Roy Henry McCollum
Services of remembrance for Roy Henry McCollum, 71, Kemp, were held July 6, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Seven Points, with Reverends David Lewis and Jason Baber officiating. Interment followed at New Salem Cemetery in Terrell, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Mr. McCollum was born in Kaufman County, January 20, 1933 to J. W. and Alice (Hobbs) McCollum. He died July 3, 2004 at his residence in Henderson County.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U. S. Air Force as a medic. McCollum was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seven Points.
Survivors include wife, Joyce Heard McCollum, Kemp; sons, Jeff McCollum, Kemp and Mike Thompson, Texarkana; daughters, Cheryl Davis, Dallas and Melinda Blankenship, Eustace; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mary Lou Myers
Services for Mary Lou Myers, 72, Gun Barrel City were held July 6, 2004, at the Roselawn Chapel. Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, Seagoville.
Myers was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Combine and died July 2, 2004, in Tyler.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, "Frank" Myers; children, Lanny Myers and wife, Virginia, Seagoville; Kenny Myers, Gun Barrel City; brother, Howard Kile and wife, Ava; sister, Patsy Robison both of Seagoville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and loved ones.
Dorthy Lauderdale
A celebration of life was held for Dorthy "Mims" Lauderdale, 62, Kemp, July 5, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp, with Rev. Jim Renfro and Dr. Michael Feese officiating. Interment followed in the Kemp Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home, and included the release of a dozen butterflies in honor of her life,
She was born in San Angelo Sept. 19, 1941, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Maggie Jane (Rasco) Roberson and died July 2, 2004 at her residence in Kemp.
"Mims" loved the Lord and sharing with others by cooking and taking care of children.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and very involved with the children's activities at the church.
She was also very active in the Kemp Senior Citizens activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wayne Lauderdale; both parents; five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Michelle Lauderdale, Houston; Donny and Debbie Bennett , Andrews; grandchildren, Nick Lauderdale and wife, Ashley, Temple; Brittin Mulligan and husband, Shawn, San Diego, Calif.; and Cindy Bennett of Andrews; great grandchild, Caidren Lauderdale, Temple; brothers and sisters, Betty Taylor, Seminole; Eunice Huett, Hope, Ark; Bill Roberson of Milton, Fla.; Ben Roberson, Riverside, Calif.; Dalton Roberson, Alpine; and Sheila Wiltse, Riverside, Calif.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Nick Lauderdale, Shawn Mulligan, Gary Baty, Donny Bennett, Ty King and David Massey.
Honorary pallbearers were James Betts and Rodney Feese.
Stephanie Mitchell
Memorial services for Stephanie Mitchell, 36, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 9 at Liberty Baptist Church, Gun Barrel City with Rev. Dennis Wood officiating.
Stephanie Pauline Mitchell was born June 28, 1968 in Dallas, Texas to Donald A. Sevon and Carolyn Sevon, and died suddenly July 3, 2004, in Tyler.
She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Sevon; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ben Nehr and Mr. & Mrs. A. E. Sevon.
She worked for Arby's Restaurant.
Survivors include her husband, Clay M. Mitchell, Mabank; son John Harley Mitchell, Mabank; daughter, Holley Joyce Mitchell, Mabank; mother and step-father, Carolyn & Gerald Curtis, Junction; brothers, Ronald Sevon and Russel Sevon, both of Dallas; sisters, Kris Hughes, Garland, and Kathy Green, N. Ft. Myers, Fla.; step-sisters, Tommie Mansfield, Junction, and Marcie Kelley, Austin; mother and father-in-law, Bill & Peggy Mitchell, Mabank; and numerous other relatives.
Henry Woolbright
A memorial mass for Henry Edward Woolbright, 90, Eustace, was held July 7, 2004, at the Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Malakoff with Father Arthur McLaughlin serving as celebrant. The Cooper Funeral Home of Athens was in charge of the arrangements.
Woolbright was born March 21, 1914, in Dallas to Joseph and Cora Margaret English Woolbright, and died July 4, 2004 at his residence near Eustace. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Wesley, Jody, Woodrow, Hazel, Bessie Mae, Rosalie, Earl and Edith and several nieces and nephews.
He an Air Force veteran of the Pacific Campaign during World War II. He was a retired tool and die maker with Texas Instruments and had several patented inventions to his credit.
Survivors include his daughters, Pat Baker, Eustace; Lou Shaffner, Eustace; son, Ron Martin, Gun Barrel City; grandchildren, Mark, Robin, Steve, Kevin, Keri, Christina, Shawna and Laura; 16 great-grandchildren.
Hazel C. Fults
Services for Hazel C. Fults, Gun Barrel City, were held July 6, 2004, in the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City with the Rev. Byron Jones officiating.
Interment was in Post Oak Cemetery.
Fults was born in Malakoff and died July 3, 2004, in Mesquite. She was preceded in death by her father, Colonel Crockett Turlington and mother, Willie Allene (Watkins) Turlington.
She was an administrative assistant.
