Services for Sylvia Self, 70, Mabank, were held today, Aug. 19, 2004, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Lee Self officiating.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery on U.S. Highway 175 under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Self was born June 24, 1934, in Snyder, Okla., and died Aug. 15, 2004, in Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her son, Carl Self Jr.; mother, Mary (Everett) Cadenhead; father, Charles Cadenhead; and brother, Oscar Cadenhead.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Mabank for 20 years. She was previously of Dallas.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Self Sr., Mabank; sons, David Self and wife, Jeanne, Paris; Mikey Self and wife, Lynn, Mabank; Samuell Self and wife, Becky, Mabank; daughters, Linnie Green and husband, Robin, Mineola; Connie (Self) Wood, Grand Prairie; Judy Rees and husband, Rick, Parma, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Beth Henderson, Palestine; Charlotte Embry, Seagoville; Joy Wilson, Seagoville; brothers, Bert Cadenhead, Royce City; and Ernie Cadenhead, Forney.
Kenneth Ray Elliott
Graveside services for Kenneth Ray Elliott, 65, Kemp, are pending at this time.
Elliott was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Dallas County and died Aug. 14, 2004, in Kemp.
He was employed in graphics and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Previously of Houston, he lived in Kemp for the past seven years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert E. Elliott.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Ren‚ Bass and husband, Bob, Beaumont; grandchild, Aleighia Bass, Beaumont; mother, Jewell (Grisham) Torian, Tool; brothers, Robert E. Elliott and wife, Faye, Grand Prairie; and Albert Elliott and wife, Mary Dale, Grand Prairie; sisters, Dorothy L. Marc Moore
Graveside services for Marc Moore, 84, Malakoff, were held Aug. 17, 2004, at the Payne Springs Cemetery with Bro. Frank Upchurch officiating under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Moore was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Missouri to Lawrence and Bernice Marks Moore and died Aug. 15, 2004, in Palestine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, in 1995.
He was a self-employed truck driver and retired at the age of 75. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was part of the second landing on Normandy Beach.
Survivors include his children, Richard Moore, Sulphur Springs; Markay Warren, Palestine; and Michael Moore, Cross Roads; brothers, Amos Moore, Liberty, Mo.; and Sam Moore, Independence, Mo.; sister, Virginia Couchman, Corydon, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Billy Wayne Nelson
Services for Billy Wayne Nelson, 54, were held Aug. 17, 2004, in the Roselawn Chapel.
Interment followed in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home of Seagoville.
Nelson was born Aug. 23, 1949, in Dallas and died Aug. 14, 2004.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Shirley; son and daughter-in-law, Steve Nelson and Pam; daughter, Sharon Swiney; grandchildren, Christopher Nelson, Courteney Black, Amanda Swiney and Harlee Jo Nelson; brothers, Fred Hume, Richard Nelson and George Nelson; and other family and friends.
Jerry Robertson
Services for Jerry Robertson, 75, of Mabank are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank, with the Rev. Eddie Neese officiating.
Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery, under direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Robertson was born in Ada, Okla., Jan. 19, 1929, and died in Gun Barrel City Aug. 1, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint Kyles Robertson and Susie Ann (Bailey) Robertson, and a sister, Pat Robertson.
He was an assembly worker for the Ford Motor Company. He lived in Mabank 37 years, and was a member of the Prairieville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Robertson of Mabank; four sons, David McAfee, Michael Robertson, Roger Robertson and Clint Robertson, all of Mabank; a daughter, Delena Keith of Mabank; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Johnny Shafer of San Antonio; and two sisters, Emma Stafford of Cleburn and Kitty Silk of Valley View.
Pallbearers are James Craig, Joey Smitherman, Kenneth Moore, Ernest Owens, Kyle McAfee and David Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Gaddis, Gene Hyde and Dan Jones.
Oneta Hughey
Services for Oneta Hughey, 75, Eustace, were held Aug. 1, 2004, in Teel Church of Christ with Larry Page and Mark Gunderson officiating. Interment followed in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Hughey was born June 8, 1929, and died July 30, 2004, in Tyler.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robin Hughey, Eustace; sons, Roy Lynn Hughey, Eustace; Jerry Byron Hughey, Mabank; Douglas J. Hughey, Corsicana; sister, Vonda June Thomas, Mabank; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Doug Hughey, Lynn Hughey, Jerry Hughey, Justin Hughey, Dustin Hughey and Lindsey Hughey.
Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Felts, Barry Hughey and Austin Hughey.
Vera Friedrich
Services for Vera Friedrich, 79, Tool, were held Aug. 4, 2004, at Sardis Cemetery with interment in Sardis Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Friedrich was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Kemp, Okla., and died Aug. 1, 2004, in Kemp. She was preceded in death by her mother, Audra Mae (Box) Cooper, and father Jimmie Lee Cooper.
