C.B. Helton
Longtime Huntsville resident
C.B. Helton was born December 14, 1920 in Gilmer, Texas. He passed away at the age of 85 on January 27, 2006 in Conroe, Texas.
C.B. resided in Walker County most of his life. He owned a dirt contracting business for many years, as well as a mobile home park. C.B. was a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending time with their family.
C.B. is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ida Lee Helton. Other survivors include children, Annette Mechler and husband, David; Jeanette Harding and husband, Neal; Patricia Brandon and husband, Dan; and Ricky Helton and wife, Sherry. C.B. is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The grandchildren are Jenny Thornell, Denise Mechler, Chris Harding, Candace Bruce, Karen Hall, Albert McDaniel, Adam McDaniel, Angie Vaughn and Donna Severns.
A graveside service will be held Monday, January 30, at 2 p.m. at Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst, Texas.

Mildred Ann Watts McDonald
Mildred Ann Watts McDonald was born May 2, 1938, and passed away Feb. 2, 2008. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas.
Melissa Tudon
Melissa Tudon was born Dec. 6, 1993, and passed away Feb. 3, 2008. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at the funeral home.
Josie Faye Coomer
Josie Faye Coomer, a long-time resident of Walker County, died peacefully on Feb. 6, 2008, in Huntsville, Texas. She was born May 26, 1912, to John and Mary Brock.
The family will receive friends at the Brooke Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in the Chapel of Brooke Funeral Home.
Josie was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Auxillary Post 95.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Amos Jack Coomer.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Lee Durham Sr. of Conroe, Texas; three daughters, Mary Lou Cambill of Spring, Texas, JoAnn Weaver of Huntsville, Texas, and Shirley Nixon of Huntsville, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at The Houston National Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Robert Jefferson Brown
Mr. Robert Jefferson Brown was born Jan. 9, 1920, and passed away Feb. 3, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be at Brooke Cemetery.
David T. Branch Jr.
Mr. David T. Branch Jr. , 68, of Walker County passed away Feb. 2, 2008, in Walker County. He was born Sept. 26, 1939, in Walker County.
A wake service will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at noon at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick C. Nance officiating. Interment will take place at the Martha Chapel Memorial Park. James Shorts Jr., Elem Wynne Jr., Robert Booker, Lewis Thompson Sr., Greg Cox and Charles James will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Branch was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, serving as a Trustee, participating with the Male Chorus and Men’s Impact Ministry. He was employed with Texas Department of Corrections for 20 years before retiring.
Mr. Branch will be greatly missed by his survivors, including his wife, Joyce Branch; daughters, Latisa Branch Bluford (Eddy), LaTerri Branch McAdams (Eldridge); son, Kaleb T. Branch; stepson, Karsten Mack; sisters, Elemae Branch, Waldo Nobles (Solomon), Mattie Sowells (Lawrence), Eugenia Goudeau and JoAnn Redd (Eugene); seven grandsons and a host of other relatives and friends.

Robert E. 'Bobby' Lane
Robert E. 'Bobby' Lane 65, died Feb. 6, 2008, at his residence. A native of Kingsport, Tenn., he had lived in Texas since 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde P. Lane and Hazel Hill Lane, and by a brother, Walter C. Lane.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Paula Sue Nelson and husband Ricky; two grandchildren, Stacia and Andrew Loyd, of Wheaton, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Thomas D. Lane and wife Kaye, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; nieces Traci Lane and Kelli Martin (husband John) of Dallas, Karen Small and great-niece Sarah Small of Lewisville, Texas; and a nephew, Warren Lane of Kingsport, Tenn.
He attended Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport and completed his education in Dallas, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had worked as a computer draftsman for Texas Instruments in Dallas and in the oil-well supply business in the Houston area. At the time of his death, he had worked for many years as a licensed drug and alcohol counselor for Gateway, a private contractor for the Texas Department of Corrections. His peers say that he helped an untold number of people in that capacity.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
Ralph H. Eddy Jr.
Ralph H. Eddy Jr., 80, became the angel in Heaven that we knew he was on Earth Tuesday February 20, 2007. He was born December 7, 1926 in Newark, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph H. Eddy Sr., mother Clara and his sister Amy Onnen.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Darlene Ziebell Eddy, daughter Mary Bronner, grandchildren Billie Jo Bronner, Jessie and Roy Mathis and countless other family members and friends.
He sincerely loved his family and proudly served his county in the Navy aboard the USS Chicago during World War II. He thoroughly enjoyed life and loved the great outdoors where he took nature walks and worked in his garden.
Services will be held Friday February 23, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James W. Freeman
James W. Freeman, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, age 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior, peacefully in his sleep, on March 24, 2007. James was born on Feb. 26, 1915, in Colorado County, TX. He was an active member and Deacon at West 14th, Thornton Street, Pinemont, Oak Ridge, Onalaska, Point Blank and First Baptist Church in Huntsville.
James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Glenna Sprock Freeman; his son, James Jr.; daughter, Nancy Crisman and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bob Springer. Four grandsons and three great-grandsons also survive. Also surviving are brothers Kenneth (Margie) Freeman and Gerals (Loy) Freeman; sisters Estelle Key and Lily Mae Hawn, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Libey and Winnie Freeman; brothers Edwin and Garland Freeman and sisters, Kathering Young, Winnie Delgado and Dorothy Truett and great-granddaughter, Daryll Cristman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol Williams and Rev. David Valentine officiating. Interment will follow at Brooke Cemetery.
