Glen Henry ‘Red’ Morton
Glen “Red” Morton, of Richards, passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in Navasota. He was 62 years old. Glen was born to Gene and Mary Morton on Sept. 12, 1944, in San Antonio at Kelly AFB.
Active throughout his life, Glen loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Whether it was fishing, hunting, camping or traveling he enjoyed life and if you had time to listen he always had a story to share, usually something historical. He loved history, especially Civil War History.
Glen enjoyed his work. He retired from TDCJ as a Maintenance Supervisor with over 27 and a half years service. He spent six years as General Manager of the Riverside Water Supply and six more years as Maintenance Supervisor with Geo Group in Cleveland. Besides work Glen was a member of the NWTF Sam Houston Chapter and also was a Charter Member of the Westway Baptist Church.
Glen leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Carol (Kay) Morton; son William Albritton and wife Diane of Indian Trail, North Carolina; son, Robert Morton and wife Conni of Huntsville, Texas; sister, Mary Gustive and husband Jim of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren Missy Albritton, Cody Albritton, Cady Morton, Riley Morton and Cassie Macko. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins
Glen was met in Heaven by these special people that touched these families’ lives. Baby daughter, Kelly Jean Morton; parents, Gene and Mary Morton; sister, Ernestine Knaff; brother, David Q. Morton and father-in-law and friend, J.M. Harris.
Services for Glen will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at the Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at 3 p.m. at the Younger Cemetery in Silver City. Visitation will be throughout the day Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, with the family to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. that evening at the Huntsville Funeral Home. At Glen’s request casual dress only, please no coats and ties. Pastor Tommy Haley will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Jordan, Don Costilow, Lester Beaird, Robert Earl Autery, Gerald Hightower and Bud Idom. Honorary Pallbearers are to be J.T. McBride and the Westway Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class.

Billy Jim Phillips
Billy Jim Phillips, 77, born June 22, 1929, passed away Oct. 16, 2006, in Conroe.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct.19, 2006, at Old Waverly Cemetery, in New Waverly.
Visitation for Mr. Phillips will be throughout the day on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Huntsville Funeral Home with the family receiving guests from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of the usual floral remembrances, the family has requested contributions be made to the Waverly Cemetery Association Rt. 1, Box 86 New Waverly, TX 77358.

Billy Jim Phillips
Billy Jim Phillips, 77, born June 22, 1929, in Grimes County to Jewel Bishop and Ed Phillips, passed away Oct. 16, 2006, in Conroe.
Mr. Phillips served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Jim was also a farmer, rancher, cattleman, and bulldozer contractor. He was a member of First Baptist Church in New Waverly.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Phillips of New Waverly; son, Jimmy Phillips of New Waverly; daughters, Terry Slattery and husband Herb of Ft. Worth; and Lori Hannes and husband Matt of Huntsville; and grandson, John Logan of Huntsville.
He is also survived by his sisters, Florence Montgomery of Madisonville. Bonnie of College Station, Georgia-Bell Williams of Fredericksburg, Shirley Skalicky of Oklahoma and brother, Walton Phillips of Magnolia.
Graveside services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 11 a.m. today at Old Waverly Cemetery in New Waverly with John Alexander and Gene Marion officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Elmore Lewis, Julius Risinger, John Browder, John Logan, Fred Hoot, Joe Skalick, Bo McMurough and Walton Phillips.

James Arnold Matthews
Mr. James Arnold Matthews, 79, born Jan. 5, 1927, in Port Neches to Emily Griffith and Floyd Matthews, passed away Oct. 14, 2006, in Huntsville. Arnold loved the outdoors, he loved his family dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris Maples Matthews.
Arnold is survived by daughters, Frieda Holland and husband, Chad, and Dianne King and husband, Larry; sons, James R. Matthews and wife, Trish, and John Maples and wife, Diane, and Arch Maples and wife, Winkie; grandchildren, Mandie LeAnn Matthews, Ashly Holland, Larry King Jr. and wife, Kay, David Lance King, Lori Maples, Staci Prelli and husband, Joey, Jodi Maples, Jay Maples and wife, Leslie, and Jarod Maples; great-grandchildren, Kaci Taylor King, Kori Nicole King, Jacey Gail Maples, Jorey Rose Maples, Zoey Melody Prelli and Rori Madison Prelli.
Arnold is also survived by sisters, Cecile Edwards, Nola Mae Reneau and husband, J.W., and Ellen Lightfoot and husband, Leo; brother, Floyd C. Matthews and wife, Sue; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Matthews was Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Huntsville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 18, 2006, at Northside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reagan Cooksey officiating. Interment will follow at Latexo Cemetery in Latexo at 3 p.m.

