Carroll D. Hutchings
Carroll D. Hutchings, 82, Gun Barrel City, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, in Gun Barrel City.
Hutchings was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Jonesville, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Hutchings, his father, Clifford Carroll Hutchings, and by his mother, Hedwig Silkey.
He was a sound technician and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II, and a member of IBEW.
He spent most of his life in a broadcasting career for Channel 8 CBS in San Diego, Calif.
He moved to Gun Barrel City 12 years ago to be near his daughter.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan (Hutchings) Luby and husband John of Gun Barrel City; grandchild, Joseph Luby and wife Tonya of Gun Barrel City; great-grandchildren Sarah and Krista Luby of Gun Barrel City; two sisters, Leanna Kloempkin of Minnesota and Melva Schlingman of Azura, Calif.; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Margaret Jo Yudizky
Funeral services for Margaret Jo Watkins Yudizky of Mooresville, N.C., were held Sept. 12, 2004, in the King Cemetery, with Rev. Jim Renfro officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Yudizky was born on Sept. 21, 1945, in Dallas, the daughter of the late Elton and Imogene Taylor Lynch, and passed away on Sept. 7, 2004, in Mooresville, N.C.
She began a career with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. Once retiring, she managed a few convenience stores.
For the last few years, she enjoyed traveling the NASCAR circuit with her husband, Tom, selling NASCAR souvenirs.
Margaret Jo was very special to all of us, and to anyone who knew her, she was "Granny" or "Mom."
She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Tom Yudizky of Mooresville, N.C.; sons, Ricky D. Watkins and wife Jenna, Kemp, David W. Watkins and wife, Holly, Seagoville, and Terry D. Watkins and wife, Mellissa, Mooresville, N.C.; stepsons, T.J. Yudizky and wife Charla, Houston; and Brian Yudizky, Mooresville, N.C.; stepdaughters Amy Yudizky, Kemp; and Alex Yudizky, Dallas; grandchildren, Dustin, Ashley, Chase, Chris, Emily, Mason, Blake, Corey, Lexis, Naudia, Thomas, James and Julian, as well as a large extended family who love and will miss her dearly.
Dan Dean Nimmo
Services for Professor Dan Dean Nimmo, 71, Waco, were held Sept. 16, 2004, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel in Waco, with Harry Howard officiating, under the direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Graveside services were held Sept. 17, 2004, at Starr Cemetery near Elkhart.
Nimmo was born June 23, 1933, in Springfield, Mo., to James Wesley Nimmo and Elizabeth Baker Nimmo, and died Sept. 10, 2004, at his home.
Nimmo earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1955. He then was a Woodrow Wilson scholar and completed his masters degree in 1956 from Vanderbilt University.
After two years as an officer in the U.S. Army in Europe, he returned to Vanderbilt and earned the doctor of philosophy degree in political science in 1962.
Faculty positions included appointments in political science, journalism and communications at the University of Wichita, Texas Tech University, University of Houston, University of Missouri, University of Tennessee and at the University of Oklahoma.
After retirement in 1995, he taught as a visiting distinguished professor of political science at Baylor University.
He is the author and coauthor of 35 books and scores articles, all addressing some aspect of political persuasion, a subject he studied, researched and taught for half a century.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Trice Nimmo; daughter, Victoria Nimmo, Waco; sons, Gregory Nimmo, Chicago; Larry Nimmo, New York City; and by numerous cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for children or the Benjamin Franklin House in London.

Bobby Joe Bernard
Bobby Joe Bernard, a resident of Log Cabin City, died September 6, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
Services were held Sept. 9, 2004, at the Parkview Missionary Baptist Church in Malakoff. Interment was at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Bernard was born Nov. 13, 1942, in Sherman, to J. C. and Minnie Bernard.
He attended Sherman schools and graduated with a degree in computer science from Stephen F. Austin University.
He was an active member of Parkview Missionary Baptist Church, and he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era as a medic.
Prior to his illness, he was employed at Argon Medical. He married Dianne Johnston Feb. 10, 1995, in Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; a son, Bobby Lynn; brother, Billy James; and two sisters, Margaret Louise Leach and Frances Marie Vaughn.
Survivors include wife Dianne, Log Cabin City; sons, David Bruce, Dallas, and Michael Shawn, Arlington; daughters, Jelaine Green and husband William, Log Cabin City; and Tiffany Bernard, Arlington; sisters, Betty Thompson, Sherman; and Martha Rundell, Plainview; four grandchildren; several aunts and uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel Courson
Services for Mabel Courson, 100, Trinidad, were held Sept. 13, 2004, at Grove Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Stadford E. Hutson officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Courson was born Aug. 13, 1904, and died Sept. 10, 2004, in Athens.
Formerly of Dallas, she was a homemaker and lived in Trinidad the past eight years. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Hutson and mother, Mary France Jones.
