Conway Hubert Gilstrap
Conway Hubert Gilstrap, 89, known to his family and friends always as Sam, was born on November 15, 1911 in Ragley, Texas, in Panola County, died April 20, 2001 in Huntsville, Texas, Walker County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conway Hardy and Noonie Plowman Gilstrap, three brothers, three sisters, an infant daughter, and his wife of sixty four years, Hazel Hillin Gilstrap.
Sam Gilstrap worked for Brown and Root Construction many years before coming to Huntsville in 1949 to accept a job on the team to rebuild and update the state prison system under the direction of O.B. Ellis. He retired from the state in the early 1970's and for the next ten years was involved in several business ventures in Huntsville. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Forrest Lodge #19.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, April 22, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at the Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cecil McKee officiating. He will be buried beside his wife in Oakwood Cemetery with services conducted by Forrest Lodge #19.
He is survived by his two daughters, Anita G. Olmstead and Deanna G. Gideon of Huntsville; six grandsons, Robert C. Olmstead, Shreveport, Louisiana, Tim A. Olmstead, Houston, Texas, Mark W. Olmstead, Maderia Beach, Florida, Gene Skidmore, Austin, Texas, Michael Skidmore and Brett Skidmore, Huntsville, Texas, and one granddaughter, Sabrina S. Hamilton, Bullard, Texas; thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Ford, Marshall, Texas.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandson-in-law R.W. Hamilton.
Visitation with friends was Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Huntsville Funeral Home.

Jammie Carol Payne Benefield
Mrs. Jammie Carol Benefield passed away August 9, 2001 at her residence. She was born on June 24, 1966, in Shreveport, LA. She worked at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital as a nurse aide for the past 6 months and loved to croquet and do needlework. Jammie spent a lot of time outdoors and attended White Rock Baptist Church in San Augustine, TX.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Benefield; children, Phillip, Joseph, Zachery and Travis Benefield; parents, James L. and Elnora Payne; brothers, Jeffery Lynn and James Michael Payne.
Services were held at Faith Tabernacle New Testament Church, 4901 Pine Hill Rd., Shreveport, on Monday, August 13, 2001, at 10:00 A.M. Officiating the service was Dr. Shelton Young of Faith Tabernacle Church. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Mooringsport.

Alice Susanna Hooper
Funeral services for Alice Susanna Hooper, 73, of Huntsville are set for Sunday, August 19, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mayes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Aarron Hooper, David Hooper, Brian Hooper, Steve Hooper, David Reay, and Mike Vordenbaum.
Mrs. Hooper, a housewife and homemaker, was born March 10, 1928 in Maynard, Iowa and passed away August 16, 2001 in Huntsville.
Survivors include husband of 50 years, Claude Hooper of Huntsville; daughter and husband, Sharon and David Reay of Randalia, Iowa; daughter and husband, Karen and Mike Vordenbaum of Pasadena,TX; son and wife, Aarron and Ginny Hooper of Huntsville, TX; son and wife David and Bonnie Hooper of Crockett, TX; son and wife Brian and Tracie Hooper of Clear Lake, TX; son and wife, Steve and Sonya Hooper of Alvin, TX; 11 grandchildren; sister, Evalyn Kolmorgan of Roscommon, Michigan; and numerous other family members.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Family will receive guests from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday with Mrs. Hooper lying in state throughout the day Saturday.

Graveside services for Mary Frances Stutts-Vinson, 71, of Huntsville, TX are set for Monday, February 12, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at McAdams Cemetery with Perry Barnes officiating under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stutts-Vinson, a cashier, was born April 20, 1929, in Keithville, LA and passed away February 9, 2001, in Huntsville, TX. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Locklin of Louisiana; daughter, Dorothy Reed of Killeen, TX; daughter, Dell Simon of Houston, TX; daughter, Sandra Countryman of Huntsville, TX; 10 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Kerri Dawn Stovall Parks, 42, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at McCombs Funeral Home, Jackson, Mo. with interment to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland. Kerri Dawn Stovall Parks passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. She was born Oct. 7, 1959, at Cape Girardeau, daughter of Earl W. Stovall Jr. and LaFern Morton (Stovall) Cockrell. She and Dr. Christopher Parks of Huntsville were married Aug. 29, 1998.
Loving survivors include her husband of Huntsville; her mother, LaFern Cockrell of Jefferson City; father and stepmother, Earl W. and Verna Stovall of Jackson; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Donna Stovall of Jefferson City; stepbrother, Allen Farmer of Valley Center, Calif.; stepsister and brother-in-law, Angie and Tim Burr of Jackson; nephew, Logan Stovall of Rolla, Mo. and niece, Erin Stovall of Jefferson City.
Kerri was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Huntsville.

