Adrienne Lee Ann Brown
Adrienne Lee Ann Brown, 16, tragically passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in Cleveland, Texas.
She was born Sunday, Aug. 26, 1990, in Humble, Texas, to the late Charles Dewayne Brown and Dana Ann McPheeters.
She was a member of the Dolen Baptist Church. She also played softball with Tarkington Baseball Association for five years. Her freshman year at Tarkington High School she played volleyball, basketball, and was on the track team.
Adrienne was preceded in death by great- grandparents, Evelyn McPheeters, Marjorie and Norman Turnbow and great-grandparent, Robert F. Denny.
Adrienne is survived by her mother, Dana Ann Brown and step father Howard Bagley of Riverside; 4 brothers, Cole Brown of Tarkington, Justin Brown of Tarkington, James Bagley of Riverside, Shane Bagley of Riverside; great-grandparents, John McPheeters of Alton, Ill., Jean Denny of Tarkington, Addie Denny of Pasadena; grandparents, Robert McPheeters of Livingston, Hollis Bagley, of Wisconsin, David and Cheryal Denny of Tarkington, Bob and Darlene Immel of Wisconsin, Delorise Gray of Trinity; aunts and uncles, Holly and Parrish McPheeters of Staunton, Ill., Robert McPheeters of Livingston; Jamie and Dale Ford of Austin, Teresa Ford of Trinity, Joey Gray of Trinity, Maryann and Roy Barton of Wisconsin, Jackie and Nick Nienhaus of Wisconsin, Cindy and Steve Long of Wisconsin; great aunts and uncles, Trenna and Rankin Ramsey of Trinity, Jill and Ray Baum of Tarkington, Vicki Gatson of Alton, Ill., Mark Denny of Patton Village, Texas and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 6, 2007, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home. Services for Adrienne will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Rural Shade Baptist Church, Tarkington, Texas with the Rev. Shane Hovelman officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
Services will be handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.
Jimmie L. Ross
Funeral services for Mrs. Jimmie L. Ross will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Pilgrim Ridge Holiness Church in Riverside.
Burial will immediately follow in the St. Olive Cemetery in Riverside. Visitation will be Friday, April 6, 2007, 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel.
Friendo M. Doggett
Mr. Friendo M. Doggett, 45, of Huntsville passed away April 1, 2007, in Harris County, Texas. He was born Dec. 16, 1961, in Walker County, Texas. Funeral Services, under the direction of Williams & Sons Funeral Home, will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Thessalonia Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. John Spencer will officiate. Burial will follow in Rawls Cemetery. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Doggett, a construction worker, was a member of Thessalonia Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Lucille Doggett of Huntsville; daughter, Brandy Simmons of Trinity; two uncles, Roger Doggett (Doris) and Frank Doggett (Judy) both of Houston; an aunt, Delois Merchant (J.B.) of Huntsville and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dora Lee Ferguson
Dora Lee Ferguson, born Oct. 22, 1907, in Houston County, Texas, to Steve and Mary Brannen Baker, passed away April 8, 2007, in Irving, Texas at the age of 99. Mrs. Ferguson is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Robert Coda Ferguson. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, nephews, Lewis McPherson; Herbie Beard, and niece, Sandra Baker, Nora Ann Hart, Catherine Fails, Judy Downe, Jane German, Carolyn Blakley, and Barbara Barr, as well as great nieces and nephews Steve McPherson and wife Cindy, Keith McPherson and wife Elizabeth; Ricky Beard, Doralene Beard, and Tator Beard. Mrs. Ferguson also leaves behind special friends, Deborah Taylor, Cleo Woods, and Myran Coffman. Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m., at the Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Carroll Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Ivey Cemetery in Kennard, Texas under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home.
Doris Vondra Millican
Mrs. Doris Vondra Millican, 72, of Huntsville, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007, in the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Millican was born March 7, 1935 in Lovelady and had lived in Huntsville for the past 27 years. She was a memeber of the American Legion Post #618 in Willis and also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Crockett.
Survivors include husband, Billy Millican of Huntsville; children include Linda Smith and husband Melvin of Grapeland, Norma Fuson and husband Gary of New Waverly, Billy Jeffery Millican of Georgia, James Rains and wife Ginger of Huntsville, Calvin Millican and wife Tammy of Crockett and Melinda Woolley and husband Bubba of Lovelady; grandchildren include Laurie, Melissa, Jason, Julie, Gary, Crystal, Billy, Marcus, Jamie Gail, Joshua, C.J., Danny, Ketrina, Tasha and Chandra; great-grandchildren include Ashton, Veda, Alex, Keaira, Angel, Kristin, Ayden and Kaylee; brother Jimmy Vondra and wife Pat of Crystal Beach; sisters Mary Ann Millican of Crockett and Jean Davenport of Crockett.
Mrs. Millican is preceded in death by parents, Joe Vondra and Annie Vondra Steffek; step-father, Tom Steffek; brothers, Charlie Vondra and Joe Frank Vondra Jr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Vondra Millican will be held Monday, April 9, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Donald “Donnie” Glenn McAdams, 53 of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Brooke Funeral Home Chapel, 672 FM 980, Huntsville, with the Rev. Scott Matthews officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Dew Cemetery in Dew, Texas.
Lois Jean Peterson
Lois Jean Peterson, born Nov. 29, 1931, entered her eternal rest on April 19, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. The family invites you to visit with them from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Huntsville Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2007, at the Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. that afternoon in Houston National Cemetery.

