aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.
