Joyce Griffin Daniel
Services for Joyce Griffin Daniel, 76, of Kemp, were held Dec. 29, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Teague officiating.
Burial was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Daniel was born Mar. 22, 1928, in Phalba, and died Dec. 25, 2004.
She had been self employed. She was previously of Dallas and had been a resident of Kemp since 1982. She was a very kind and loving person. She and her husband, T.J., would have celebrated their wedding anniversary next month.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Otto Griffin; her mother, Floy May McCain; and her sister Sandra Nell Griffin.
Survivors include her husband, T.J. (Dan) Daniel of Kemp; sister, Jerrie Ditmars of Dallas; and brother, O.L. (Lowell) Griffin of Kemp; nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbears were Brian Ditmars, Rusty Ditmars, Todd Ditmars, Greg Griffin, Sandy Griffin and Ronnie Prestriedge.

Bobby Lynn Calder
Graveside services for Bobby Lynn Calder, 65, of Gun Barrel City, were held Dec. 12, 2004, at Woodside Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Austin officiating, and under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Calder was born Mar. 18, 1939, in Grand Saline, and passed away Dec. 9, 2004, in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Calder.
He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He had previously lived in Mesquite, but had lived in Gun Barrel City since 1988.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Faye (Gore) Calder of Gun Barrel City; two sons, Tony Lee Calder and wife, Kelly of Mabank, and Bobby Ray Calder and wife Karen of Athens; two daughters, Jana Deniese Hazelip and husband Dale of Kemp, and Kimberly Cook and husband Glen of Dickenson; 18 grandchildren, Amber Clark, Kristal Johnson, Bradley Calder, Brittany Calder, Tara Calder, Heather Calder, Kevin Hazelip, Christie Miller, Kelsey Due, Cameron Elder, Zachary Elder, Sydney Elder, Chelsey Clark, Chase Patrick Cook, Paige Cook, Emily Cook and Chase Coutrado; 5 great-grandchildren, Tristin Clark, Blake Hazelip, Kourtney Hazelip, Wade Miller and Lexi Miller; his mother, Lucille Calder of Grand Saline; brother, Danny Calder and wife Brenda of Grand Saline; nieces, nephews and other family members and a host of friends.

Check Owens
Services for Check Owens, 83, of Corsicana, were held Dec. 27, 2004, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana, with the Rev. Dan Rogers and the Rev. C. Dan Layne officiating.
Burial was at Younger Cemetery under the direction of Corley Funeral Home.
Owens was born July 25, 1921, in Blooming Grove, and passed away Dec. 25, 2004, in Corsicana.
He was a retired maintenance man at Dawson and Corsicana I.S.D. He served in the Army during World War Two.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Owens of Purdon; son and daughter-in-law, Earnest and Teresa Owens of Mabank; granddaughter and husband Kimberly and Greg Tullow of McKinney; grandson and wife David and Dani Owens of Mabank, great-granddaughter Breanna Tullos of McKinney; great-grandson, Brayton Owens of Mabank; sister, Virgie Summers of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia "Pat" Hill
Services for Patricia "Pat" Hill, 51, of Eustace, were held Dec. 27, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Woods officiating.
Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Hill was born July 17, 1953, in Dallas, and passed away Dec. 23, 2004, in Eustace.
She was a waitress. Previously of Mesquite, she had lived in Eustace for the past 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Anthony Powell Sr., and by her mother, Jane Elizabeth Lemons.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Hill of Eustace; son, Christopher and wife Autumn Cotton of Tyler; two daughters, Tamie Hill of Dallas and Audra Hill of Eustace; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Taelor, Taryn, Michael, and Kolbee; three brothers, Tony Powell of Fruitvale, Jim Gilbert of Forney, and John Gilbert of Mesquite; two sisters, Sandy Crook of Dallas and Angel Powell of Dallas; step-father, James Gilbert of Mt. Pleasant; nieces, nephews and other family members.

Lucy Bell Pelham
Graveside Services for Lucy Bell (Alphin) Pelham, 86, formerly of Mabank, were held Dec. 21, 2004, in Hale Center Cemetery with Dr. Carrol Green officiating.
Pelham passed away Dec. 19, 2004, in Hospitality House in Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Pelham.
Survivors include three sons and one daughter, Jimmy, Wayne, Jerry Don and Betty; numerous grandchildren, friends and relatives.

Randy Brackeen
Services for Randy Brackeen, 50, Canton, were held Feb. 2, 2005, in Eubank Chapel in Canton with the Rev. Freddy Pendleton officiating. Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Brackeen was born Nov. 25, 1954, in Dallas to Joe C. and Stella Nora Clark Brackeen Jr., and died Jan. 30, 2005, of a sudden illness in Tyler.
He was a Baptist and member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 310 in Mabank. He was raised in Irving, and moved to Canton last April.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Kay Brackeen, Canton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason Allen and Wendy Brackeen, Katy; and Joseph Ray and Jessica Brackeen, Richardson; daughter, Randi Mikayla Martin, Sagiman; parents, Joe and Stella Brackeen, Mabank; stepchildren and spouses, Amber and Cody Fry, Canton; Wendy and Mike Dunlap, Fort Bragg, N.C.; and Holly and Ryan Zeigler, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Billy Pryor, Mesquite; Vickie and Leroy Kuzell, Calif.; and Tammy and Rusty Yarbrough, Kansas; half-brothers and wives, Mark and Carolyn Blair, Longview; and Bill and Debbie Alumbaugh, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; mother of Jason and Joseph, Paula Turpin, Paris and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Woody Woodrum, Joe Eddie Goeff, Darrin Turner, Jeff Chance, Corky Owens and Staley Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Black, Curtis Sea, Bill Alumbaugh and David Harrison.