Judith S. Hook
Judith S. Hook was born in Pittsfield, Mass. on April 1, 1928. She was a member of the Junior League of Pittsfield. She married John W. Hook in 1958 and moved to South Texas where they raised five children. She graduated with honors from Pan American University in 1965, was a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and was a member of the honorary educational society, Delta Kappa Gamma. Judy taught in the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo School District for several years. After earning her Master’s Degree, she became principal of Lamar Elementary in Edinburg, Texas. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and served as College Chapter Director for many years.
Judy and John’s passion for antiques led them to open Heritage House Antiques which they enjoyed until moving to Cullman, Ala. There she renewed her love for the sport of golf. In the early 90’s they moved back to Texas to be closer to their children. She was a member of Texas National Golf Club where she served as president. She was a member of the Wedgewood Ladies Golf Club and served as their president. She also enjoyed playing golf at the Conroe Country Club. Judy moved to Elkins Lake in Huntsville, Texas in 2003 following John’s death.
She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association and greatly enjoyed her time in the A & I Golf Association. Judy felt blessed to make so many wonderful friends at Elkins Lake. She is survived by sisters, Sally Frisch of Michigan, Mary Lou Sisson of Huntsville, her twin brother Dwight Sisson of Houston, five children Karen Moore of Massachusetts, Christine Hook of Houston, Bill Hook of Weatherford, John Hook of McAllen and Jennifer Tunstall of Deer Park. She also has ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Cartwright Cemetery in Montgomery County. In lieu of flowers memorial donations , may be made to Thee Hospice - P.O. Box 6548 Huntsville, TX 77342.
Howard Scroggs

Howard Raymond Scroggs, 95 of Waco, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012. Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 6, 2012 at Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene, 2001 Valley Mills Dr. Waco, TX. 76710, with the Rev. Roger Huff and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. A private graveside service will be held by the family prior to the service. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 PM at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. Waco
Howard was born November 20, 1916 at Cherokee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1933. He joined the Oklahoma National Guard in January1936. The National Guard was mobilized in September 1940 in preparation for World War II and Howard went on active duty with the mobilization- He attended Officers Candidate School at Camp Barkley, Texas and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, Medical Administrative Corps October 17, 1942. Howard served with the Fourth Infantry Division Headquarters throughout the combat period in Europe. He entered Europe on D-Day and returned to the United States in December 1945.
Howard received a B. A. Degree from Central State University, Edmond, Oklahoma in May 1946, a Masters of Hospital Administration Degree from Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois in May 1948, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from The University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa in February 1960.
He received an appointment in the Regular Army Medical Service Corps and entered on active duty in August 1946. He was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas for several years and then went to the Far East Command in 1953. He served as Executive Officer, 121 Evacuation Hospital in Korea for one year. The as Executive Officer, Yokohama General Hospital for a year then returning to the United States in July 1955. Howard was assigned to the office of the Inspector General, U. S. Army Medical Service in Washington, D.C. Other assignments included a tour of duty at the Medical Field Service School, Fort Sam Houston, Texas and as Executive Officer, Martin Army Hospital Fort Benning, Georgia. Howard served in the Army for a total of 29 years retiring November 1, 1964 at the grade of Colonel. After his retirement from the army, he joined the staff of Baylor University at Waco, Texas and taught in the Business school until his retirement in 1985.
Howard married Clara LaVern Schiffner August 23, 1938 at Cherokee, Oklahoma. During the early days of Howard's army career Clara taught at the Driftwood Oklahoma School. She had the pleasure of teaching her nephew Norman Nossaman.
He was a lifelong member of Church of The Nazarene serving in numerous capacities, and supporting numerous ministries and missions, such as the Christian Children’s Fund.
Howard is survived by 2 daughters, LaVern Kay Rodgers and husband, Dr. John Rogers, Sandra Jane Scroggs; son, Dr. Donald Scroggs and wife Patrice. grandchildren; Dr. John Rodgers III, Janna Rodgers Perry, Emily Scroggs and Elyssa Scroggs McCoy. great grandchildren; Eva Clare, Perry, and Ellen Kay Perry
Howard and Clara moved to the country near Lorena, Texas. Clara passed away May 10, 1994.