Jeff Haynie
Jeff Haynie, born Feb. 7, 1925, died Saturday Oct. 5, 2002 after
a long and courageous struggle with heart disease. Mr. Haynie was born in Grimes County, Texas and resided in Navasota since 1955. At age 18, he entered military service during World War II and served almost three years; 18 months of which was in the European Theater with the combat engineers. He received the Bronze Star Medal for valor under enemy fire while the allies were conquering Germany in 1945. Prior to military service, he attended John Tarleton at Stephenville, Texas and after the war graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
When the New York Life Insurance Co. re-entered Texas in 1948, he was one of their first agents and later became the assistant manager of the Houston office. Mr. Haynie returned to Grimes County and continued the family heritage of ranching. Some of the land having been continuously operated in the Haynie family since 1855. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Warren Haynie.
Mr. Haynie is survived by his three children and five grandchildren.
Son, Tom Haynie and his wife Susie of Navasota, and their children T.J. and LeeAnn; daughter, Molly Doughtie and her husband Tony of Huntsville, and their daughter Ashley; daughter, Sally Bullock and her husband Rich of Houston and their two children Rhett and Randy.
Services for Mr. Haynie will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Oct. 8, 2002, at The First United Methodist Church in Navasota with Rev. Ross Poteet officiating. Interment follows in Richards Fairview Cemetery.

Dorothy Love Wood Partin
Funeral services for Dorothy Love Wood Partin, 67, of Porter, are set for Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Farris Cemetery.
Partin was born May 19, 1935, in Walker County, and died Nov. 27, 2002, in Houston.
Partin is survived by her husband, Benny Partin, of Porter; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Debbie Wood, of Bryan; son, Perry Wood, of Huntsville; daughter Janice Wood, of Humble; granddaughter Kathryn Wood Sheppard, of San Marcos; granddaughter, Ellen Wood, of Summerville; granddaughter Tessa Bryant, of The Woodlands; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Sheppard, of San Marcos; great-grandson, Alton Love; sisters Molly Sylvester, Audrey Mayfield and Ruby Holder; brothers Wayne Love, Lloyd Love, Jimmy Love, Butch love, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Love; mother, Georgia Love; brothers Lanny Love, G.D. Love and Weldon Love; and husband, Georgie Wood.
Gayle Traweek
Funeral services for Gayle Traweek, 83, of Huntsville, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at the Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Goodson will officiate, and burial will be at 4 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery located outside of Nacogdoches, Texas.
Mr. Traweek will lie in state throughout the day today, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers are Michael Morris, Stephen Traweek, John Zulim, Richard Carter, Evan Carter and Scott Burkett.
An Army Air Force veteran who served in World War II, Mr. Traweek was a retired sales representative for industrial parts. He was born Jan. 30, 1920 in Flynn, Texas and passed away April 12, 2003 in Pasadena.
Survivors include his wife, Vertie Traweek; son, Gary Traweek; daughter, Kathy Zulim; son and wife, Jerry and Cathy Traweek; stepdaughter, Wander Carter; stepsons, Terry Evans and Alan Evans; granddaughters, Robbie Ward, Tandy Traweek and Jennifer Jones; grandsons, Ty Zulim, John Zulim, Michael Morris and Stephen Traweek; step-granddaughter, Shannon Burkett; step-grandson, Evan Carter; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Isaac, a retired farmer, was a member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church. He was born April 27, 1916 in Walker County and passed away Feb. 15, 2003 in Walker County.
He is survived by his wife, Murdia Mae Isaac of Shiro; son, Rev. Andrew Isaac of Huntsville; brother, Henry Isaac of Huntsville; sister, Cornelia Hunter of Huntsville; one daughter-in-law; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; 24 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Bertha Owens Craft, 95, of Huntsville, will be held at noon Thursday, June 19, 2003, at First Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Williams and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. V.A. Haynes will officiate, and burial will be at Galilee Cemetery.

A retired receptionist at Sam Houston State University, Mrs. Craft was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, the Mission Society, Youth Department and Finance Department. She was born July 27, 1907 in Grimes County and passed away June 12, 2003 in Walker County.
Mrs. Craft will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. today at Williams and Sons Funeral Home, 205 Highway 30 East.
She is survived by daughters, Blandene Wilson of Los Angeles, Calif. and Edrene Taylor of Dallas; sisters, Herma Owens Johnson, Eddie Mae Preuitt and Iris Kennedy all of Huntsville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
