AUGUST DELUCIA
August DeLucia, 62, passed away, July 22, 2003.
Born in Saginaw, MI. on April 10, 1941 the son of August and Vena DeLucia. August was in the US Army from 1959 to 1980. Retiring in 1981, as 1st Sgt. E8. He volunteered for special forces, Green Beret 1st. Special Forces in 1959. Later Special forces in Viet Nam, serving 6 tours. He received Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Combat Medical Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal. August also was a body guard for celebrities such as Bob Hope, Raymond Burr, John Wayne and Martha Ray for the U.S.O. He served as an instructor for the jump school in Okinawa. He belonged to the 9135M, Medical Specialist.
After retiring he worked for Becon Construction as a safety coordinator for 14 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his family and enjoyed Barbequeing in the back yard.
August was predeceased by his father and mother, August and Vena DeLucia and one sister, Joyce Kain.
August is survived by his wife of 36 years, Hatsuko DeLucia of Dayton; three sons, Hideki DeLucia and wife Debbie of Seabrook; Gary DeLucia and wife Suzette of Baytown; August DeLucia, Jr. and wife Tammy of Baytown; brother, Gary E. DeLucia and wife Norma of Houghton Lake, Mi.; three grandchildren, Christopher DeLucia of Dayton; Tiffany Enck and Michael Enck of Baytown.
Visitation will be from 5 - 9 p.m. today, July 25, 2003 at Sterling White Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Sterling White Chapel.
Burial will follow at White Cemetery.

REFUGIO STEVEN (JUNIOR) MINJARES
Refugio Steven (Junior) Minjares, III, 52, of Houston passed away, Thursday, July 24, 2003 in a Houston hospital after a brief but courageous battle with liver cancer.
He was born in Houston on November 24, 1952 to Ruben and Carmen Perez Minjares. He was an accomplished actor, horseman and stunt-rider and appeared in many movies including Rambo III, Glory and The Alamo-Price for Freedom. He graduated from Milby High School and attended Southwest Texas State where he was on the rodeo team. He married Linda Acklen in his childhood home in 1975. While working for Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, he met and went to work for Willie Nelson promoting concerts and public relations. In the early 1980s, Junior joined the professional rodeo circuit, riding saddle-bronco. After his rodeo days he became the captain of Terry’s Texas Rangers, a group that performed stunt work for movies and reenactments across the U.S.
He is survived by his daughters, Aslynn Minjares of Tucson, Arz.; Candace Minjares of Blanco, Tx.; their mother, Linda Minjares and his daughter, Bobbee Minjares, parents, Ruben and Carmen Minjares of Houston; sisters, Carmen Lee Grove and husband Mark of Troy, Tx; Jo Ann Gay and husband Steve of Wimberly, Tx.; Mary Cole and husband Jesse of Mont Belvieu, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. today, July 25, 2003 at the chapel of L.A. Crespo Funeral Directors.
Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 827 Sheldon Rd.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
He was a teller of tells with a dynamic and charismatic personality that knew no strangers. Junior will always be remembered as the statuesque figure fearlessly leading his troops into battle and will be missed by all who know and loved him.

Rosie Carouthers, 73, of Mont Belvieu, passed away, Thursday, July 24, 203 at a Channelview hospital. Services are pending at Navarre Funeral Home, Baytown, 281-422-8111.
R.B. JACOBS
R. B. Jacobs, 82, of Baytown, was born July 8, 1921 in Goose Creek and passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in a local hospital.
He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he taught the couples Sunday school class for over 20 years. He retired from Exxon Baytown Refinery with 40 years of service, during which he missed only one day of work. A W.W.II veteran, he retired at the rank of Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, traveler, golfer, bridge player, and photographer. He was awarded a Master of Photography, was a life member of the Professional Photographers of America, Inc., and a co-founder of the Society of Photographers in Industry in Houston.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, July 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Joe Tate and Rev. Jim Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be R. N. “Hottie” Bailey, John Scott, Patrick Dees, Gary Kimmey, Randy Kimmey, and Kelly Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Jacobs of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law, Mark E. and Christine Jacobs of Orange, CA; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Kay and Ed Giese of Fort Collins, CO and Janice Marie Henderson of Clear Lake; sisters, Ruth Colburn of Baytown, Alice Kimmey of Baytown, and Betty Jo Harrison of Baytown; brother, Albert L. Jacobs of Baytown; and grandchildren, Patrick Dees, Sean Henderson, Joy Jacobs, Mary Catherine Jacobs, and Kim Giese.
In lieu of usual remembrances contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Baytown Historical Society.