Vida Kelly

Dorothy Elvida “Vida” Kelly passed away on February 9, 2012 at the age of 93. She died peacefully with her family and hospice caregiver by her side at her home in Huntsville, Texas. She was born in Garrison, Texas on February 27, 1918 to Jessie Watson Lunsford and Dee Lunsford (nee Scarbrough) and was the eldest of seven siblings.
Vida is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred Delton Kelly; sisters, Faye Hart and Opal Kelly; brothers, Lank Lunsford and Wendell Lunsford; and grandson, Robert Wayne Kelly. She is dearly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Al Stem of Spring, Texas; her brother Billy and wife, Leona of Navasota, Texas; her daughter, Dorothy Lockwood of Huntsville, Texas; her son, Kenneth Wayne Kelly and wife, Mary of Buna, Texas; grandchildren, Sherry Henke and husband, Matthew of Huntsville, Texas; grandson, Kenneth Kelly and wife, Terri of Porter, Texas; grandson, Ricky Kelly and wife, Kim of Buna, Texas; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Tate-Erdmann of The Woodlands, Texas; Treasure Kelly-Hollender of Jacksonville, Florida; Zachary Tate of Huntsville, Texas; Alexis Kelly of Porter, Texas; Christian Kelly and Taylor Kelly of Buna, Texas; Katherine Henke and Sarah Henke of Huntsville, Texas; great-great-grandson, Gavin Erdmann of The Woodlands, Texas and countless nieces and nephews.
Vida will be remembered as a kind, soft-spoken lady with a quiet and stubborn strength. Her family never recalls a harsh word spoken from her lips, and as grandchildren came into her life, the whole neighborhood joined in calling this small-statured woman “Bigmama.” She primarily kept house for her family, but she did spend time working outside the home as a seamstress in the alteration department at JC Penney in Pasadena, Texas. She was accomplished at quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She was eager to share this art with her siblings and her grandchildren. At age ninety, she was still altering pants for her granddaughter. She will be remembered for her style and grace and all-around class.
Many hold fond memories of her as a caregiver to children. It was truly the care of those around her, young and old, that acted a catalyst for her longevity. Her daughter, Dorothy, was rarely seen without Vida by her side, as they were not only mother and daughter but the best of friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Huntsville, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on February 25, 2012 followed by memory sharing at Magnolia Lake from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Shirley Joyce Wojcik

Shirley Joyce Beasley Wojcik, 71, of Tenaha, TX. previously of New Waverly, TX. passed away February 14, 2012 in Nacogdoches, TX. Mrs. Wojcik was born September 9, 1940 in Huntsville, TX. to Oscar Elijah and Hattie Edna Minze Beasley. She is preceded in death by her husband James Edward Wojcik. Mrs Wojcik, lived most of her life in Huntsville, TX and worked for TDC and Sam Houston State University.
She is survived by 3 children; 1 step-son; Ronnie Cannon. Special friends; Estell Branch, Linda Stephenson, Linda Windham, Evelyn Payne, Anne Cooper, Wes & Maxine Bradley and Rev. Duane and Paula Cooper.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be 5:00 PM Sunday Feb. 19, 2012 at the Brooke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duane Cooper Officiating. Visitation and viewing will start at 4:00 pm also in the Brooke Chapel. Burial will be at Brooke Cemetery.
Nancy (Sgt. Mom) Ann Roeben

Nancy Ann (Sgt. Mom) Roeben, 74, of Huntsville, TX. previously of the Houston area, passed away February 18, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family. Ms. Roeben served in the United States Air Force. She retired after 30 years of service as a Sgt. for the Harris County Sheriffs Department. She is survived by her Twin Sister Jane Lee Woodroof of Huntsville, TX. daughter; Carrie and Mark Duncan of Dallas, TX. Son; Thomas and Penny Roeben of Katy, TX. son; Darrell and Lisa Roeben of Trinity, TX. and daughter; Tina and Kevin Knight of Dickinson, TX. 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Beloved pets; Chevy, Gurdy, Oreo, Catdog and a host of family and friends. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday February 25, 2012 at the Brooke Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Nelson officiating. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated at Brooke Crematory. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Rita B. Martin Joe Widner

Martin Joe Widner, a long time resident of Huntsville, TX. passed away February 29, 2012 surrounded by his family in Huntsville, TX. He was 85 years old. He was Born April 12, 1926 in Buckholtz, TX. Mr. Widner retired from the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO), after 38 years and 1 day of service. When He began work as a bus driver it was called the Houston Transit. Served during WWII for the US Army and has been in the Huntsville community since 1972. He is survived by 5 sons; Martin Joe and his wife Bobby Widner, Milton Curtis and his wife Sharon Widner, Stephen Thomas and his wife Teena Widner, James Paul Widner and Clint Matthew and his wife Stacey Widner. His brother; Emil and his wife Charlotte Widner. Half-sisters Ruth Fair and Annie Jackson, sister-in-law Annie Widner. 13 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and step-mother Henry and Pearl Widner and his Mother and step-father Marie and J.R. Russell. 2 brothers; Rudolph and Bill Widner.
Visitation will be held Friday March 2, 2012 at Brooke Funeral Home from 6-8 PM in the Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday March 3, 2012 at the Brooke Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Dodge City Cemetery.
The man that set the standards high & can be reached by no other, the man that can never be replaced by anyone, the man that could do anything & in our eyes did no wrong, the man that would teach us the difference in a "need" & "want" but gave either way, the man that made life seem simple-slow-happy. We selfishly miss him while knowing he is in a better place!