She was a police department dispatcher.
Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Napper and friend, Leon Carpenter, Longview; Karen Sirsty, Longview; son-in-law, Bert Potter, Dallas; sister, Ruth Rollis and friend, Harold Greinhaw, Kemp; brother, James Cooper and wife, Beth, Allen; nephews, Richard Whaley and family and John Cooper; nieces, Lisa Cooper and Leah Cooper; and a host of friends.
Johnie Bell Trammell
Services for Johnie Bell Trammell, Kemp, were held July 24, 2004, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kemp, with Pastor Leonard Jackson and Pastor Willie B. Freeman officiating.
Trammell was born May 16, 1913, in Kemp, and died July 18, 2004.
She was an active member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and a devoted member of Heroines of Jericho Sunflower Court No. 213, Kemp, where she served as secretary for many years.
She married to the late Robert Kelley.
Survivors include her son, Billy Kelley (Clotell), Dallas; daughters, Robbie Spillman, Shreveport, La.; Barbara Jackson, Kemp; Norma Liggins (James), Kemp; and Gwen Allen (Lloyd), Kemp; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two great-nieces, Mary Higgins, Dallas; and Joe Nell Fisher, Albuquerque, N.M.; two great-nephews, Sam Trammell (Newell), Kaufman; and C.J. Bobbie B. Rust
Mass for Bobbie B. Rust, 86, Gun Barrel City, were held July 31, 2004, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City. A recitation of the rosary was held July 30, 2004, at the church.
Rust was born Dec. 26, 1917, in Rogers, Ark., to Earl W. and Margie Mae Baker, and died July 29, 2004, in Gun Barrel City.
She was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church and belonged to the St. Jude's Women's Guild.
Survivors include her husband, Bernie Rust, Gun Barrel City; son, Dr. Floyd Bernard Rust Jr., and his wife, Mary, San Antonio; daughters, Susan Marie Muckenthaler and husband, Stan; and Debbie Nickell and husband, David; sisters, Mary Kiker, Tool, and Clara Eason, Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Gavin and Alicia Rust, Katie and Cameron Mayfield, James A. Pipkin III, Brian Nickell, Brianna Nickell, Joey Muckenthaler and Katie Muckenthaler; great-grandchildren, Aiden Rust and Catherine Mayfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie Marie Bloomfield
Memorial services were held for Jackie Marie Bloomfield, 52, Lewisville, Aug. 2, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp.
Bloomfield was born Feb. 23, 1952, in Rusk, to I.A. Bloomfield and Gladys (Moore) Bloomfield, and died July 29, 2004, in Carrollton.
She was never married and had no children of her own. Jackie never met a stranger and she loved to help others, especially children.
Whatever needed to be done, she would be happy to help. She liked to play cards and dominoes; she loved to go out to eat lunch and she loved shopping.
She worked at Wal-Mart in Tyler and enjoyed her job. Jackie also loved going to church.
Her favorite holidays were Christmas and Thanksgiving, because she loved to visit and stay with her family during that time.
Survivors include brothers, Ben Bloomfield of Kemp; and William "Sonny" Bloomfield of New Summerfield; sisters, Stella White, Jacksonville; and Mary Bloomfield, New Summerfield; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by many.
Mary Koprowski
Services for Mary Koprowski, 82, Mabank, were held July 31, 2004, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel with Dr. Charles Taylor officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Koprowski was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Tulsa, Okla., and died July 28, 2004, in Mabank.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Koprowski, Mabank; daughter, Jeanne Koprowski and husband Walter, Henderson, Nev.; sisters, Sabina Rose Toth, Foristell, Mo.; Helen Comer, Tulsa, Okla.; many nieces and nephews.
Donald Wayne Tompkins
Services of remembrance were held for Donald Wayne Tompkins (Mr. Wayne), 70, Kemp, Aug. 2, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Interment followed at Pyle Prairie Cemetery in Kaufman County.
Known as "Mr. Wayne," he was born April 24, 1934, in Dallas, the son of Curtis Edward Moore and Viola Pearl (Hill) Moore Tompkins. He died July 30, 2004, in Dallas.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was very strong-willed, but also very kind and compassionate, and was loved by all.
He has many friends at the Kemp Post Office where he worked. "Mr. Wayne" walked every day, and he was a recovering alcoholic, having 12 years sobriety.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Kenneth Schrimpshere, Kemp; best friends, Rhonda and Alton Folmar and family, D. T. Thompson and Ronnie McBride; and many friends on the coast.
He will also be missed by his pets, Hoover, Bucky, Tyrene and Pennelope.
