August Miller

August Miller was born Aug. 2, 1942, and passed away June 25, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister and a son.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Miller; sons, David Miller and wife, Sandy and Anthony Miller; daughters, Kimberly Miller, Amy Bryan (David), Deborah Kelly (John) and Crystal Zeigler.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 1301 FM 405, Riverside.

Weldon Jackson ‘Buddy’ Dodd

Funeral services for Weldon Jackson “Buddy” Dodd, 82 of Jacksonville will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Bullard, Texas with the Rev. Frank Roberson and Joel Whitmire officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery, Whitehouse, Texas. Services are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Texas.

Mr. Dodd was born April 24, 1925, in Houchton, Ga. and passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007, in a Tyler hospital. He served in the U.S. Army, was a retired chief appraiser for Huntsville ISD, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Huntsville and a member of First Baptist Church in Bullard.

He is preceded in death by his brother Ray Dodd and sisters Peggy Ray and Tacky Mitchum. He is survived by his wife, Florence Dodd of Jacksonville; son, Rex M. Dodd of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Phyllis N. Duncan of Forney, Texas; brothers, George T. Dodd of Jacksonville, Byron Dodd of Whitehouse; sister-in-law, Christine Dodd of Tyler; brother-in-law, Rev. Mitchum of Tyler; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bryan Duncan, Ben Duncan, Cody Dodd, Jason Croley, Joel Payne and Anthony Salisbury. Honorary pallbearers are Bradley Lewis, Larry Locke, Andy Devine, Gail Jackson, Eric Rodriguez, Randy Rodriguez and Rod Rodriguez.

Zona Florence Talley

Zona Florence Sanders Talley was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Taylor, Texas, and passed away July 11, 2007, in Las Cruces, N.M. Her parents were Macron Lucas Sanders and Frances Maude (Bounds) Sanders who both preceded her in death.

She was married Oct. 4, 1946, in Rosenberg, Texas to William Glenn (Jiggs) Talley who preceded her in death in 1979. She and her husband moved to Alvin, Texas in 1948 where he worked his entire careen for Phillips Petroleum. Florence retired from the Alvin Independent School District in 1980 after 13 years of service. She moved to Las Cruces New Mexico in September 2006.

She is survived by three sisters, Voyce Drachenberg of Alvin, Valentine Evans of Taylor and Winnie Sanders of Crockett, Texas; daughters, Frances Moen and husband John Moen of Las Cruces, N. M. and Ann Cason and husband Dick Cason of Huntsville, Texas; grandson Tommy Moen and wife Sarah Moen and great-grandaughter Ashley of Sandyhook, Conn.; granddaughter Amy Garcia and husband Reuben Garcia and great-granddaughter Emily of Las Cruces, N. M.; granddaughter Emily de Milliano and husband Chris de Milliano of Huntsville and grandsons Kirby Cason of Huntsville and Kendall Cason of Dallas, Texas.

She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ who worked diligently to let her faith shine through as an example to others. Even as her eyesight failed in later years, she was able to sing almost every hymn from memory. Her faith, family and friends were bedrocks for the life that she and her husband Jiggs shared. She continued that after he passed away with those who surrounded her, having a very special bond with her four sisters and sister-in-law. She always provided wise counsel and encouragement to those who knew her.

She was famous for sharing her fried pies with friends and relatives. That was a very special treat that gave her great joy and was always well received.

She will be missed by friends and family, but not forgotten by those whose life she touched. She made a difference.

Graveside services will be held Saturday in Taylor, Texas where she will be buried next to her husband Jiggs.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial contributions be made to the Silverlake Church of Christ, 2837 Smith Miller Ranch Road, Pearland, Texas 77584.

Steven G. Dueitt

Steven Glenn Dueitt, 63 of Humble, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007, in a Houston hospital. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 29, 2007, 10 a.m. at Brookeside Memorial Park in Houston. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Brooke Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Mr. Dueitt was born on April 18, 1944, in Mobile, Ala. to Stephen Carl Dueitt and Lottie Mae Earls Dueitt who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Allen Military Academy for six years and a member of the Cheerful Clown Alley of Houston.

He is survived by his wife Sharon; son, Roy Dueitt and wife Michelle of Humble; daughter, Stephanie Dueitt of Humble; brother, Roy L. Dueitt and wife Jean of Burton; niece, Janice Dueitt of Houston; nephew, Travis Dueitt and wife Melissa.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Lester L. Wunsche

Lester L. Wunsche, 67 of Huntsville, passed away on July 16, 2007. Born March 4, 1940, he was the second child and oldest son of Alvin D. and Julia Roth Wunsche, of Spring, Texas, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Huntsville, Oak Forest Masonic Lodge No. 1398, and the Houston Police Retired Officers Association. He served 24 years with the Houston Police Department, 1962-1987, as a Patrolman, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and in the final nine years of his law enforcement career, as a Deputy Chief of Police. He served in or commanded numerous police department divisions including Traffic, Patrol, Supply, Garage, Recruiting, Internal Affairs, Narcotics, Vice, Juvenile, Personnel and Inspections.