Gloria Sue Jones
Services for Gloria Sue Jones, 69, Mabank, were held Feb. 2, 2005, at the Payne Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Jones was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Sulphur Springs and died Jan. 31, 2005, in Kaufman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Mae (Edwards) Wheat; father, Jeffrey Wheat; son, Earl Ray Isom; and brother, Charles Wheat.
She was a homemaker and resident of Mabank for 25 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Crenda Cotton, Mabank; son, Jeff Isom, Gun Barrel City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Autry, Payne Springs.

Johnie A. Roberts
Services for Johnie A. Roberts, 79, Mabank, were held Feb. 1, 2005, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Jacobs officiating.
Burial was in Red Oak Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Roberts was born June 3, 1925, in Quanah and died Jan. 28, 2005, in Kemp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roberts Jr.; father, John William Slaughter; mother, Maida Alma (Garrison) Slaughter; and brother, Jimmy Ray Slaughter.
She was a homemaker and lived in Kemp 30 years. She was raised in Waxahachie and attended schools there.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Roberts and wife Betty, Mabank; granddaughter, Kari Rhew and husband Talmadge, Denison; grandsons, John Rightenour and wife Fleda, Cayuga; Terry Rightenour, Kemp; Donald Rightenour and wife Donna, Gun Barrel City; Jimmy Rightenour and wife Andie, St. Peters, Mo.; Daniel Rightenour and wife, Mary, Texarkana, Ark.; and Denny Rightenour and wife Nancy, Altoona, Pa.; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, George William Slaughter, Bynum; sisters, Emma Jean Fudge and husband Edward, Waxahachie; sister-in-law, Virdie Slaughter, Waxahachie; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers were John Rightenour, Donald Rightenour Sr., Donald Rightenour Jr., Terry Wright, Gary Wright, Kenny Wright and William Fitts.

Myron Thorson
Services for Myron Clyde Thorson, 75, Payne Springs, were held Jan. 31, 2005, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Lamb officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Thorson was born June 20, 1929, in Leona, Wisc., and died Jan. 27, 2005, in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth M. (Gruman) Thorson; father, Lloyd Norman Thorson; and sister, Tina Brandt.
He was a manager.
Survivors include his brothers, Gene Thorson, Coon Rapids, Minn.; Al Thorson, Florida; Lavern Thorson, Minnesota; Ronnie Thorson, Washington; Sam Thorson, Ned Thorson and Lloyd Thorson, all of Minnesota; sisters, Jean Starks, North Carolina; Norma Saltness, Karen Thorson and Sandy Barstow, all of Minnesota; and Suzy Douglas, California.

Martin Brown Jr.
Services for Martin Brown Jr., 75, Eustace, were held Jan. 29, 2005, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Odie Cummings officiating.
Burial was in Petree Cemetery in Huntsville under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Brown was born May 28, 1929, in Huntsville and died Jan. 27, 2005, in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie (Plaster) Brown and father, Martin Clay Brown Sr.
He was a plant manager and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. serving in Korea.
He lived in Eustace for three years and was an employee of the Dana Corp. in Dallas for 52 years.
Survivors include his wife, June (Dowe) Brown, Eustace; daughter, Pat Darnell and husband Rick, Erie, Colo.; grandchildren, Jimmy and Kyle Darnell both of Erie, Colo.; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Martha R. Wright
Services for Martha R. Wright, 73, Paris, were held Jan. 31, 2005, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating.
Burial was in Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Wright was born Aug. 28, 1931, and died Jan. 28, 2005, in Paris.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Ricky and Gary Harrington, California, and daughter, Barbara Salyard.

Billy Wayne Helms
Services for Billy Wayne Helms, 77, Payne Springs, were held Jan. 19, 2005, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J.R. Miller officiating. Interment was in Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Helms was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Wichita Falls and died Jan. 16, 2005, in Payne Springs. He was preceded in death by his father, Williams Jennings Helms and his mother, Lela Belle (Mowery) Helms.
Previously of Lancaster, he lived in Payne Springs for the past 12 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie (Williams) Helms, Payne Spring; son, Mark Wayne Helms, Payne Springs; daughters, Sharon Diane Lowrance, Gun Barrel City; and Rebecca Renee Lewellen, Fort Worth; grandchildren, Stacie Grubbs, Matthews and Tobi Helms, Pamela Kneeland, Marissa Barksdale, Brittany Parham, Savannah and Erika Lewellen; great-grandchildren, Corbin Helms, Joshua and Hale Kneeland and Isaac Barksdale; brother, Oscar Helms, Washington; sisters, Pauline Ethridge, Arizona and Onita Downing, Arizona.
Pallbearers were Matthew Helms, Ricky Helms, Royce Ethridge, Cindy Helms, Jeff Lewellen, Robert Parham III and Jerry Dodd.
