Bobby Lynn Calder
Services for Bobby Lynn Calder, 65, Gun Barrel City, were held at Woodside Cemetery Dec. 12, 2004, with the Rev. Alan Austin officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Calder was born March 18, 1939, in Grand Saline and died Dec. 9, 2004, in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his father, George Calder.
He was in sales and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Previously of Mesquite, he lived in Gun Barrel City since 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Faye (Gore) Calder, Gun Barrel City; sons, Tony Lee Calder and wife, Kelly, Mabank; Bobby Ray Calder and wife, Karen, Athens; daughters, Jana Daniese Hazelip and husband, Dale, Kemp; Kimberly Cook and husband, Glen, Dickenson; grandchildren, Amber Clark, Kristal Johnson, Bradley Calder, Brittany Calder, Tara Calder, Heather Calder, Kevin Hazelip, Christie Miller, Kelsey Due, Kyle Due, Cameron Elder, Zachay Elder, Sydney Elder, Chelsey Clark, Chase Patrick Cook, Paige Cook, Emily Cook and Chase Coutrado; great-grandchildren, Tristin Clark, Blake Hazelip, Kourtney Hazelip, Wade Miller and Lexi Miller; mother, Lucille Calder, Grand Saline; brother, Danny Calder and wife, Brenda, Grand Saline; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Frank J. Davis
Services for Frank J. "Honey Pa" Davis, 64, Eustace, were held Dec. 20, 2004, in the Garden Sanctuary with the Rev. Mike Wooten officiating. Interment was in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Davis died Dec. 17, 2004, in Piedmont Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Earl Davis and Rose and Derwood Richardson.
He was a member of Garden Sanctuary and retired from Duke Power Company after 19 years of service. He was a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kay Oliver Davis; sons, Elliott "Scott" Davis and Kevin "Todd" Davis, both of Rock Hill; daughter, Holly D. Payne, McConnells, S.C.; sisters, Lila Smith, Payne Springs; Rosemary Abbott, Eustace; Gayle Adams, Seven Points; and Polly Daren, Largo, Fla.; brother, Lynn Richardson, Sunnvale; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Charles Sherbet Jr.
Services of remembrance for Charles Wayne Sherbert Jr., 46, Kemp, were held Dec. 18, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp with the Rev. James Howard officiating. Interment followed in Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp.
Sherbert was born Sept. 8, 1958, in Dallas to Charles Wayne Sherbert Sr., and Violet (Steele) Sherbert, and died Dec. 15, 2004, in Kaufman.
He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Eustace.
Survivors include his wife, Penny (Freeman) Sherbert, Kemp; sons, Garron Sherbert and Adam Sherbert, both of Kemp; father, Charles Wayne Sherbert Sr., Kemp; sister, Tonya Hair, Kemp; brother, Leslie Sherbert, Kemp and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Daniel Freeman, Drew Freeman, Johnny Moore, James Sherbert III, Jason Sherbert and Van Willis.
Mary Alice Ingram
Services for Mary Alice Ingram, 80, Corsicana formerly of Cedar Creek Lake area, were held Dec. 18, 2004, at the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points with Bro. Mike Manning officiating. Burial was in Tool Cemetery.
Ingram was born June 25, 1924, in Eureka to Homer and Inez Boyd and died Dec. 15, 2004, in Waco.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tool and lived in this area fro the past 65 years.
Survivors include her sister, Ozell Franlin, Kerens; granddaughter, Angela Smith, Dallas; and a special friend, Mary Ann McColpin, Corsicana.
Doyle Stevens
Services of remembrance were held for Doyle Stevens, 79, Kaufman, December 18, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp, with the Rev. Lew Stokes officiating.
Interment followed in Lone Oak Cemetery in the Becker Community, near Kaufman.
Stevens was born Doyle Hamilton Stevens, May 1, 1925, in Kaufman, son of William Jenkins Stevens and Izora (Hamilton) Stevens. He passed away Dec. 15, 2004 in Kaufman.
He was a lifetime member of the Becker United Methodist Church and a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 1, 1943 to April 1, 1946.
Stevens worked for Vought Industries, Inc. for 25 years before retiring to operate the farm in Becker.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo (Nance) Stevens, Becker; brothers and sisters, Frances Tarpley, Becker, William Stevens, Jr., Jiba, Doris Stephens, Mesquite; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were John Kiser, Bob Franklin, Birl Jarosh, Johnny McKinney, Chris Becker, Matthew Stevens and Gary Stevens.
Gertie Sudduth
Services for Gertie Sudduth, 96, Mabank, were held Dec. 13, 2004, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brent Tucker, Jim McKee and Michael McKee officiating. Burial was in Mankin Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Sudduth was born July 1, 1908, in Henderson County and died Dec. 11, 2004, in Mabank. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eliza B. Skiles and John Sudduth.
She was a telephone operator in Mabank during the 1940's and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mabank. She was a clerical worker and collected bills for telephone, electric and gas companies.
Survivors include her cousin, Wynelle Reeves, Mabank; nephews, Chester Sudduth and family, Calif.; and Raymond Sudduth and family, Mount Pleasant.
James Sides
Services for James W. "Bill" Sides, 68, Kemp, were held Dec. 13, 2004, at the Aley United Methodist Church in Seven Points with the Rev. Eston Williams officiating. Burial was in King Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Sides was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Cleburne and died Dec. 9, 2004, in Gun Barrel City.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957, during the Korean War. He was a police officer for the cities of Arlington and North Richland Hills for a combined 12 years. He was superintendent of utilities at the University of Texas Health Science Center for 18 years.