Lester is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-three years, Phyllis Serna Wunsche; son, Keith Wunsche and wife Tina of Montgomery; daughters, Elizabeth Foltz and husband Don of Magnolia and Julia Wunsche of Spring; stepdaughters, Sylvia Aranza of Spring and Danielle Gomez and husband Rafael of Pflugerville; grandsons, Alvin Wunsche, Aaron Wunsche, Willie Wunsche, Levi Henry, Kevin Foltz and wife Summer, Noah Gomez and Ray DeLaRosa; granddaughters, Darlene Manning and husband Brian, Felicia DeLaRosa, Coral Woodrome, Amanda Wunsche, Sierra Gomez and Earthie Gomez; great-grandson, Marshal Manning; great-granddaughters, Angel Patterson, Lexie Manning, and Mikyla McRay; brother, Kenneth Wunsche and wife Betty; sisters, Ellen Stallones, Karen Smith and husband Eddie. Other survivors include former wife, LaVerne Bayer, special best friend, Charlie Chenault, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives as well as many friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Earthman Resthaven Chapel, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. July 19, 2007, at Earthman Resthaven Chapel. Pastor Reinhard Wuensche and Chaplain E. A. Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Stallones, David Smith, Nick Serna, Byron Serna, Charles Roth, and Charles Davenport. Honorary pallbearers include all active and retired Houston Police Officers and all active and retired Houston Police Department civilian personnel.

Virginia Lorraine Little

Virginia Lorraine Little was born September 7, 1927 in Muskegon, MI to Burdette and Caroline (Kraska) Roen and passed away in Conroe July 18, 2007. She grew up in Muskegon where met and married Joe Lee Little and they moved to Groesbeck, Texas in 1950.

In 1957 they moved to Huntsville where he began working for the Texas Prison System and later moved to Sugar Land. She later returned to Huntsville. She adored her family and cherished every moment with them, she was an avid reader, and she enjoyed working on her needlepoint and crafts and in her garden.

She is survived by daughter Terry Little, daughter Kathy Stanford and husband Lonnie, daughter Debby Sander and husband Bob, son Joe Little, Jr and wife Julie, grandchildren; Lori McBee, Sheri Pegoda, Keri Lummus, Lonnie Stanford, Jr., Bobby Sander, Jason Sander, Kyle Little, Kristen Little, and Kelsey Little, great-grandchildren; Stephen, Daniel, Alison, Weston, Bryce, Briley, Autumn, Jaden, Ella, Jason and Jorden, sister Audrey Vanderwier along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe Lee Little, Sr, and brother Emmett Roen.

Graveside services will be held Sunday July 22, 2007 at 4 PM in the Faulkenberry Cemetery at Groesbeck, Texas. A memorial service will

be held at a later date in Sugar Land.

Henry Jacob Lutz

Henry Jacob Lutz, 91, beloved father and grandfather, passed away July 15, 2007 of natural causes at his home in Elkins Lake. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on August 30, 1915 to Jacob Lutz and Olga Szili Lutz. He is survived by two sons, Brian H. Lutz and Gary A. Lutz of Houston; four grandchildren, Doug Lutz of Houston, Brian A. Lutz and Mary C. Lutz of Panama City, Panama, and Jeff Noble of Houston; three great grandchildren, Alexandria, Ian, and Ethan Lutz of Houston; brother, William Lutz of Catawissa, Pennsylvania; and his very special pal and companion, his dachshund, "Rusty".

Henry was predeceased by his mother and father; wife, Nancy Lutz; sister, Frances Belfort; and brothers, George, Elmer, and Hubert Lutz.

Henry Lutz was a remarkable man, who lived an interesting and worthwhile life. He served his country in the U. S. Army and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 298, Danville, Pennsylvania. Henry received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1939, and at the request and convenience of the government, was converted to a civilian employee to assist with the WWII war effort from Central America. Henry hosted a radio show in Panama and was employed by the U. S. Department of Engineers, Canal Zone; Panama Canal Commission and the Publics Works Department, Coco Solo, Canal Zone; and the Department of Defense, Canal Zone. After retiring from the federal government as a civil engineer, Henry moved to Florida where he retired as building inspector for the city of Sarasota. In 1997, Henry moved to Huntsville, Texas to be close to his sons and became an "official Texan", as his family often teased. Henry traveled extensively in Central and South America and enjoyed passing on his love of baseball to many children during
his excursions. Henry was a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church, Sarasota, Florida.

Henry Lutz was blessed with an independent and full life to the day of his passing. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Private services will be held with interment to follow in Barranqilla, Colombia.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family suggests contributions to a charity of choice.

Jessie Bradford

Jessie "JB" Brent Bradford, 89, of Madisonville died Friday, July 20, 2007 in Madisonville. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Sunday, July 22, 2007at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. The family will receive visitors 5-7 PM Saturday.

Survivors include his wife, Gertie Rogers Bradford; sons, Jimmy Bradford and wife, Karen and Kenneth Bradford; daughters, Patsy Matejka and Becky Bradford; 9 grandchildren,15; great grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