Survivors include her husband, James Fults, Gun Barrel City; son, Kelly Nallie and wife, Jennifer, Gun Barrel City; sisters, Lorene Oliver and husband, O.V., Mabank; Allene Sutton and husband, Eddie, Gun Barrel City; Nelda Washam and husband, Tubby, Kaufman; and twin sister, Helen Chalk and husband, Billy, Forney; grandchildren, Samantha Nallie, Gun Barrel City; Kelsey Nallie, Gun Barrel City; father-in-law, Hershel Fults, Paris; brother-in-law, Jesse Fults and wife, Shirley, Paris; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Marion Baker
Services for Marion Conard Baker, 72, Edom were held July 8, 2004, in the chapel of Cooper Funeral Home in Athens with the Rev. James Morrow officiating.
Military honors will be conducted at the interment in Edom Cemetery.
Baker was born April 12, 1932, in Malakoff to Lillie Rowe and Willie Jackson Baker and died July 4, 2004 following a lenghty illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Sharon and Eric Eden of Kingwood, his brothers, Monroe Baker, George Baker and R.C. Baker.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nelda U. Baker, Edom; son and daughter-in-law, Cornad and Jamie Baker, Athens; daughters and son-in-law, Sharon and Eric Eden, Kingwood; Karen Baker Porter, Richmond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jessie and Doris Baker, Bay City; Andrew (Slim) and LaVonne Baker, Arp; sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Darvin Wilcox, Brownsboro; sisters-in-law, Maxine Baker, Athens; Louise Baker, Houston; Gwen Pierce, Houston; Betty Pierce and husband, Doyle, Conroe; Elsie Mitchell and husband, Wayne, Houston; grandchildren, Kristen and Kaitlin Porter, Will and Abby Baker, Bailee and Cassie Eden; numerous nephews and nieces.

Salenow Luffman
Services for Salenow Luffman, Cleburn, were held July 5, 2004, in the Anderson-Clayton Memorial Chapel in Mesquite under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home in Mesquite.
Luffman was born June 6, 1910, in Cleburn and died July 1, 2004, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emmitt D. Bryant and Alton Luffman, a son, Charles Bryant, and two daughters, Emmy Dell Brooks and Nelda Miller Henin.
Survivors include children, Billy Ray Bryant, Mary Hastings and Margie Brown; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; and three nephews whom she adopted in her heart, John Dean, and Tommy and Harold Vaughn.
Betty Smith
A private service for Betty Ray Smith, 76, Tool, will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Smith was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Vincennes, Ind. to Ray and Mary Fortner and died July 22, 2004, in Malakoff.
She was a longtime resident of Fort Worth where she married her husband O.B. Smith June 2, 1948.
She was a professional artist who worked with painting and sculpting, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, O.B. Smith, Jr., Tool; sons and spouses, Skip and Dixie Smith, Tool; and Ray and Karen Smith, Harlingen; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Bobbie Rust
A Mass for Bobbie B. Rust, 86, Gun Barrel City, was held July 30, 2004, at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City. Rosary was held July 20, 2004, at the church.
Arrangements were held under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Rust was born Dec. 26, 1917, in Rogers, Ark., to Earl W. and Margie Mae Baker and died July 28, 2004, at her residence in Gun Barrel City.
She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and belonged to the St. Jude Women's Guild.
Survivors include her husband, Bernie Rust, Gun Barrel City; son, Dr. Floyd Bernard Rust, Jr. and his wife, Mary, San Antonio; daughters, Susan Marie Muckenthaler and her husband, Stan; Debbie Nickell and her husband, David; sisters, Mary Kiker, Tool; and Clara Eason, Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Gavin and Alicia Rust, Katie and Cameron Mayfield, James Pipkin, III, Brian Nickell, Brianna Nickell, Joey Muckenthaler, Katie Muckenthaler; great-grandchildren, Aiden Rust, Catherine Mayfield; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph Wayne Teague
Services for Ralph Wayne Teague, 45, Spencerville, Okla., were held July 29, 2004, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with the Rev. Don Teague officiating.
Interment was in Elm Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Teague was born Oct. 16, 1958, in Mabank and died July 24, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jabe Teague; and son, Michael Ross Teague.
He was a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Teague, Spencerville, Okla.; daughter, Jamie Teague Presswood, Kaufman; sons, Joshua Floyd, Kaufman; Preston Wayne Teague, Spencerville, Okla.; Travis Jabe Teague, Spencerville, Okla.; grandchildren, Tyler Presswood, Kaufman; Alexis Floyd, Kaufman; mother, Vivian Teague, Rattan, Okla.; brother, Charles Teague, Rattan, Okla.; and sister, Debbie Thomas and husband, Roy Dale, Mabank.

C. Bob Whittington
Graveside services for C. Bob Whittington, 72, Seven Points, were held July 28, 2004, at Oaklawn Memorial Park with the Revs. Robert C. Davis and J. Prentis McGee officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Whittington was born Feb. 17, 1932, to Ralph Sr. and Elva Loraine Halbert Roberson, and died July 26, 2004, in Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Whittington Sr.; and sister, Patsy Bennett Harvey.
He graduated from Athens High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army, worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad 18 years and belonged to several transportation clubs in Dallas.
He lived in Mesquite 37 years before moving to Seven Points.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shirley Whittington, Seven Points; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Drew Capps, Gladewater; grandson, Jared Capps, Gladewater; and numerous other family members.