He owned and operated Buddy's Liquor in Gun Barrel City for nine years and owned the Bookshelf in Seven Points for the past four years.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Sides, Kemp; children, Kayla Hughey, Kemp; Shawn Hughey, New York; Vickie Hicks, Lansing, N.Y.; and Maria Hall, Portland, Ore; seven grandchildren.
Tracy Johnson
Services for Tracy N. "T.J." Johnson, 44, Dallas, were held Dec. 23, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Teague officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Johnson was born Dec. 14,1960, in Malakoff and died Dec. 19, 2004, in Dallas.
He was an inspector.
Survivors include his mother, Bobette Chapman, Eustace; father, Stanley A. Johnson, Malakoff; sister, Rita Ferguson, Malakoff; two nephews; three aunts; two uncles; many cousins and a host of friends.
Mildred Harris
Services for Mildred Harris, 91, Mabank, were held in Eubank Memorial Chapel Dec. 21, 2004, with the Rev. James Howard officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Harris was born March 22, 1913, in Earle, Ark., and died Dec. 19, 2004, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.K. Harris; father, John Alvin Place; and mother, Jenny Mae Place.
Previously of Roswell, N.M., she lived in Gun Barrel City since 1983.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Harrison A. Harris, Roswell, N.M.; Billy J. Harris, San Marcus, Calif.; daughters, Etta mae Graham, Arlington; Mary V. Marks, Mabank; Betty L. Meredith, Esta Neia, N.M.; Beatrice K. Scates, Roswell, N.M.; Ruby A. Hubbard, Roswell, N.M.; Eugenia F. Tommie Lou Rowe
Graveside services for Tommie Lou Rowe, 92, Kemp, were held at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas with Dr. George Lindsey officiating.
Rowe was born July 29, 1912, in Fulbright to Linnie and Ross Tomlinson, and died Sept. 17, 2004, in Kemp.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Dan Barnes, Harold Walker, Jack Woodford and Earl Rowe; and sisters, Mildred Termin and Nannie Jordan.
She was a retired executive secretary from Progressive Farmer magazine and lived in Becker Community surrounded by close family members including Debbie and Ray Hicks, Miles, Ashleigh and Lauren Hicks and Sarah and Steve Hatley.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Davis; nieces and nephews, Mollie and Bill Stinson; Dennie and George Lindsey; Debbie and Ray Hicks; Ross and Madeleine Termin; George and Judy Jordan; and Charles and Toni Davis; a host of great nieces and nephews; and many great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Charlie Davis IV, Michael Davis, Miles Hicks, Ray Hicks, C.E. Lindsey and Steven Hatley.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlie T. Davis III and George Jordan.
Bascom "Bac" Porter Gentry
Services for Bascom "Bac" Porter Gentry, 76, of Gun Barrel City, were held Dec. 28, 2004, at Aley United Methodist Church.
Gentry was born Jan.1, 1928, in Jacksonville, and passed away Dec. 22, 2004, in Tyler.
He was a resident of El Paso, Chapparral, NM, and Gun Barrel City.
He served in the Army in WWII and the Korean conflict.
He retired from civil service in 1988 and spent the rest of his life as a carpenter.
A giving man, he was a lifetime member of Optimist International, delivered meals on wheels and was an active member of his church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Gentry.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Jean Gentry; children, Doyle Dane Gentry, Nacheska Gentry Combs, Carrie P. Gentry and Buck Gentry; grandchildren, Stefanie Cuomo, Sean Cullen Melanie Aguilar, Alicia Gentry, David Logan, Kenneth Holt, Brenda Jones, Gabrielle Glover, Chance Borger, Anastacia Borger, Andrew Holt and Luke Gentry.
Pallbearers were Buck Gentry, Doyle Gentry, David Logan, Robert Blaase, Marty Goss, Curtis Webster; alternate pallbearer, Roger Gentry.
Thomas E. Moore
Services for Thomas E. Moore, 85, of Canton were held Dec. 27, 2004, at Eubank Chapel in Canton with the Rev. John Zeigler and the Rev. Bill Lane officiating.
Burial was at Haven of Memories, Canton, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.
Moore was born Jan. 2, 1919, in San Saba County to Ed and Della Williford Moore, and passed away Dec. 22, 2004 in Canton after a lengthy ilness.
He was transferred to Canton in 1963, and served as Lone Star Gas representative until his retirement in 1983 after 35 years of service.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved dogs. He is survived by Baba, his Pomeranian. He served proudly in the Pacific in the Navy during World War Two.
He was preceded in death by his adored wife, Georgia More, daughter, Elaine Johnson, eight brothers and sisters and his parents, Ed and Della Moore, who were pioneer settlers in San Saba County.
Survivors include daughter, Sara Hall of Gun Barrel City; five grandchildren Deidra Howell and husband Rick Howell, Tom Everitt and wife Jo Everitt, Lori Everitt, Chuck Kilpatrick and Jeff Robertson; seven great-grandchildren which he adored, Aaron, Derek, Colton, Cody, Shelby, Blade and Baron; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ken Everitt, Craig Everitt, Charlie Grohman, David Peel, Blade Robertson and Baron Robertson.
