Hazel Stephens
Services and interment for Hazel Ursel Stephens were held Jan. 14, 2006, at Laurel land Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Dallas.
Stephens was born July 11, 1925, in McCurtain County, Okla., and died Jan. 11, 2006, in a Tyler hospital.
She was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Effie Jones; a sister, Opal Thompson; an infant son, Ronald and husband, Eugene.
She was a member of Aley United Methodist Church in Seven Points.
Survivors include her son, Donald Stephens, Fairbanks, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Bill Crawford, Granbury; granddaughters, Lisa Craig and husband Brent; Karen Crawford, Jackye Stephens, Linda Stephens; grandson, Michael Crawford and wife Toni; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Jarred, Ben and Erin; sisters, Letha Harrod, Laverne Morris and husband, Barney and Irene Pickens and husband Kyle; many nieces and nephews.

Lora Mae Campbell
Services for Lora Mae Campbell, Kaufman, were held Jan. 16, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church of Kaufman with the Rev. David Carr officiating. Interment followed in Kaufman Cemetery under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.
Campbell was born May 24, 1914, in Eustace to Edward and Virginia Roberson Scarbrough and died Jan. 12, 2006, in a Kaufman hospital.
She was raised in the Cottonwood Community and moved to Kaufman in 1937. She married Herschel Campbell in Eustace Sept. 20, 1933. They opened Campbell's Jewelry in 1950. She retired in 1982.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kaufman, the B&PW Club and the Kaufman Garden Club. She was also a volunteer for the Kaufman Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Herschel Campbell, Kaufman; daughters, Louise Garner, Ovilla; Virginia Thomas, Dallas; Patsy Trail, Kaufman; and Carole Aga, Kaufman; sister, Eddie Mae Scarbrough, Orange; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Bobby Bolin
Services for Bobby Bolin, 73, Mabank, were held Jan. 19, 2006, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with Bro. Eric Graham officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Bolin was born Nov. 10, 1932, in McKinney and died Jan. 17, 2006, in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Berry and parents, S.W. and Annie Mae Bolin.
He retired from Bolin Construction and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Previously of Ennis, he had lived in Mabank for 37 years.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Bolin, Mabank; sons, Calvin Bolin, Mabank; Bobby Carl and Maryland Bolin, Mabank; and Larry and Brenda Hood, Mesquite; daughters, Mary Bell, Eustace; Sabrina Kavanaugh, Canton; Cindy Bolin, Gun Barrel City; brother, Cecil Bolin, Waxahachie; sisters, Betty Evans, Denton; and Ruth Carroll, Arlington; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steven Bell, Justin Bell, Bobby Bolin, Bryan Bolin, Jimmy Sutton and Skip Cobb.

Steve Torres
Steve Torres was born March 30, 1945, in Kemp to Nicholas and Amelia Flores Torres. Steve passed away Jan. 18, 2006, in Kaufman.
Torres was raised in Kemp and graduated from Kemp Schools.
In 1962, he moved to Kaufman and worked for Paine Webber for more than 30 years in Dallas.
He was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Kaufman.
Survivors include his sons: Steve Torres Jr. of Kaufman; and Johnny Gomez of Fort Worth; daughters, Cindy Caldwell of Kaufman; Lisa Yager of Canton; Ericka Gomez of Kaufman; Marisa Garmon of Kaufman; Anna Torres of Kaufman; and Tricia Gomez of California; brothers, Ynes Torres of Kaufman; Nick Torres of Seagoville; Manuel Torres of Garland; and Felix Palacios of Kaufman; sisters, Carmen Gonzales and Mary Torres both of Kaufman; 16 grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited at St. Ann Catholic Church Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, and Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Ann Catholic Church Jan. 21, 2006.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.

Mittie Jones
Graveside services for Mittie Myrtle McCann Jones, were held at Elm Grove Cemetery near Mabank, Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, with her eldest grandson, Daymond Jones, officiating, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Jones was born Feb. 21, 1922, to Hugh and Sarah McCann.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Sarah McCann; husband, Welton (Jack) Jones; daughter, Pamela Jones Wells; granddaughter, Cassadi Jones Escobedo; grandson, Troy Kirkpatrick; and six siblings.
Those who knew Mittie would say she was a "tough and determined old broad." She was still mowing her yard, tilling her flower garden and raising cane right up to weeks of her death.
For many decades she would plant a large vegetable garden and share her bounty with family, church members and neighbors.
She loved going to church and reading her Bible. She had been looking forward to going home to be with her Lord for quite some time. She will be missed by her loved ones.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby Jones and wife Velma; Jimmy Jones and wife Kay; son-in-law, Elvis Wells; grandsons, Daymond Jones and wife Teresa; Michael Jones; Jimmy Jones Jr.; Billie Clark; and Brian Kirkpatrick; step-grandchildren, Angelia Hammer and Jennifer Messick; great-grandchildren, Marisca Escobedo; Marina Jones, Delaney Worth, Casson and Elexis Jones; Zachery Kirkpatrick; stepgreat-grandchildren, Ethan and Amber McCall; brother, Hugh McCann Jr. and wife Frances; sister, Dorothy Guinn; sister-in-law, Veda Blair; numerous nieces and nephews.