Fern McWilliams
Fern McWilliams, 94 years old, died early Saturday in Huntsville. She was born in Georgetown, Texas, on July 7, 1912. She attended The University of Texas. Fern worked in furniture and jewelry sales in Baytown, Texas, while raising her family and later moved to San Antonio. She had lived in Huntsville since January.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Neual and grandson, Jon McWilliams. Survivors include daughter, Linda McWilliams Krystyniak and husband, Frank, of Huntsville; son, Steve McWilliams and wife, Nancy, of Atlanta, GA. and son, Richard McWilliams and wife, Terri, of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Stacey Triesch and husband, Bobby, of Atlanta; grandson, John Krystyniak of Spring; granddaughter, Karol Smith and husband, Judson, of Tyler and granddaughter, Lindsay McWilliams of Dayton; great-grandchildren, Avery and Camilla Triesch of Atlanta and Lucy Smith of Tyler and sister-in-law, Jean McWilliams of San Antonio.
A family memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
Dale Ralph Wade
Executive Producer of World Christian Broadcasting
Dale Ralph Wade, 62 of Franklin, Tenn. passed away Oct. 10, 2006, at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital. He is survived by wife, Patricia Ward; sons, Steven Dale and Kristin Ward and Thomas Eldred and Sherry Ward; daughter, Stefani Gail Ward; brother, James ward; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Karissa Lea and Christopher Dale Ward.
Dale was the Executive Producer of World Christian Broadcasting and a member of Woodmont Hills Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with funeral services to be conducted at 7 p.m. at the Woodmont Hills Church of Christ, 3710 Franklin Pike, Nashville, Tenn., 37204, with James Vandiver and Gayle Crowe officiating. Active Pallbearers, Family and Friends. Honorary Pallbearers, Staff of World Christian Broadcasting. Interment will be held at Williamson Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services are pending for Ms. Daisy Perry, 99 of Huntsville. Ms. Perry passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, in the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Cox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
B. C. Ferrell
Funeral services for Buford Crandell “B.C.” Ferrell, 75, of Henderson will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at the Little Flock Baptist Church, 14206 W. FM 968, with Bro. Jimmie Ferrell and other ministers officiating, under the direction of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road. Mr. Ferrell passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, in a Longview hospital.
Mr. Ferrell was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Wilmont, Ark. to James Hubert and Viola Bell Hill Ferrell. He was a contractor for Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T. Mr. Ferrell was a member of the Tatum Holiness Church, Pythian Lodge and Hallsville Lions Club. He was Precinct #3 Harrison County Commissioner from 1976 to 1980 and had been a longtime Longview resident.

Jolonda Love Miller
Jo Miller, a beloved mother and grandmother, died at her home in Kyle, Texas on Oct. 5, 2006, following a long illness due to cancer of the colon.
Jo was born to Roy and Edna Love on March 27, 1945, in Waxahachie, Texas. She married Sherrill Miller on July 7, 1965. Sherrill preceded her in death on July 6, 1973, in a boating accident at Lake Livingston.
Jo received her BA from The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and a Master’s Degree in English from Sam Houston State University. She worked as a medical records coder at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos at the time of her death. Jo was also the author of the book You Can Become Whole Again: A Guide to Healing for the Christian in Grief.
Jo is survived by her son, Rob Miller and his wife Lori; daughter, Debbie Miller and her husband Rob Curtis; very special friend Barbara Swift; one grandson, Joshua Miller; brother W.D. Love and his wife Marilyn; sister Barbara Burke and her husband Jerry; mother-in-law Mae Miller; sister-in-law Linda Wuensche and her husband Richard; three nieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. The family also wishes to thank Drs. Moore, Freiha, Kilbourn, and Duran, plus all of the direct care staff at Central Texas Medical Center and CTMC Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness given to Jo and her family.
Memorial services will be held in San Marcos at the Central Texas Medical Center chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. and in Huntsville at First Christian Church on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m.
