Marie Louise Lynch Underwood
Marie Louise Lynch Underwood (Mrs. Warren D.) went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, Feb. 17, 2003, at her home in New Waverly. Mrs. Underwood was born April 13, 1916 near Sweetwater, Texas to Harriett Pearl Lynch and John Wesley Lynch. She came to New Waverly in 1936 to teach school, where she met and married Warren Underwood. She taught in the New Waverly Independent School District for 30 years. She later taught at Job Corp, New Waverly and Windham ISD until her retirement in 1978.
Mrs. Underwood was an active member of First Baptist Church, New Waverly for more than 60 years and taught Sunday school classes for 40 of those years. She also volunteered for approximately 13 years with the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was among the founders of the New Waverly Public Library. In addition, she donated a vast number of her private collection of books to the library. She received her bachelor's degree from Howard Payne University and her Master of Education degree from Sam Houston State Teachers College (Sam Houston State University).
Clementia Quintero
Funeral services for Clementia Quintero, 63, of Huntsville, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at St. Thomas Catholic Church under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home. Father Stephen Payne will officiate, and burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Augustine Santos, Luis Ray Santos, Jose Santos, Johnny Santos, Andrew Lopez and Mark Lopez.
Julia Mae Pursley Chappell
Funeral services for Julia Mae Pursley "Gangy" Chappell, 93, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in the Chapel of the Angels at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. James Dawson will officiate, and interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
Julia Mae Pursley Chappell was born Aug. 23, 1909 to Shelton and Myrtle Adams Pursley in New Waverly, Texas and passed away Feb. 17, 2003 in Conroe. She was a member of Rosewand Chapter No. 927 Order of Eastern Star.
Wayne Anthony Hodge
Graveside services for Wayne Anthony Hodge, 33, of Trinity, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Trinity Community Cemetery under the direction of Williams and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Collie Baker, James Bostic, Anthony Griffin, William Hill, George Holloman and DeMarco Marshall.
T.L. Gaines
T.L. Gaines, born March 14, 1932 in Huntsville, passed away at a Houston hospital on April 2, 2003 at age 71. He was an important member of the Oakland Baptist Church of Houston. T.L. graduated in 1957 from Sam Houston State and served in the Army during the Korean War.
T.L. rose from poverty in the early '70s and became the owner of a chain of carpet stores in Houston. He made many friends along the way. T.L. was kindhearted, honest and fun-loving. He will be greatly missed for his jolly spirit, positive outlook and challenging domino game.
Robert Frank Cone
Robert Frank Cone, 82, was born May 20, 1920 and passed away at home April 2, 2003 after a lengthy illness. He had a full and active life prior to his illness. A bombardier pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, he served on the Grand Prairie City Council. Prior to his retirement, he was a Ford dealer in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Grand Prairie, where he taught adult Sunday School, a 32 degree member of the Sam R. Hamilton Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite, and Grand Prairie Rotary Club.
In 1998 he moved to Phelps, Texas and became an active member at Phelps Methodist Church. He loved to hunt and fish and passed on the love of the sport to each of his grandchildren. His passion was his family. He was a loving husband, Daddy and PawPaw. Frank touched many lives in his lifetime.

Funeral services for Lillard Elton Williams, 90, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Williams will lie in state throughout the day Thursday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services for Gene Autry Goins, 67, of Birmingham, Ala. and formerly of Huntsville, will be held at noon, Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville, Ala. with Rev. Dalton Styes and Dr. Kay Mutert officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