Terrance Allen Blalock
Graveside services were held for Terrance Allen Blalock, 63, Kemp, Sept. 27, 2006, at the Shiloh Cemetery in Kaufman County, near Kemp, with Rev. Don Bell officiating, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Blalock was born in Dallas County, Nov. 9, 1942, son of Birch Barrett Blalock and Tince Elston Blalock.
He died Sept. 24, 2006, in Kemp.
Blalock was a member of the Church of Christ, and he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by a brother and a sister.

Billie Jo Slade
Billie Jo Haney Slade, 74, of Mabank, began dancing with the angels in the early morning hours, Sept. 22, 2006.
Slade was born in Dallas, April 4, 1932.
Her mother, Rachal Flowers Haney; father, Richard Fowler Haney; and sister, Bobbie Yvonne Pullen, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Gene Davis Slade; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Jean and Randall Nelson Smith, and Deemie Jo and Dr. David Keith Naugle, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Gene Davis Slade II and Gae Hutson Slade; grandchildren, Jared Michael and Randall Blaine Smith, Courtney JoLee Shwadlenak, Lily Carlisle and Ava Jolee Slade; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Billie Jo and her husband Gene met as teenagers and fell in love roller skating at Fair Park.
They enjoyed life together for almost 57 years. They settled in Duncanville, where Billie Jo served and touched countless lives in the church, school and community.
Spending 40 years at Northside Baptist Church, Billie Jo led all with whom she served to the saving grace and love of Jesus Christ, for whom she was a shining example.
She was a Sunday School teacher, Training Union director, WMU leader, VBS teacher, GA and camp counselor, choir member, and nursing home volunteer.
As teacher aide and secretary of Byrd Junior High School in Duncanville ISD for 25 years, she was an impassioned champion of teachers, students, and parents (especially those in trouble).
She loved going to work every day and considered it her ministry to love all whom she served.
The Slades retired to Cedar Creek Lake in 1991, where she enjoyed serving at First Baptist Church of Malakoff, an active member and prayer partner of Grace Class.
She was also love and light to Cedar Creek Nursing Home and several senior centers in the area.
To be so sweet and gentle spirited, she was also very strong and determined, having survived breast cancer twice, and numerous serious life-threatening surgeries over the years.
She never lost her sense of humor or the ability to make people laugh. More importantly, she never lost her hope, nor her zeal and zest for sharing the hope and love of Jesus to all those who helped her through her difficult days.
All lives that came in contact with Billie Jo are now forever changed.
Services were held Sept. 25, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Malakoff.
Interment followed at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
The Reverend Ronny Yarber officiated at the services.

Anne Burley
Services for Anne Kathryn Burley, will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kaufman. Burial will follow in Ola Cemetery.
Burley was born Nov. 2, 1962, in Hillsboro, Wisc., to Linda Faulkner and stepfather Fred Faulkner, Wisc., and died in a car accident at 7:27 a.m. Feb. 8, 2006, in Mabank.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. We are better for knowing her. She will be loved and missed dearly for the rest of our lives. She was an idol in our lives that will never be forgotten.
Survivors include her fiance, Ricky Aslin, Tool; her mother, two brothers and one sister; 10 children and 18 grandchildren.

Bennie E. Woodrum
Services for Bennie E. Woodrum, Mabank, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at David Clayton and Sons Funeral Home, 200 West Center, Duncanville. Interment will be at a later date.
She was a member of the Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City and her legacy is one of joy, love, happiness, commitment, determination and service to everyone.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; daughter, Cindy; grandson, Manny Brock; brothers, Charles England of Cedar Hill; and David England of Canton; and sister, Dollie Switzer of Cedar Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Cherokee Home for Children, P.O. Box 295, Cherokee, TX 76832-9989.

Walter Ditzler
Services for Walter E. Ditzler, 83, Mabank, were held Feb. 13, 2006, at the Eustace First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James Howard officiating. Burial was in Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Ditzler was born April 4, 1922, in Shelbyville, Ill., and died Feb. 8, 2006, in Mabank.
He was a line supervisor for an auto manufacturer. Previously of Wisconsin, he had lived in the Mabank area since 1985, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Eustace First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald E. Ditzler and wife Dorothy, Friendship, Wisc.; Charles O. Ditzler and wife Sue, Silver Lake, Wisc.; daughters, Anna Mae Nash, Mabank; Wanda E. Silas and husband Andy, Janesville, Wisc.; Barb A. Davis and husband Joe, Twin Lakes, Wisc.; Faith A. Lopez and husband Tommy, Knosha, Wisc.; Hope A. Dougherty and husband John, Manitowishwater, Wisc.; sister, Dorothy Aggas, Hornbruck, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other family members.

Wanda Yates-Wood
Services for Wanda Gayle Yates-Wood were held Feb. 11, 2005, at Roselawn Chapel with interment following at Lee Cemetery under the direction of Roselawn Funeral home in Seagoville.
Yates-Wood was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Kaufman County and died Feb. 8, 2006.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Wood, Mesquite; daughters, Kimberly King and husband Eddie, Donalds S.C.; Rebecca Cartwright and husband James, Huron, Ohio; and Robin Wilkinson and husband Joda, Washington, Ga.; son, Michael Yates, Dalton, Ga.; stepson, Tommy Wood, Mesquite; grandchildren, Sierra, Jake, Carson, Adriel, Connor, Nicolette, Jordy, Christian, Cameron, Caleb and Sydnee; brother, Richard Tucker, Hawkins; sisters, Jessie Dalton, Trinidad; and Beverly Roberson, Mesquite; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