CLARENCE ELBERT COTTON
Clarence Elbert Cotton, 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in a local hospital.
Clarence was a resident of Crosby for over 35 years and since 1995 he was a resident of Pasadena. He worked for Pipe Fitters Union 211 for 35 years, served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was referred to as the wheel because he always kept the planes going.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Cotton, son, Ricky Cotton, a granddaughter and a daughter-in-law, Jody Cotton.
He is survived by two sisters, Johnnie Lois Little of Baytown; Bertha McShan of Dayton; brother, Frank Cotton of West Columbia and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
For those desiring, memorials may be given to a charity of one’s choice.

ALICE SCHMADI RIPKOWSKI
Alice Schmadl Ripkowski went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion S. Ripkowski, her parents, Felicifa Gaetz Schmadl and Louis Schmadl, also three sisters, Gertrude Smith, Rose Kingsbury and Tillie Womack and a son-in-law, Butch Sawyer.
She is survived by four children, Judy and husband Don Ocker, Sandra Sawyer and fiancé Mike Anderson, Richard Ripkowski, Charles and wife Peggye Ripkowski. She has 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Alice and Marion were among the founders at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, having lived in Highlands for 60+ years. She also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of American, the Alter Society, The St. Judes Dudes and the Highlands Young at Heart.
Alice was an accomplished seamstress and designer of clothes. She worked for the Highlands Fabric Shop for Doris Hall for 25 years. Alice was devoted to the Lord, the church and her children and family.
Visitation will be from 5 - 9 p.m. with a rosary at Sterling White Funeral Home at 7 p.m., today, July 24, 2003.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003 at St. Judes Catholic Church with Father John A. Zabelskas officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Michael Sawyer, Darrell Ripkowski, Kris Speights, Rob Ocker, Shannon Smith, Mike Waites, Eric Hernandez and Richard Barrow.

IRENE MILDRED KING
Irene Mildred King, 81, of Anahuac, passed away, Tuesday night, July 22, 2003 in a Baytown hospital.
Irene was born in Anahuac on June 7, 1922 to parents, Robert Watson and Gladys Phelps. She was raised in Anahuac and graduated from Anahuac High School in 1939. A lifetime resident, she work as a florist and operated King’s Flower Shop in Anahuac for 10 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac as well as the Texas State Florist Association and the Allied Florists of Houston. She was very active in the Girl Scouts of America and the Anahuac Emergency Corps Ladies Auxiliary. She was instrumental in the purchase of Anahuac’s first ambulance as she helped with planning and fund-raisers. She loved to camp, fish, and work in her garden. She will be remembered as a loving and helpful person who would jump to the aid of anyone in need.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Mary Kocijan, Dorothy Bruger, Thelma Silva and Florence McWhorter and brothers, Harley, Howard and James Watson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Earnest King of Anahuac; her daughters, Jeanette Smith and husband Donnie of Anahuac; Debbie Hughes and her late husband Clyde of Baytown; son, Walter Richard King and wife Linda of Rio Frio, Tx; her sister, Beatrice Clymer of Anahuac; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 - 9 p.m. today, July 24, 2003 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac with Rev. Wayne Ilargraves officiating.