Survivors include her sons, William Courson and Alford Courson, both of Trinidad; and Rod Courson, Tyler; several grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
L.J. Arther
Services for L.J. Arther, 79, Hillsboro, were held Sept. 11, 2004, at Oaklawn Cemetery with John Askew officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Arther was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Erath County and died Sept. 9, 2004, in Hillsboro. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Arther and mother, Obera (Westfall) Arther.
He was a fireman in Florida and member of the Retired Fireman Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his sons, Victor Arther, Hillsboro; Bobby Arther, Fla.; Robert Arther, Valdosta, Ga.; and Richard Arther, Arlington; daughter, Patricia Polk, Athens; sisters, Louise Hudson, Grandview; Billie Harod, Corsicana; and Bobbie Jacobs, Corsicana; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Joshua B. Cochran
Services for Joshua B. Cochran, 70, Mabank, were held Sept. 15, 2004, at the Payne Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elizabeth Elizardo officiating. Interment was in Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Cochran was born June 24, 1933, in Lufkin and died Sept. 12, 2004, in Mabank. He was preceded in death by his mother, Birtie Emma Coward and father, J.B. Cochran.
He was in sales and was a veteran.
Survivors include his wife Geraldine Cochran, Malakoff; son Rick Cochran and wife Terri, Houston; daughter Debbie Floyd and husband Ron, Houston; stepson Ricky Rath and wife Robin, Rockwall; grandchildren Ashley Cochran, Justin Cochran, Kevin Floyd, David Floyd, Emily Floyd and Riley Rath.
Pallbearers were Lou Guardino, Bob Kerr, Richard Alexander, Ron Close, Jim Rallegh and Glen Walther.
Michael Barnett
Services for Michael Carl Barnett, 56, Kemp, were held Sept. 11, 2004, in the Elm Grove Cemetery with the Rev. James Howard officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Barnett was born Jan. 9, 1948, in Riverside, Calif., to Sandy and Bobbie Gaye McLauchlin Barnett and died Sept. 10, 2004, in Kemp.
He was retired from the Dallas Fire Department, and was a loving and caring person. He loved all animals, especially his Dobermans.
Survivors include his parents, Sandy and Bobbie Gaye Barnett, Mabank; numerous other friends and relatives.
Doyle LeGrand
Services for Doyle LeGrand, 80, Mabank, were held Sept. 17, 2004, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Preston Eudy officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
LeGrand was born Nov. 12, 1923, in San Augustine and died Sept. 14, 2004, in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae (Arricia) LeGrand in 1997, daughter, Patsy Hurd LeGrand, grandchildren, Donald Ray Huggins and Billy Mack Hays, mother, Sarah Elizabeth (Woods) LeGrand and father, John William LeGrand.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He lived in Mabank since 1985 and worked for the City of Mabank Water Department as a meter reader. He was previously of Dallas where he was also employed by the Water Department. He was a member and deacon of Faith Baptist Church. He was an avid 42 player and loved sports.
Survivors include his sons, Jim Molaners and wife, Nettie, Mabank; and George LeGrand, Austin; daughter, Samuell Lee Shaw and husband, Robert, Mabank; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; good friend, Alene Hinton of Eustace; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Larry Suratt, Robbie Molanders, Mike Molanders, David Hawthorne, Doyle Hawthorne and Bryan Heartline.
Harold West
Harold West, 69, of Gun Barrel City died Sept. 15, 2004. Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
He was born June 10, 1935.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Wilson and husband, Otis; step-daughter, Stephanie Seabolt and granddaughter, Jordan Wilson; loving companion, Jimmie Burt.
He will be missed by many friends.

Caroline Grace Capehart
Services for Caroline Grace Capehart, infant daughter of John and Aimee Capehart, Mabank, were held Sept. 17, 2004, at the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points with Brother Don Bell officiating.
Burial was in King Cemetery in Seven Points under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
She was born and passed away Sept. 12, 2004, in Garland.
Survivors include her parents, John and Aimee Capehart; grandparents, James and Debbie Capehart, Mabank; Bob and Sharon Lockhart, Mansfield, Ohio; great-grandparents, Larry and Elsie Lockhart, Dayton, Ohio; and Wilda Capehart, Kemp.
Margaret Evelyn Snyder
Services for Margaret Evelyn (Flowers) Snyder, were held Sept. 22, 2004, at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Seagoville.
Snyder was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Bowie County to Clarence Charles and Ida Lou Flowers, and passed away Sept. 18, 2004, in Seagoville.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Dean Snyder Sr.; sons; Marvin Dean Jr., Dallas; Mark David, Seagoville; and Michael Dana, Henderson; daughters, Margo Elaine Grant, Gun Barrel City; and Melania Estelle Davis, Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
