Graveside services were held for George L. Harris, III, 53, Dallas, January 11, 2006, at the Brigham Cemetery in Campbell, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Services and interment were under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Harris was born April 20, 1952, in Dallas, to George Harris Jr. and Yvonne McWhirter Harris and died Jan. 6, 2006, in Dallas.
He lived in Dallas most of his life, and was of the Baptist faith. His parents, George and Yvonne Harris, and a brother, David Harris, preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, April Hibdon of Kemp and Rachel Covert of California; son, Dustin Harris of Garland; 5 grandsons, Brandon, Brent and Jake Hibdon, Dillion Harris and Nicholas Covert; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Lory Faye Schaapveld
Services for Lory Faye Schaapveld, 33, Gun Barrel City, were held under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Schaapveld was born April 24, 1972, in Henderson and died Jan. 5, 2006, in Gun Barrel City.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glen and Faye Schaapveld and grandparent, Darrell Foss.
Previously of Wylie, she had lived in the Gun Barrel City area for the past nine years. She owned and operated Supermutts Grooming in Mabank.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Linda and Wayne Rich, Wylie; father and stepmother, Larry and Kaye Schaapveld, Reno; sisters, Lisa Schaapveld, Wylie; Lacy and husband Ronnie Smith, Kaufman; nephew, Nathaniel Schaapveld, Wylie; grandmother, Colleen and Jim Norris, League City; several aunts and uncles.
Tammie S. Biggs-Ruiz
Services for Tammie S. Biggs-Ruiz, were held Jan. 12, 2006, in the Calvary Memorial Funeral Chapel in Dallas. Interment was in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.
Biggs-Ruiz was born May 8, 1964, in Longview to the late Richard Earl Biggs and Alva Mae Davis Biggs, and died Jan. 6, 2006, in Dallas.
Survivors include her sons, Christopher Biggs, U.S. Air Force stationed in Iceland; Michael Biggs, Mabank; and Francisco Ruiz, Dallas; daughter, Amanda Ruiz, Dallas; brother, Richard Biggs, Dallas; sister, Delois Terrell, Mabank; several nephews, and one great-niece.
Shirley Ann Sailor
Services for Shirley Ann Sailor, 67, Kaufman, were held Jan. 13, 2006, at Moorehead-Melton Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Ballard officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Sailor was born Dec. 3, 1938, in Dallas and died Jan. 8, 2006, in Kaufman.
She was a food service supervisor and lived most of her life in Eustace.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Eustace.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Evan Sailor, Frisco; son, Virgil Byers and wife, Susan, Mabank; sister, Doris Birdsong, Dekalb; brother, James Willard York, Eustace; Aunt Orrie, Cotter, Ark.; grandsons, Kasey Lynn Hudgens, Mabank; Paul Bartley; granddaughters, Emily Stephens, Mabank; and Sarah Byers, Mabank.
Betty Jean Shelton
Services for Betty Jean Shelton, Mabank, were held Jan. 12, 2006, at Point Funeral Home Chapel with Rodney Smith officiating. Burial was in Lone Star Cemetery in Point.
Shelton was born in Amory, Miss., to Esmond Truitt and Willerdean Lockhart Ritter and died Jan. 9, 2006, in ETMC, Athens. She was preceded in death by her mother Willerdean Lockhart Ritter and daughter, Angel McGill.
She was a waitress and Baptist by faith. She married James Shelton July 11, 1998, in Henderson County.
Survivors include her husband, James Shelton, Mabank; father, Esmond Truitt Ritter, Point; children, Hugh Eric McGill, Aaron McGilll and John McGill; grandchildren, Ericka McGill and Hugh Eric McGill Jr.; brother, Douglas Truitt Ritter, Point; and sister, Bonnie Faye Ovilla, Dallas.
Michael Brown
Michael Joe Brown, Gun Barrel City, died Jan. 13, 2006, in Tyler medical facilities. He was born May 27, 1950. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Brown.
He was loved and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Toni Brown; son, John Michael Brown, daughters, Dawn Maria Brown; and Crystal Gayle Brown; six grandchildren; stepgrandchildren, P.J. Wilson, Rebecca Wood and Danna Wilson; mother, Edna M. Brown; brother, James E. Brown, sister, Laura Jean Mitchell; sister, Kathy C. Plant; 16 nieces and nephews and many friends.
Sue Marshall

Marshall was born April 12, 1940, in Dallas to Ralph Melvin and Dorothy Elaine Marshall and died Jan. 16, 2006, in Malakoff.

Donnie Myers Harris
Services for Donnie Myers Harris, 86, Athens, were held Jan. 17, 2006, at the Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with John Adams officiating. Interment followed in the Ware Cemetery in Henderson County.
Harris was born Donnie Myers Burns in Kemp, April 22, 1919, to Franklin Jackson Burns and Viola Rachael Burns and died Jan. 14, 2006, in Athens.
Her parents, husband Odell C. Johnstone, daughter Bobbie Brewer, three sisters, and a brother preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Johnstone and wife Eva, Payne Springs; and Scott Johnstone and wife Ruth, Carrollton; five granddaughters; three grandsons; numerous great grandchildren; sister Doris Watson, Mabank; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Vivian Green
Services for Vivian V. Green, 84, Mabank, were held Jan. 14, 2006, in the First Assembly of God Church in Gun Barrel City, with the Rev. David Nottingham officiating. Interment followed in the Tool Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Green was born Vivian Vernell Pendleton in Wills Point, Dec. 21, 1921, daughter of the late Jack and Irene (Bass) Pendleton, and passed away Jan. 11, 2006, in Athens.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Gun Barrel City. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Ronald Patrick Green.
Survivors include her husband Ray Green Sr., Mabank; son, James Stewart, Dallas; daughter, Sandra Stewart Delcastillo, Riverside, Calif.; son, Ray Green Jr., Paris; son, Randy Green, Carnation, Wash.; son Rick Green and his wife Laura, Bellingham, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, J.C. Pendleton, Tool; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Virginia Bufkin
Services for Virginia Davis Bufkin, 83, Dallas, were held Jan. 14, 2006, at Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Bufkin was born July 24, 1922, in rural New Mexico and died Jan. 14, 2006, in Dallas.
She was an accountant. Previously of Payne Springs, she lived in Dallas for the past 15 years. She was a member of the Payne Springs United Methodist Church where she had been treasurer for 10 years.
She is survived by a son, Dick Bufkin.
Temple Dorough
Services for Temple Dorough, 90, Mabank, were held Jan. 16, 2006, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mickey Loftis officiating. Burial was in Kaufman Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Dorough was born June 25, 1915, in Kaufman and died Jan. 14, 2006, in Mabank. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Blanche Dorough; first wife, Maurine Dorough in 1957; wife, Daphne Dorough in 2002; granddaughter, Davie Ann; great-grandson, Carson Shaw; brother, William Thomas Dorough; and sister, Pauline Taylor.
He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Mabank Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from the City of Mabank in 1980. Previously of Kaufman, he had lived in Mabank for the past 59 years.
Survivors include his sons, Billy Jack Dorough and wife Jana, Kaufman; Donald Wayne Dorough and wife Sheila, Styx; David William Dorough and wife Joann, Kaufman; Bobby Jerrell Dorough and wife Peggy, Scurry; and Kenneth Wren Dorough and wife Vicki, Ennis; daughters, Jean Temple Myrick, Mabank; and Susan Kay Shaw and husband J.C., Kaufman; stepsons, James Bryan Williamson and wife Sharron, Azle; and Robert Lynn Willett and wife Linda, Seagoville; stepdaughters, Peggy Jean Holt, Canton; Anita Nell Holt, Mabank; and Marilyn Dee Mixon, Hutchins.
Pallbearers were Ricky Myrick, Gary Dorough, Mel Dorough, David Paul Dorough, Billy Jack Dorough Jr., Paul Wayne Dorough, Rusty Dorough and Randy Shaw.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Mabank Volunteer Fire Department.
Alfred Linville
Services for Alfred Jackson (Jack) Linville, 85, Athens were held Jan. 10, 2006, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glen Blackmon officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Linville was born May 22, 1920, in Maypearl and died Jan. 8, 2006, in Athens.
Previously of Cockrell Hill, he lived in Athens for the past four years. He was a retired salesman and veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He retired after 37 years with Enterprise, Inc. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mabank and American Legion Post Number 310 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 4376.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Linville, Athens; son, Thomas Linville and wife Lindee, Kemp; daughter, Jackie Cavanaugh, Garland; grandchildren, Leslie Cavanaugh Warren, Jeff Cavanaugh and wife Susan, Dancia McKinney, Cody Linville, Dana Davis and Billy Roundtree Jr.; great-grandchildren, Ryan Banks, Haley Ward, Savannah Warren, Amelia Warren and Emma Rose Warren.
Pallbearers were Lowell Templin, Hal Hensen, Bill White, Ron Kinsy and Severo Valvez.
Jack is already missed by a host of loving family members and many friends.
Eula Lugo
Services for Eula "Bert" Lugo, 73, Yucaipa, Calif., were held Jan. 14, 2006, at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Revs. Dub Henry and Bill McMullan officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Lugo was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Forestburg and died Jan. 8, 2006, in Yucaipa, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lugo in 2000.
She was a homemaker and member of the Kemp First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, David Lugo, Yucaipa, Calif.; and Greg Lugo, Hesperia, Calif.; daughter, Sharon Wagoner, Hesperia, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, John Barnett, Harold Barnett and Morse Barnett, all of Texas; sisters, Mary (Jody) Ruh, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; Sandy Robbins, Romoland, Calif.; Shelby Rohrbacker, Texas; and Hazel Lane, Texas.
Pallbearers were Justin Robbins, Jason Robbins, John Lee Barnett, Robin Lane, Mike Lane and Ben Lane.
Thelma Benker
Services for Thelma Benker, 89, Terrell, were held Jan. 15, 2006, in Payne Springs Cemetery with the Revs. Billy E. Hill III and Joshua Mitchell officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Benker was born Feb. 10, 1916, in Eustace and died Jan. 12, 2006, in Terrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Gettis Merideth; husbands, Lloyd Mullins, George Lattig and George Benker; and brother, Clyde Merideth.
She was an administration assistant and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
Previously of Payne Springs, she resided in Terrell since 1999. She retired from Bell Chemical Co. in 1978. She was of the Episcopalian faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice Faye Hill and husband Billy, Terrell; sister, Dorothy Shuffler, Kaufman; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
